Let's get this straight. Fallout: New Vegas is unforgivably buggy. I'm not denying that. I've never had it crash whilst just playing normally, but it HAS crashed several times while quick-loading. WAY many more times then is forgivable.

STILL, I'm just saying that that alone is not, in my opinion, a good justification for 95% of the video game playing population to miss out on this game. I don't think it deserved to sell more copies than Fallout 3 (even though to me, it was better than fallout 3) and it didn't. I DO think it should have sold SOMETHING, instead of being universally panned and utterly ignored. That's not fair, is all I'm saying.

As for the map: Incidentally, I really REALLY liked the canyons and mountains that blocked everything, because they added depth to the terrain. Capital Wasteland was one Gargantuan flat surface with nothing interesting to look at AT ALL. It was just dreary and banal.

You remember the beginning of FO3 where you stumble out of the Vault and see a murky picture of a faded pixelated Washington Memorial in the distance? Contrast that with when you climb to the Goodsprings graveyard at night and see, in the distance, the dark silhouette of the Lucky 38 against the warm golden glow of Vegas. You could try to run towards it, since you see no impediment.....but you'd be torn to shreds by Deathclaws and Radscorpions. So you wait, and take the laborious long way around, just to reach that golden city in the darkness. Now, Contrast that back to FO3 where the Second Fucking mission in the wasteland tells you "Go into D.C." at which point I was like "What? How? Just walk in?". What's so special about DC if I can just waltz in?
Case in point: Sometimes Freedom is overrated....

And FYI, I'm just finishing my first 70+ hour playthrough and I can't WAIT to get started again because I felt like I missed Many great quests when I killed off the Brotherhood, and decide not to kill House and take his place (for House, AGAINST my will; when a game can make me choose between a faction I respect and the future of an entire city: THAT'S good writing). I also couldn't recruit Veronica and I really want to see what she's about, so I disagree with your "lack of content" opinion.

Lastly, you shouldn't NEED mods to enjoy a game, But you have to admit that the Gamebryo engine lokks TERRIBLE by now. I played FO3 without any visual tweak mods and it looked like a rabid dog piss. NV without the Fellout [http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34888], Nevada Skies [http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35998#] and Electrocity [http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37908] mods, is the same way. Just check out the images in those mod pages to see how much they add to the visuals of the game.

In my first playthrough, I did all the quests for the Brotherhood of steel, and later proceeded to blow them to kingdom come. I completed all 4 main endings with my first character with a clever hardsave that saved me some time. I got every trophy except hardcore and platinum. So far in my second run through, I could count on 1 hand the number of new quests Ive come across, such as North Vegas, NCR Correctional Facility, Vault Powder Gangers, different choices for companions endings.

As for the map, lets just say I found it very lacking in content, and stuff being there just to be there. Take for instance, Westside. First time I went there I thought, oh cool another town. Theres bound to be quests here. After a half an hour of searching, I found no quest starters. After looking up on the wiki, I realized the only real reason its there is because one or two npcs that take part in the middle of a quest are there, one of them you could completely skip. Dissappointing. The same happens for a lot of locations, mostly around New Vegas itself it seems.

But then your next thought would be, why am I playing it if I didnt like it. I do like it. If I didnt I wouldnt have played it this long. The bugs just make it painful. Plus, Im playing it on hardcore mode this second playthrough to get the platinum trophy. Im actually enjoying hardcore. I like the challenge. But its unlikely i'll play a third round because is feels like I've done everything already.

And I sorta did the exact opposite for both FO3 and FO:NV as you in that I defied the deathclaws by using a stealthboy and made it to New Vegas before I had even been to Primm. And, in FO3 in my first playthrough I explored so much that going to DC was actually one of the last things I did. I had most of the map explored before I even entered DC. Kinda funny.

partially because i really, really respect Mojang for making a game that doesn't rely on flashy graphics.
partially because i knew how strong a cult following Notch has, and therefore i was voting for inevitability.

Mojang deserves it in my opinion. They are still developing the game, but it has moved into beta and is coming along nicely... it is extremely fun to build and bash, and with all the planned changes and additions it seems like it will be even more amazing than it already is. Nintendo have turned in to crap(imo), who cares if they have developed good games in the past, the best game I've played in the past year was probably minecraft. Oh, and epic can suck it, they are launchign a game six months after its initial release date because they wanted to bring in more bucks at the holidays.

I get what you're saying about the map. I do. But in the end I liked Mojave much, MUCH more than the Capital.

Call it a Quality vs. Quantity thing. Mojave was smaller, yes; but the areas seemed more detailed and visually fleshed out. For example: Red Rock Canyon had no missions. Is that bad? Not to me, cause that place was Fucking Gorgeous, especially at dusk, which is when I first waltz in there. Just Beautiful.

Even if it had no missions it didn't feel pointless, cause the place had history; it had weight, and it was "warm" even though you knew a LOT of blood was spilled for this canyon. That's how you imbue Depth into locations. I didn't feel that anywhere in DC except Rivet City(only because it was a cool concept) and Underworld(kinda).

You managed to sneak past the WHOLE of NCRCF, Quarry Junction, Black Mountain('s base) AND the South Vegas Fiend territory with Stealth boys? How did you get so Many THAT early in the game? You obviously didn't have Lily. That's impressive.

I cant take all that credit. On my first playthrough I avoided NCRCF all together (on my second playthrough I sided with the powder gangers). From Sloan, there is a small little path to the hidden valley, which you probably know about. From there, I headed north to Neils shack at the base of Black Mountain. That cuts out half the hazards at Quarry Junction. From there I hugged in between the road and quarry junction to avoid the deathclaws and Super Mutants, but eventually I had to put on a stealthboy that I got from the schoolhouse in Goodsprings. I headed north and the stealth boy ran out shortly after I left the range of the deathclaws. From there I ran into Fiend territory at the Allied Technology Offices, but luckily there was some random NCR soldiers in the area. From that point I spent a few hours wandering around looking for the entrance to New Vegas not knowing I had to go through Freeside to get there.

That.....is something I am DEFINITELY trying out on my second play-through. Novac was nice but that seems WAY more fun. A COMPLETELY different way of doing it. Wow, I am impressed.

Also, no offense but you just shot your argument (of lack of replayability value) in the foot XD.
Granted, you could do that in FO3 as well: skip the radio guy by trekking it to Rivet City by following the river. But then again I never said FO3 gave limited options....

Indeed I probably did. Ah well. Good luck getting passed the deathclaws.

Mainly as a sucker punch to the devs they go up against. Make the fuckers open their eyes to the fact that taking chances is a good thing.

It was always up against developers that I had a personal hatred for

I hate all it's competition
They have all made at least one game that I hate.

And I have no feelings either way about minecraft.
I'm in agreement with this for the most part. Most of the competition has given me a reason not to vote for them.
