Poll: Why All The Zombies?

Why is it that pretty much every game now has a DLC to do with zombies for example; Red Dead Redemption. I have been forced to watch Zombie film after Zombie film because my boyfriend love them so and I'm pretty much fed up of Zombies. Come on game developers, why can't you come up with something different? (and not Ghouls. Ghouls are just radiated zombies.) What's your view on this zombie invasion?

I feel like somewhere along the way I didn't explain my point.

I'm not talking about Zombies in games especially designed for Zombies like Dead Rising but DLCs like the one for Red Dead Redemption. It's games like that where they throw the zombies in when theres no point as they're not in the original storyline that annoy me so. I would accept the zombies if the storyline actually made any sense to include the zombies in the DLC.

I can understand that but seriously, Zombies were fun for the first 5 minutes then it just gets really really dull. I'm waiting for the DCL of Left 4 Dead where the survivors aren't even bothered anymore; (in a dull tone of voice) "oh look, ANOTHER jockey" *gun shots* "he's dead now."

But back to my point. I know Zombies are a fad but they've been a fad for a mightly long time and now is the time to say; Be gone Zombies! I want to go to my fridge and xbox without the constant annoyance of you breaking through my front door to chew on my brain.

I don't mind some zombie stuff. I mean, Nazi zombies was awesome, but it was just an addon, and it never tried to be more than that. I just hate the Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising games because they try to take themselves WAY too seriously when their storylines are just piles of crap. And Red Dead should NOT get a zombie DLC. That's just insane.

But yeah, go with vampires or werewolves. If you try you can make them scary. Zombies just get funny because they shuffle around and don't think.

First of all, it's DLC, for downloadable content. I usually don't fix spelling, but because I think you've gotten the wrong idea (judging by the repeated nature of the mistake). No meaning to offend.

Zombie stuff is made because it sells. Why zzombies sell, is a different question.

One reason might be, that killing zombies has absolutely no moral problem at all. True, not many people wander if the definitely-not-taliban soldier you just killed had a family or something in games, but if there is some part of you that does, then no problem with zombies. This is also a good way to put a lot of blood and gore, which some people enjoy a lot.

Besides, zombies are very easy to make into games. The AI can just suck because they have no brains. If a zombie runs into a wall ok. The enemies don't have to look very different, since they'll soon be reduced to a pile of body parts anyway. With aliens you gotta be creative in visuality. You can't put nazis and definitely-not-taliban warriors in the wild west. So you go with zombies.

But that new Red Dead trailer just looks completely retarded, they're undermining everything that made the game great in my opinion.

Zombies games are fun, Dead Rising 2 is possibly the most entertaining game I have played this year. Sometimes it is nice to take out some aggression on brainless, shambling enemies. Its called variety.

I'm thoroughly bored of zombies. I was never a huge fan before, but it baffles me how they've suddenly become so much more popular now that they exist EVERYWHERE.

I understand that at this point, almost every new appearance of zombies is solely to capitalize on the trend, but it's gotta end sometime.

Red Dead Redemption proved to me that the zombie craze is going too far.

But I can easily see their appeal; you can basically just slaughter anyone you really hate without the nasty consequences, as they're no longer really those people. It's guilt-free revenge.

As for zombie movies, I'm kind of done with them as well. I was extremely happy with Zombieland though, as that wasn't really a zombie movie, in that it wasn't about the zombies. Hell, for 40 minutes there wasn't a zombie to be seen.

Honestly, I think this zombie trend has gone too far. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with zombies. But nowadays, it seems like almost every other game is trying to incorporate zombies one way or another.

It was fun for a while, but now, it is just getting stale and annoying.
