Poll: Why do players in RDR firmly expect to not be attacked while doing challenges?

I was on tonight and I got a few invites to some groups that I passed on. So I went out to the pike area and there were two groups of people shooting it out. The funny part was that in the voice conversation one posse was laughing and having a good time and the other was pissed that they would not leave them alone.

Huh?

Why on earth would you be such a wimp to expect a safety net in a multiplayer game? Personally, I say yes. I expect to get jumped and will deal with it. It makes it more fun.

Whenever I play online there are at best 4 other people in Free Roam so I don't have to worry to much about getting jumped. What does piss me off is when I'm riding with someone in a posse, we shoot up a few gang hide-outs together and then he suddenly shoots me in the back and steals me horse.

It can be pretty annoying in games when you want to do something interesting but every match devolves into a deathmatch. I'm looking at you Gmod!

Why shouldn't they be left alone? That's the problem with sandbox games online; for everyone trying to do a mission or just explore, there will always be a bucket full of tards messing it up for them.
During one online session, we were hounded by someone determined to take long range pot shots at us. Soon as we fought back and doggedly pursued them as payback, they got bored/frustrated and left us in peace.

But at the end of the day, if they were getting too much for 'em, they could leave and make their own private match so only select friends could roam with them.

Left alone? Sounds like wimp talk to me.

Ha sorry but its true. I do the same challenges and hideouts like anyone else and I could care less if anyone tried to jump us. Its a game! A wild west game! We all should expect it!

Ha generation of sissies.

I just try not to care, though I am only refering to GTA"4" since thats the only one like that I know. My then friends and I often liked to see where we could climb. Or I would get the Maverick and become "Choppa 5!" and just follow people.

You have to admit, it is atmospherically accurate.

Shoot back.

Complaining about this is like bitching about someone sniping in Call of Duty. "Free roam" is free roam. Some will do challenges, others will hunt the deadliest game.
I don't know if you've played but you start off with a revolver which takes about 4 shots at range to kill, others have a rifle with much better range and can kill in 2 shots at range.

So you end up being spawn raped constantly till you can get away, some guy chase me for 10 mins while I tried to get a better gun. He had a horse and I had a donkey so he was faster aswell, I was a sitting duck, I got killed about 20 times.

Thats why people moan, it's also like working in a shop stacking shelves while constantly being asked questions and people messing up your work. Things take twice as long 'cos some jackass wants his lawls.

I know it's the price you pay for going online but it's still annoying.

If they are being griefed by other players, they have the right to complain and be frustrated. Griefing is different than "getting jumped"-- which everyone who plays a PvP game knows is to be expected. If you're following people around and killing them repeatedly, killing quest NPCs or otherwise obstructing their ability to enjoy the game over an extended period of time, it's not really playing a game anymore, it's bullying. Of course they don't want to log on to play a game they're paying for and have a squad of absolute dicks harassing them repeatedly. The harassers may respond by saying "it's a game, lighten up", but bullies seldom recognize how their enjoyment comes at the expense of other peoples'.

But if they're just whining about getting killed a couple of times, then yeah, they should get over it.

Just watched a preview for that and wow, looks pretty sweet. As to getting ganged up on in multiplayer that was a problem in other games like WoW on PVP servers but I kind of liked it (while I still played on there). It had a very 'real' feeling knowing that someone could charge me at any moment, so I had to keep my guard up. (bad example with WoW but you get the idea.)

A little bit of fighting here and there is one thing, but I know from experience that if you are just trying to have fun with friends and some annoying people try to continuously kill you it's extremely annoying. I have sympathy for the group getting jumped.

It's the Wild West after all.
Yup. Roaming groups of gun-happy outlaws is what it's all about.
Sorry all the so called complaining deeming those doing it as "griefers" is killing me. I can't say the "p" word so I'll just said again, Stop being wimps!

Stop it! Stop being wimps! If they shoot you or are constantly trying to kill you then kill them! Fight back! Stop expecting big brother to help you! Ha omg. Kill them!
Stop being wimps! You can't have griefers in a western sand box pvp area!

Ha come on people. Stop being wimps!
