I'm sorry that was a typo. I did this on my iPhone.

I have mount and blade open right now... go knigdom of the rhodok rebels :D

Mount and blade is basically oblivion with more precise controls and larger battles. Also sieges. They rock.
Rhodoks are good for defensive positions, but in open field I don't see any reason to use infantry over cavalry.Knights and lancers just sweep everybody off the map.

If we're on topic of M&B, killed an army of 1400 rhodoks with a mixed army of 160 (60 of whom were cavalry).

Europa I and II as well as Hearts of Iron I, II, and III. I liked all of them except Hearts of Iron III.

Off the top of my head, the Paradox-published games I've got:

- Mount & Blade (+Warband)
- Majesty 2
- Fort Zombie
- Elven Legacy (+expansions)

It's possible to win vs Cavalry vs Infantry, but you need to control them well. Tightly-packed spearmen on a hill or behind a river can do serious damage to cavalry because horses lose their speed advantage. When backed up with some serious ranged firepower (cavalry sucks at ranged combat, even the Khergits are more nuisances than serious threats) they can put the hurt on an enemy that has trouble closing the gap. It takes some precise maneuvering of units though and is useless on wide-open maps so in most field battles cavalry will be way more effective, but it is possible. If you have all your heroes on horses and the rest of your army on foot, you'll have all the cavalry you need in most situations. Also, in late-game sieges become very important, in which case cavalry loses its advantage. I've had great success with an all-infantry army in one of my games. Also, Nord Huscarls are probably the most awesome standard units in the game.

In general, yeah, cavalry is way more powerful than infantry. I wouldn't discount a serious infantry-based army though.

M&B has a very good physics setup and speed gives serious advantage to the damage inflicted, so a unit with big speed can easily compensate for poor weapon choice. So it comes down to whether or not it can get to the needed speed or is it going to be forced into a melee and surrounded. While mountains and rivers take away a lot of the advantage the cavalry has over infantry, even under these conditions the horse offers additional protection for the rider. Mountains are a bit more tricky (in some cases I dismounted and went with a two-hander), rivers can be crossed before you get to the enemies position (if he's standing in a river you have to either shoot him down or go melee). I might like Nord Huscarls and Rhodok Sharpshooters but i'd prefer them defending my castles and take Vaegir/Swadian Knights and Lancers with me when traveling. In sieges the important part is good shield/armor so knights are still quite valuable.

I only played Mount and Blade, which I didn't enjoy very much (although it had potential).

The Hearts of Iron games look fantastic, I might give 2 a spin when it's cheap on Steam or something.

I've played the Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943 demo, I think I might pick up a boxed version of it sometime. I've also played and loved Penumbra.

Shucks. I was about to say I've played an interactive game about paradoxes, but then I realized you were talking about a company.

Homestuck is a pseudo-interactive comic where paradoxes run amok. It's interactive in the sense that the writer frequently includes reader input in the story to shape the world. http://www.mspaintadventures.com/

Back to the main topic. I haven't played any Paradox Interactive games.

You mis understand. I didnt have the name your kingdom mod so when i took my 100 huscarls and 100 vegeir marksmen and attacked a rhodok settlement, i was named the rhodok rebels despite previously having NOTHING to do with them. I love nord huscarls. I admit running round with my 80 swadian knight scout patrol was very very satisfying. I just mowed people down.

My sincere apologies in that case, used to be Nord rebels and Khergit rebels myself by conquering their cities.

I have played Galactic Civilizations 2: Dread Lords. That game is awesome. I can't say I like Paradox Interactive because of that game since they only made the sequel.

Well it is in past tense so you can always justify it by claiming you evolved and no longer suck.
