cause they're pathetic and needs to boost their fragile egos by beating others online, even if it means they haev to turn on god-mode.

Or cause they're spitefull fucks who enjoy to piss others off, and online leaves no room for retaliation, unless ofc you can find some info about them by their username... foudn out a lot about one guy who cheated in HoN, his name, age, the city he lived in, his youtube account and that he was a competitive SSBB player unfortunately i couldn't find his emal anywere, otherwise i would've used it to sign him up for all sortf of shit, so his e-mail would be flooded with offers of "free" acces to all sortf of truly bizzare porn, and fan-sites for hannah montana and other child-stars or something.
Guess the spitefullness is conatagious...

The way I see it, there's two kinds of hackers in (multiplayer) games.

First, there's the people who make the hacks. More often than not, they just do it because they can. They want to show off their 'sk1llz' by creating an aimbot or save editor whatever.

Then, there are the people who use the hacks. They just suck at the game and need an unfair advantage to be competitive, because their puny e-penis will shrivel up and fall off if they'd lose a match.

In singleplayer games though, everything is fair game. There's nothing wrong with cheating or hacking in a singleplayer game, because even if you are ruining the whole thing, you're still only ruining it for yourself.
I agree completely with the above. Or, in short, this.

Although there are some people who use the hacks purely to troll - they could play the game, they just want to annoy people, and some people who would genuinely do well on the game without hacks, but even so, their e-peen demands infinite victory!

I have no problem with hacking singleplayer though (I don't do it) - if it doesn't have an effect on other people, who cares what you do?

They do it for the lolz. For them it's fun to be "better" than everyone else by getting to reach the unreachable or reaching the reachable very quickly. By screwing over other people, they get laughs.

I don't hack multiplayer games, but I've screwed around with plenty of my singleplayer games. I don't hack things like shooters or RPGs, but things like GTA or Just Cause 2? If it lets me blow shit up more effectively and more AWESOME-ly, sure.

Online Hackers: People want attention. If you get to the top of a leaderboard, you get attention.

Offline: It's a lot of fun, as you can do tons of things that you would normally be unable to do.

Most of them can't play for crap, and blame the game. So they get their cheat programs (Not hacks, hacking denotes actually ALTERING the game, these piss-ants just download stuff) to subvert the rules of the game. Others just have fun running around stomping people beneath the heel of their godlike cheats.

Some do it to cheat.
Some do it to test the limits of the game engine.
Some do it because they can.
Some do it to make the game in the first place. ;)

I play in comp and there is nothing worse than someone who hacks/cheats in my eyes. Generally they do it because without it people like myself and other serious comp players would kick the shit out of them all day long and seriously own them.

They do it because they suck, because they want people to think they are good at it, you might get away with it in pub/casual games but in comp you will get boosted big time, Our team boosted some cheats in the clanbase finals, apsolute piss take, 3rd team should have been at the finals but they lost their chance. No respect for cheaters at all.

Saying that I have beat aimbotters before which just shows they seriously suck.

Some do it for the sake of their e-peen, some do it for the lulz, some just to piss others off.

In singleplayer though, I'll do anything if it makes the game funnier or more exciting.

As long as anything takes any form of effort there will be those that wish to cheat the system and get it all for nothing. Not saying that the hacks dont take effort...but you know what i mean.

But this made me think of something. A majority of these "hackers" is that they're really not hackers. They found mods or some keylogger tricks off a website and go phishing. They prey on people that a bit more guilible and trick them into basicly handing them the info needed.
