Well, because it is just a stunt by Microsoft to make more money.

But for the ex-Bugie employees working at 343i, and for the fans, it's a lot more than that.

And we're still gunna love it!

Wierd poll by the way.

I don't think it's going to suck, but I think it'll be an average game. The reason people loved the Halo series so much is because of all the support that Bungie gave the series, now with that gone and 343 industries taking over, I really don't care about the series all that much anymore.

Because Halo's 2, 3 and Reach all sucked big fat donkey balls. Seriously though, the original Halo was practically a masterpiece. I just don't understand why all these fanboys can't face up to the fact that ever since the first Halo game the franchise has been steadily rolling down hill, picking up debris and rabid frat boys as it grows financially larger and larger. Let Halo die, please. And for all you fanboys out there, Half-Life was a much better fps than Halo.

To be fair, Reach has some excellent multiplayer, but as Yahtzee says,(paraphrased) "A game needs to be able to stand up on its single player campaign alone."

Because it's supposed to be a fucking trilogy. (Read the first sentence.) [http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=Halo3Announcement]

Because Halo 3 wrapped up the story. That was supposed to be the end of it.

Everything Microsoft does is a stunt to make money.

They are a company. They have stockholders to satisfy and wages to pay.

Everything is a stunt to make money. Half life episodes were a stunt to make money.

The quality of the game has yet to be seen. I hope they can keep the high bar of quality and post-launch community support that Bungie set before them.

You see my friend, when a series ends, the developers should lay it to rest and try something different. It's dead, you should respect it, but accept that it's gone... unfortunately, sometimes the fanbase spends too long on denial and bargaining, and the developers (or, in many cases, the publishers) realize how much money the franchise is worth, so then they're forced to go bring the franchise back to life... This crude creation is often brought back to life in a horrendous and unnatural matter, and thus is created...

a franchise zombie.

Most games are there to make money, if they didn't make money then they wouldn't have been made.

I've liked all the Halo games I've played so I welcome the announcement.

I'm reserving judgement, I guess the series is in better hands with 343 and Microsoft then with Bungie and Activision.

Took me a while to find the trailer and I have to say not bad. I do hope it is a different enemy we are fighting this time though.

People are offended by this because Microsoft is continuning a work that the creators didn't want to continue.

Not to mention that since every Halo game has roughly the same gameplay, this is a decision almost certainly made with the express intent of making people pay for new multiplayer content.

Surely it depends on actually how good the final game is then we can judge? Rather than just after its offically announced?

Just commented on the Escapist Reveal and I'll say the same thing here.

No one has any idea what this game is going to be like. The gameplay I can estimate will be a lot like the gameplay of previous Halo games, so if you liked them it'll most likely be the same.

But other than that? They've said nothing about the story, nothing about the characters, and nothing about this installment's place in the canon. How can you possibly know it is going to suck? Do the developer's have along history of making awful games? Nope, because they haven't made any yet, and that's how every developer, good or bad, started once. So do the developer's have a history ofmaking bad stories? Nope. They presided over or directly contributed to Halo: Legends, which is awesome, Halo: Evolutions, which I think is awesome, Halo: Fall of Reach comics, which are pretty good, Halo: Helljumper, which I think is awesome.

So they have yet to prove themselves as game designers and have shown they are cpaable of putting out great stories with an in-depth understanding of the Halo universe. And their game will probably be based on the previous Halo games.

Yet somehow people seem to know that the gameplay will suck and the story will be rubbish. How exactly? When and where did you get clairvoyance because I want to know.

I thought that Halo was a trilogy, and I thought the story was wrapped up in Halo 3, so I don't know what the story could expand on in Halo 4. It could be a good game, but it's always best to wait until you can see the screenshots and a trailer before making that first impression in whether or not you are going to enjoy the game.

People may be skeptical with the change in developer. Case in point (this is all my opinion, feel free to contest it if you disagree with what I say) when the Silent Hill franchise changed developers from Team Silent to Double helix the franchise suffered and the story wasn't as engaging and the enemies were either rehashes of old enemies, or didn't have the same "threat" as the previous enemies. Maybe the people who are skeptical of the Halo 4 game don't want to see the series suffer at the hands of the new developers, but I am not a Halo fan so I can't really say. These are just the ramblings and speculations of a bored and lonely person :D.

To me, the trailer looked like a joke. I really hope it's not real, or the game itself is going to kill my favorite game series.

To elaborate, based on that 'starry night' trailer for Halo 3, this is supposed to show a lot about the game, and how it's going to work. For 3, it showed equipment, weapons, vehicles, and enemies. In this trailer for 4, it's showing jetpacks and some stupid one-shot gun. No BR, no Brutes, not even a damned Warthog.
