Dead Rising games because they try to take themselves WAY too seriously when their storylines are just piles of crap.
WHAT? What game have you been playing? You mean the one where you are let loose in a shopping centre with a big manly man who you can put in a dress and a big pink hat and make him beat zombies to death with...well anything? Yeah it takes itself so seriously...

Actually people like zombies because they are undeniably human but perfectly ok to abuse, we project onto them the aspects of people we dislike and then take it out on them. It's the reason a bunch of best selling games have you killing zombies or nazis or terrorists, we dislike somebody out there but we wouldn't kill them, giving us a more or less human enemy we can justify killing is pretty appealing to a lot of people.
Well, that's not necessarily why zombies are popular today]/i].
I think it's because we recently had a small string of successful zombie-esque media (Shawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Dead Rising, Left4Dead), and now many other companies want a piece of the action.

It's a fad. It won't last.

Zombies are great. They are slow- or nowadays fast as hell- and they are fun to kill. Considering they are already dead, i don't see that as much of a problem. :p

What we should get is:

every now and then in a multiplayer game the players suddenly become one team instead of two when they all have to work together to fight off.......

Did you like Twilight? If so replace zombies with evil vampires.

Except they aren't bastardized versions of their original selves.
Also, Ghouls aren't fucking zombies. They haven't died yet.
I hate Twilight
And also, Ghouls do slightly count because the feral ones have reverted back to their primal instincts which is pretty much what zombies do. Plus Three Dog calls them "mindless zombies."

Well yeah, right now zombies are popular because everyone is jumping on the bandwagon, but I doubt we'll ever see the end of zombie infested media, no pun intended.

I've done my best to stay away from the zombie fad, so when it actually crosses paths with something I'm interested in (such as Red Dead Redemption), I can shrug off my disappointment that they did zombies pretty quickly and enjoy it (or not) on its own merits.
