The question is in the title. State why who you think is the best is.

For many years Pierce Brosnan was THE image of James Bond in many forms of media. With such a handsome actor to play a classic lady killing spy, who could resist putting him in Bond's shoes. Although I do hold Pierce Brosnan in high regards, I could not bring myself to vote for him. My choice instead was the original, and in my opinion the only true James Bond, Sean Connery. The only man truly fitting to utter that classic phrase:

"Bond. James Bond"

In exception for George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton, Bond has always been perfect to his era. Sean Connery fit the bill for the older movies, while Moore fit his era, Timothy Dalton sucked so I'll discount him, Pierce Brosnan was absolutely perfect for the 90s- early 00's, and now Daniel Craig is a perfect modern Bond.

My answer, therefore, is none.

Sean Connery will always be the classic Bond. Daniel Craig did a pretty good job. The rest are all good in their own ways. But Connery is Bond.

You need to rephrase that sentence.

I'd say Daniel Craig. I thought the new Bond movies were great, the older ones, not so much.

Sean Connery or Roger Moore. Both were equally good in my opinion. Daniel Craig does do a good job of it, he brings a tad of violence and actually hiding behind emotional masks kind of twist to the Bond character. But it's the classics that I like the most.

Brosnan was the bond of my childhood, and for that reason I think he is fantastic, his whole mannerism just fits the bond persona.

That said, Sean Connery is the best bond. He is perhaps less charismatic than Brosnan, yet he is a more beleivable character, so that's where my vote went.

1) Sean Connery - Classic bond, still the best but not by a lot now.
2) Daniel Craig - Is a close second for my favourite bond.
3) Roger Moore - I found his version of bond to be interesting and a bit amusing.

Pierce Brosnan - He is one of the worst bonds ever.
George Lazenby - The only amusing thing with Lazenby is the fight scenes for about 5 minutes.

I honesty can't remember enough about Timothy Dalton to rank him.

Sean Connery for sure. I'd say that Brosnan was the image because of Goldeneye. It was a good movie that breathed some life back into the series (even if the ones after it sucked so fucking terribly. Christ, another villain has a diamond powered space born super hot death laser? Do they not pay attention, at all?) and was, in my opinion, the last really good film to remain true to it's roots. The other Brosnan's sucked and Daniel Craig's bond is a step or five away from any of the previous actors. Goldeneye was beautiful in every aspect; it managed to keep Bond as Bond, and while he was fighting SPECTRE he was dealing with the Russians and a super villain using space-borne super weapons to extract his revenge against London. Add to that it introduced Dame Judi Dench as as "M", a role she has fulfilled excellently, Desmond Llewellyn being as good a "Q" as ever, and it's pretty solid all around.

However, Connery is Bond. Followed by Moore, then Craig, then Brosnan.

Daniel Craig. I like the more action oriented route they have taken with the newer Bond films. Most of the older ones felt like they were dragging on for me.

You call Casino Royale "action-oriented"?

Sean Connery.

But Goldeneye is my favorite Bond film ever. It's really the only one you can take even sort of seriously from a narrative standpoint. The ones before it were too cheesy, the ones after too stupid.
