I play online with my 360 a lot playing mostly FPS. I usually talk to my mates while doing so in our party and have a good laugh. The problem I have come across recently though is with MW2 and the "No party chat" rule with most game types. Demolition is probably my most preferable and this requires you to be in game chat. My typical game starts with some 8 year olds trash talking before the match at each other. Usually I mute them but sometimes I will be changing classes before a match. Shouting abuse at each other I pray that I don't get put on their team but more than likely I will get at least one. While the our team is losing due to the lack of TEAMwork the 8 year old complains that the team aren't "Pro". Usually resulting in them "Rage quitting" we lose no thanks to them. I can't see the amusement of shouting at people who live miles away. So I ask you do you think that online gaming is getting too angry?

Because people get frustrated when they lose.
It isn't that complicated, really.

People think it's fun to trash talk when hidden behind a wall of anonymity, and it gets annoying.

I too get dissapointed if my gaming is not at the level it was but I do not feel the need to shout abuse at others due to my failure

Because you are playing on xbox live, which is a terrible internet community chock full of children without proper supervision who run their mouth as they please. The fewer button presses it takes to mute someone, the better.

Wasn't online gaming always angry?

Anyways, people get angry because they die and can't handle losing.

I agree. The most fun i've ever had online was a few years back, playing halo 3. I got on this team of 3 totally high Canadians. I have no clue how we did it, but we calmly won 50-10 on Standoff. They were SO COOL. We partied up and went another 4 games without loosing. Then they had to get off. Awesome guys. And then i got on a team of screaming kids and we were loosing like crazy until they rage quit at 6-30. Yeah, then me alone won the match when the timer ran out 40-36. That was probably my best performance ever. Awesome.

So yeah, i hate those screaming kids. I don't play with random people anymore. I just got sick of it.

It's because a lot of these people today don't play online games to compete, or have fun. They play online games to buttress their weak self-esteem. "Pwning n00bz" is the only way they can feel good about themselves, and if even that is denied them, the apocalyptic blast of rage exceeds all bounds of proportion.

I agree with this point compared to say PSN there are far more children and the console comes with a headset. The two together spell disaster.

<color=red>Cause we damn well can be, damnit!

Maybe cause some did not learn to properly express their emotions in anyway constructive way and instead repress the vast majority until it bursts forth as anger. Just a thought.

Its not really being angry, it's taking video games to seriously to a point where some people get genuinely insulted or offended when they lose. People it's a game. I still laugh at myself when i get pwned. It's supposed to be fun you douche.

Oh yea and you couch bouncing trash talking finger pointing madden players...i'm looking at you too -_-

There is your problem right thier, MODERN WARFARE 2, the problem with that game is that there is no teamwork. it's a one man show so no one has to play nice to each other. if you want a good community you have to go with somewhat a niche game without being so niche that no one will buy it. L4D was a good example of this as anyone who bought it during release was actually interested in it. I was having good mature versus games for about two-months. 3 quarters of my friends came from those two-months and we've all stayed pretty tight.

So in other words, play with friends.

The vast majority of the worlds population are idiotic testosterone fueled neanderthal given pants, a haircut, and some fancy technology to cover up just how stupid they and the rest of the world really are. However given the opportunity that thin disguise is torn aside and the moron beneath left free to spew their nonsense the wide world like a kid with a loudspeaker hopped up on sugar and chocolates. The sooner you accept this simple truth the easier your life will become, guaranteed!

I should know, I'm one of em; And so are you!

Yes I certainly do. In gaming you should remember that at the end of the day you're playing for enjoyment as is everybody else. I have this friend on steam who I used to play left 4 dead with ALOT. One thing which use to always happen during the game is that we'd start talking, then I'd make an intentionally silly comment (One time I posed the theory that the zombies were all made of cake, and then from that I suggested that the tank would be a wedding cake) and then he'd start to rage and I'd just laugh, but we still got on great (I use to always call him an anime fanboy [as a joke] whenever he started talking deeply about anime, then he'd say over and over again "I'm not a fanboy!").

Angry might not be the right word, but there are lot's of people out there that are too aggressive, or who want to ruin other players' fun, who are just dipshits... don't know. I am turned off the whole online experience because of that. However I enjoy going online with games I like (because they enhance that game's experience)or signing onto servers in which I have had good experience in the past.
