Over 90% of the mainstream market isn't challenging and doesn't put people out of their comfort zones. That's why it's popular.

Well i agree and understand that a lot of people like superman, but you simply cannot tell me honestly that they are interesting in comparison with other superheroes. Same goes for christian God any one of greek gods are more developed than christian God and north or egyptian gods are interesting too.
I think most people like superman because of the villains in it, as for god, thats more of a matter of faith then being interesting.

Different people find different things interesting or boring.. your idea of a really boring day might be someone elses idea of a really exciting day..
Precisely my opinion.

You may have jizzed yourself in excitement when you watched Citizen Kane, but the guy next to you might get excited over Iron Man 2 instead.

*Ahem* its called opinions. Everyone has a bunch of them, and they're all different.
Thats why likes Superman, while you dislike Superman: Because you have different opinions about Superman.

God and Superman are prime examples here.
You know, the concept of the "all powerful" god wasn't first. Before that there were lots of gods, and they each had domain over a certain natural event. The "all powerful" god like the one in Christianity was just a streamlined version.
No fucking way, next time you will tell me that greeks and egyptian had their own gods

Things don't get popular because they're boring. Things get boring because they're popular.
That is true, but it's a paradox.

God could turn people into a pillar of salt and rain fire on your house at any given minute... and don't go calling him boring, because that's when he's got ya right where he wants ya. He'll strike ya down with furious anger and leave you with the mark of evil as everyone you love becomes a pillar of salt in the house on fire.

The good news is you never need to go shopping for salt again... the bad news is everything else.

Superman though? He can - apparently - cause natural disasters the likes of which we've never seen when he has sex. So that Hurricane Katrina, that Tsunami that hit Thailand, that Earthquake that got Haiti... that was all Superman's fault. He's hardly boring as he's the threat to all mankind.

Yep. As for boring things becoming popular, what the guy said... that paradox thing.

Not so true. The not-boring things become boring with the extra publicity and hype. The hype is from where the boring derives. For example, your favourite tiny band strikes a big hit- you hear it on the radio every day, everyone talks about it- you're bored of your once-loved band.

I don't think that boring things are always the ones to become popular. Think about the most popular movies for example. The boring ones typically don't get very far in the public eye.

Same thing goes for music. Lady Gaga is popular in part because she isn't boring, and is quite interesting.

i dont think you're a troll. I think you're ignorant. Which is why my troll sense was tingling and not yours.
Secondly: i ignored my troll sense, and proceeded to explain why "boring things are always popular".
