Are people out there concerned with their ego or actually have innocent intentions involved with the creation of a thread? Answer based on a majority of threads you yourself have created.

It really depends on the thread itself. Generally speaking I'm just curious of other people's opinions on something I'm interested in - I don't really mind if someone agree's/disagree's with me, I just want to see opinions.

1.) To get people's opinions on a question I had at the moment.

2.) To fanboy it up over a videogame/book/anime.

3.) To keep the forum alive.

Usually queries, I suppose. I'm not coherent enough to posit any interesting thoughts I may or may not have, but the community here is usually helpful and informative.

I don't make threads anymore, due to all of mine bombing horribly despite having interesting topics. My motives behind creating threads were usually to share interesting stories of mine and see if anybody else had similar experiences.

I have only ever created one thread (helpfully shown here for reference :p http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.191553-Go-on-show-us-your-minis-painted-miniature-gallery-thread-40K-Warhammer-D-D-anime-whatever )

It is for people to post pictures of miniatures they have painted. This is so I can see other peopels miniatures, discuss techniques and ask questions etc. I haven't made any others as I have no real interest in discussing anything else, I might answer other peoples threads but I'm not interested enough to actually make one of my own.

It depends on the thread. I made a guide because I was feeling helpful, I made a thread about teamkilling because I wanted to know people's opinions, etc.

When I create a thread, I really want to know how people think and what their opinions are regarding certain ideas. Sometimes, I'll toss up a silly thread and see what bizarre and unusual thoughts pop into existance.

Granted, it won't always work because there are so many threads being crafted here that unless a thread really catches fire, folks won't see it. But it's worth the chance to provoke thought and maybe even garner a laugh or two.

Whenever I've made posts it's been either to ask a question (usually hypothetical) or to share some gaming related news I found.

And getting large amounts of people to comment on it feeds my ego's voracious appetite.

Pretty much this, I couldn't have said it better myself. It doesn't matter if people agree or disagree with my view, what's more important is to get a discussion going and finding out what other people think about a specific topic.
