I've been a member for a while, but inactive for a little while too. And I've recently noticed that you guys bash Fox News a lot.

I mean, I realize that they're not exactly perfect, but their news packages and stories are a lot better done, more well written, and intelligent than CNN and MSNBC. And the opinion shows actually have multiple opinions on: Fox's opinion hosts actually allow the other party member to finish a sentence. CNN and MSNBC and others allow rampant opinion to perforate their news program whereas Fox's unbiased news segments are really unbiased.

So, I ask, why do you guys always bash Fox news. It's usually been CNN and Liberals like Jack Tonphson who ban video games, so I really, really don't understand why you guys hate the 'right wing news.' Conservatives are always for free speech and freedom, so again, why the hate for them?

Unbaised....have you ever seen the Daily Show or the Colbert Report ripp the to shreds because of their massive bais?

Ironically, the Daily Show is my favourite American news source. It's witty and doesn't seem as stupidly patriotic as the actual news channels.

Fox News is officially an "entertainment" channel rather than a news channel - which means they can get away with a lot of bullshit.

Last Fox News clip I saw was of Obama's speech at a GOP event and every time it seemed as if he was going to say something that Fox disagreed with, he was muted and a presenter spoke over the top of him.

That said, if Fox News viewers are so ignorant and naive that they believe everything they are told then there is nothing to be done about it. In the days of 24 hours "news" coverage there is a lot more space for talking heads and opinion spewing. A reasonable adult should have enough wisdom to at least check a second source for information on anything other than basic fact (anyone can report on an earthquake, but huge pinches of salt should be taken with anything related to politics or public opinion).

Seriously though, Fox news and its british equivalent Sky news are owned by Rupert Murdoch and he (as we all know) is pure evil. As a rule i do not endorse or support evil, therefore i cannot in good conscience do anything but hate Fox news.

We generally hate Fox News as it tends to be the news station to over blow things, and to confuse opinion with news. Take Glen Beck and Bill O'Reilly for example. They get to spread their stupidity to the masses, and if there is one thing that all true Escapists should hate, it should be stupidity and the spreading of it.

That, and Fox seems to have an agenda against gays, atheists, gamers, and liberals.

Well see, here's my beef with Fox news.

When I was a kid growing up in a small town, everything was fine. But then an evil sorceress prophesied that a male heir from my town would one day rise up and destroy Fox news. To prevent this they sent their minions to kill every male child in town. I escaped with the help of my babysitter and a kindly old man who promised to one day explain my destiny.

So yeah, that's why I hate Fox news. The funny thing is if they hadn't gone out of their way to try to kill me I never would have had a problem with them in the first place.

I haven't seen much American television (thank fuck for that) but enough to form an at least somewhat educated opinion on the matter.
Fox News is, for lack of a better phrase, awful to the point of being embarrasing. They established themselves as such during the Bush-administration and haven't changed their imgage since. You mentioned that their news is well-written. Perhaps it is better-written than that of some other news-channels but it doesn't change the underlying problem:
News should be reported, not written. Truly professional and respectable journalism is, at it's most simple, making a list of facts, then showing the public that list. The basic philosphy behind journalism is information, bringing important and significant events and developments to the attention of the public. Does this sound like Fox News to you?
The primary function of the news is to inform and not to entertain, and in that regard Fox News fails in every sense of the word.

As an Englishman, I am not familiar with your yanky news channels. However, I have caught fox news every now and then and compared to British news coverage, Fox news is really bad, apocalyptically so.

For far more unbiased American politics, I like to read newfeeds from BBC.

Because BBC has absolutely no record of manipulating the truth or being government tools.

omgsh, screw how bad Fox News is, BBC is THE worst news organization I've EVER seen.

As you said, they twist the truth and often flat out lie.

Which wouldn't be so bad if the British government didn't give them a virtual monopoly over British media.

Most other networks have some ideological bias, but the BBC is just constantly, universally pro-state.

I'm not voting in the poll because all of those are US channels. Thing is, though they get shown around the world too, so do others, like BBC News, Sky News, and Al-Jazeerah. All of those get shown in the USA. For the record, I have seen most of those news channels (either here in the UK, or on holiday in the US) and I still reckon that the best is BBC News, by far .

American journalism is a joke. The punchline being its making more money than ever by actively and knowingly misleading it's viewers. FOX murdered journalism and revealed to everyone else the amount of money to be made from pissing on the corpse.

I'm also half tempted to report this as trolling, since I refuse to believe anyone could honestly believe the initial post.

Also, FOX news (and by extension, every 24 hour "news" channel) gets away with so much shit because the FCC doesn't regulate "cable" television. Not mentioning repeal of the fairness doctrine.
