why boycott anything at all?
I mean, boycotting games has never got you anywhere. Let the publishers relase what they want to. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

I'm considering BC2; need a PC shooter of that caliber...

I own both, and I think the singleplayer in modern warfare 2, despite the ridiculous story, is better. The bad company 1 storyline was much better in my opinion, and one thing that really pissed me off was the fact that the story from the first bad company wasn't mentioned at all in the second, despite sort of ending on a cliffhanger. In the multiplayer department, I think bad company 2 is better due to the sense of scale and greater realism.

Meh. Modern Warfare's Campaign felt more epic, though Bad Company 2 gets it's shots in and each one is pretty funny.

And Bad Companys variation in multi-player make it win. I like driving a tank, I like Shooting at things and them not die immediately because I'm decked out in super perks.

In the end, who the hell cares. Their both playable, their both fun to a point.

My oppinion is this: MW2 is a laggy endless camp-o-fest. BFBC2 is well, a battlefield. Huge battles, long ranges, lots of people, destruction and other shit with very little connection problems.

If you like camping, MW2 is your game, even though it lags often and you seem to disconnect every other game. I personally prefer the constantly changing enviroments of BFBC, making camping pretty hard and rushing preferable.

havent read any reviews for it yet. but thats what they are, reviews!! of people who are paid to tell you what they think of the game. in the end its up to you to buy, rent and generally decide what you think of it. personally i am enjoying it. and the online is a blast as well, feels alot better than mw2 anyway.

Yes, unfortunately. PC ports have never been great, but they seem to be getting ever worse nowadays. The money isn't in PC games anymore, sadly.
It's not in the games, it's in the uselessly ironic 'anti-pirate' crap nad DRM, which sends pirating through the bleedin' roof.

Aaaaaaaanyway, Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2
EA drops a ton or two of bricks on IW and their recent works.

Boycotting games is petty unless there's a damn good reason. (i.e. Ubisoft DRM)

I didn't like the way Battlefield felt to control. COD is much more fluid.

It's a shitty port, a good game but still a shitty PC port. It's miles ahead of MW2 in every area of interest and my computer is powerful enough to hack shitty ports, so I've got mine ordered (being in Australia means that my choices are pay an extra $40 or import it from the U.S). In the meantime, I've illegally "pirated" my friends copy, hopefully mine will arrive in the next few days so I can check the online out.

It has. Basically it's because the xbox 360 is very much like a PC, and an xbox 360 game will run (albeit badly) on a PC with minimum tuning. It's an easy way to make some extra money with very development little cost, so a lot of companies are doing it. Those few that bother porting games well tend to shoot themselves in the foot (see ubisoft and their AC2 DRM). It's a rather annoying trend, hopefully the next generation of consoles will be different enough from the PC so that this doesn't happen.
It really should be the other way round, seeing as PC-console is lessening performance anyway.

BC2 is miles better than MW2. And it knows it, have you heard the numerous MW2 references? Only a game which knows it is superior can do that stuff and get away with it.

You certainly aren't going to get the Pc gamers to boycott it.
Most People are currently playing on Pc, because they Dice has a lot of fame in their community.
A boycott would be possible on the console side, but Dice put a lot of thought in every version, none feel like a port.

you think it's shit because somebody else said it was? That's like saying killing people for no reason is right because he said it is.
Yes because not buying a game is equal to killing someone. Did you even think before you typed that?

I think it's mostly the PC crowd that's sad about it. Dual core machines are apparently getting humped whilst playing it so have to turn the settings down, so it looks like turds. Hopefully they'll patch it, but it seems a bit too late for that.

Did you think before typing yours? we're on about basing an opinion on someone else's thoughts, not buying the game.

Yup, this.
I would get caught up on the most ridiculous part of terrain and debris while running around, the weapons balance is ridiculous, nobody played as a team in random games which means I have to get 3 friends to play with if I really want to have fun, and the matchmaking blows.

Pass.

B-company2 shoots down MW2 with no competition, the multiplayer is actually FUN to play on your own due to destructive environments and non-overpowered weapons. good going dice

It is better. Sure the graphics aren't on the same level, but is that really an issue? I've heard a few so called "reviewers" call it "a good looking PS2 game"... These types of uncalled and extremely illinformed comments irk me. CLEARLY some people don't remember what a PS2 shooter game looks like. Let's observe shall we? In fact, lets compare visuals from both BF2 Modern Combat and Bad Company 2:
This is BF2 Modern Combat, imo, its no ugly duckling in the column of PS2 FPS visuals
Now this, is Bad Company 2

Thats a pretty significant difference if you ask me. Anyways, OT, the game is nothing short of spectacular online. Rush mode can be pretty intense, Conquest has always been my fav, the new addidtions of Squad Rush and Squad Deathmatch (4v4v4v4) are a for sure way to breathe new fire into competitive clan gaming.

If there IS one thing I must gripe about BC2, its the size of the conquest maps, and the limit of 16v16. I'm so used to playing BF2 games where it was 32v32 and the map was an ever changing all out war everywhere you went.

Pick it up, hug it, love it, just don't try anything too intimate with it or you'll hurt yourself. The game is that good.

Yes it IS about buying the game because that's what his opinion is about. What you came out with was so ridiculously over dramatic. How the hell does reading a review and deciding the game is crap because of it even slightly equal killing someone because someone told you it's ok? They're leagues apart.

Whoa, you stole my post!

Yea, that was the same as me. I hired it for 2 days hoping for a great game.
Unfortunately,
-The story felt a bit disjointed (especially at the end)

-Collision detection was horrible in debris and rubble, i died from being unable to reach cover after getting caught on small rocks. Many times, about a quarter of my deaths actually.

-Though the game had some of the humour from the first game, it didn't have enough and just felt like it was trying to be serious, yet funny at the same time and ended up doing neither.

-Many of the 'hints' i got from the squad were given to me as the camera faded out after dying. Which is, in my words, a cheap move to extend the game and make it more 'difficult'.
Half my deaths equate to that.

-I couldn't demolish buildings after a certain range, all explosives would not do anything except damage enemies. No building collapse, nothing. (grenade launchers and RPGs)

-On my version of the game, the sound cut out frequently when i was in areas with explosions . I had a 'new copy' and my xbox is working correctly, but i was curious if anyone else had that problem.

-As tea said, the weapon balance is on par with MW2. Some guns feel completely pointless to use as they are underpowered and have small clips, while others have the opposite.

-As tea said again, in random games teamwork was a foreign concept, i lost battles because teammates would not back each other up and just did their own thing.

-Snipers are a pain in the ass, as they are impossible to find when done correctly and can easily detect you. It's a perfectly rational strategy, but i still dislike it, cause i can't snipe (being an Aussie and never getting a connection that will register my shots from long range, not cause i can't shoot)

-The graphics are really good though, to be honest.

To say, i am not one to boycott games. Because it seems to feel like gamers are just being whiners about games to the game developers.

They don't have to make the game you know.. So stop whining, you make us all look immature and stuck up. The left for dead 2 boycott is an example this.

Though, I can see the point when it comes to things that really are people getting screwed over by companies (Activision seem to be the prime target for this soon, as they seem to have become the 'evil corporation' of the industry.)

Mind if there are some mistakes, i am tired and need my sleep for tafe tomorrow. But upon reading furburt and tea's comments, i had to add my two cents despite the state i am in.
