I am a gamer, pure and simple. I own a gaming PC, 11 game consoles (including the 3 current gen systems), 6 handheld systems, and a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

So, my answer was "More then one"

Edit: As to your other question.. the one in the title... "Why do you use the gaming platform you use"... I use them because I like to play games. All types of games.

360 for me. Like a few others here have said, at the time of purchase, the PS3 was ridiculously overpriced and came with very little selection. I've never had an issue with my 360, and love it.

I will only very occasionally play a game on the pc, although several years of my life have been eaten up by a couple of MMOs in the past. I think the last single player game I played on pc was the first Witcher, and before that, Starcraft II.

I've never understood the elitist pc attitude though. I've played the original Dragon Age on console, and watched a few of my friends play it on pc. What the hell's the big difference?

psp, pc, ps2 ( i have to get my fix of xii stag now and then )

i love rts, fps, simulator, which imo work best on pc, with a ton of g series equipment so i spend all my cash there
and you have to have steam for all the cool indie releases, it's just law.

i get racing and fighting games for my psp, because that's what i feel works best on the platform and i use it as a portable media player

i still use my ps2 because i have several titles that have insane re-playability, and it's still illegal to download an emulator even if i own the physical games and console as far as i'm aware

i skipped the whole 360/ps3/wii gen because they don't seem to have anything new except graphics and gimmicks and i wont pay for something i wont use although, the wii games are so random you can feel pro at them just by flailing randomly so they're great for parties

My Nintendo Wii; second to this is my PC, which fills in the gaps Nintendo leaves behind.

The reasons for this, beyond being a fan of Nintendo since I was 5, is the quality of their 1st party games. I mean this in both quality of gameplay AND quality of character and story.

See, I don't need a gritty story to survive. And while Sony and Microsoft have their share of lighthearted or cartoonish games, they never really appealed to me as they always felt like they were trying too hard to appeal to an audience; be it adding grit to the character's environment or attitude to appeal to older players or dumbing down characters and making them overly comedic to get a chuckle from a younger audience.
(I'd love for someone to prove me otherwise, I'd love some solid games to consider when I get a PS3/360)

I've seen that very thing happen to my favorite character from the 90's, Sonic. In all subsequent games they've always tried to sharpen the edge on his personality and bring more conflict into his world via grit and explosions. It always comes off as immature.

On the flip side, Nintendo with all of it's properties has managed to avoid this stigma and has continued to make games that not only play well, but read well. Characters aren't overcomplicated bags of problems; the results are characters that appear rich with characterization and are fun to play as while not having to resort to too many emotional issues to appear deep and developed.

Plus, half of what makes games fun is how you play them. While you can never stray too far from convention, Nintendo does like to mix gameplay up quite often. Well, more often then other AAA game studios do anyway.

As for the gaps my PC fills, well, I finally got around to playing Arkham Asylum and it's quickly become one of my favorite games. Plus TF2 and Left 4 Dead are great FPS titles, I've never been good at console FPSs except Metriod Prime.

Long Story Short:
Nintendo fills in my love for rich, simple stories and fun gameplay while my PC gives me some of the deeper, story rich games that were too big budget to be made for Wii. It also covers a few fun FPSs as well.

not sure what everyone else said but my game system of choice between everything i own is still my n64. i still can't get enough of the good old games of yesteryear even if the graphics are made out of blocks and most of the people look like a doodle.

I'm portable most of the time - I'm on NDS and PSP, but also I do a little PC gaming.

I, rather handily, live in a household with the current-gen consoles, a decent laptop and a DS.

The reasons why I play on each of them though

PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4 - and hopefully Heavy Rain if I get it for my birthday on Sunday :p
Wii: Legend Of Zelda and Super Smash Bros Brawl
PC: Football Manager and Civ, occasionally The Sims 3
Xbox 360: All of my friends that game are on it, plus various other reasons
DS: Pokemon, Advance Wars and Professor Layton

I chose PC, although it's not the only platform I have.

I like PC, because where I live, console gaming is extremely expensive, one of the main reasons why consoles are highly pirated in my country. And I also don't have an HDTV, wich the current gen consoles take for granted and I hate to read itsy bitsy words on my screen.

I find the PC a lot much better to work with and I just like to tweak, customize and tinker with it, also the games generally are much less expensive, thanks to Steam's discounts and many GOG's games, also there are a lot of quality free games available, heck, one of my all time favorite games is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, a 100% free game.

So yeah, PC all the way. With a bit of Wii and NDS to get some Mario, Zelda & Metroid fix, among others.

As per usual I see that the handheld systems are unjustifiably left out of the poll seeing as how in the eyes of the majority they don't count as real gaming systems despite having a far superior library of games than any of the current consoles, so I'll just post in my comment that the DS and PSP are my primary current gen systems. The reason? The same reason I play my NES, SNES, Game Cube, Game Boy Colour, Game Boy Advance, Wii, PS3, and even my Virtual Boy. Because there are games I enjoy playing on them. What other reason would there really be?

If I sound bitter, I don't really mean to. I just find it frustrating being a handheld gamer sometimes since nobody takes the handhelds seriously. :/

I use a PC because most of the games I care about are released for it.

I wouldn't trade Starcraft 2 or Diablo III for the complete library of games of any other console.

I play some games on my PC, the rest on my XBox 360. As to why I chose the xbox...honestly, my previous console had been a PS2, and my choice of xbox or playstation really hinged on which one had Fallout 3 first.

I use the PS3 because the 360 is 90% FPS games, and I'm more of a platformer fan, and I'm a huge fan of Sony's big three (Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and Sucker Punch)

I also use my computer for some indie and flash gaming, but not much for bigger titles.

The 360 merely because the other two dragged behind. Last gen I had all 3 systems, with the PS2 being my primary. However I was initally attracted to the 360 for Oblivion. The Wii did not have enough priority, and the PS3 had that crappy start and aside from the new Twisted Metal, there is nothing I want I cant get on the 360. (aside from stuff I couldnt get on the PS3 either)

I primarily PC game, because I like mod-able games and strategy games. I got a PS3 as well for games that aren't released for PC, and considered the cost justifiable because it's also a blue-ray player.

PC because I need a computer and don't want to shell out for a console and TV when I've already got the computer.

I'll play any platform that has a game for it. I don't see the point in limiting myself to one system.

PC, don't own any of the rest.

It felt like none of them never really had the exclusive killer app unlike last gen. Especially for the price tag the things demand.

Wii, PS3, PC occasionally, and 360 when I can get over to my friends' place. And I play them because they play games. And I quite like playing games. I get my Zelda/Donkey Kong/Kirby/Mario hookup from the Wii, the PS3 gives me Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age, God of War, and plenty of other titles, and the market means most of the games I'd like to download are available, for a fraction of the cost of a shelf game, for the same, if not more, quality and experience. The PC gets me a few other avenues, but since I'm not that into RTS or Shooters, it's more or less my softest gaming platform. But they're all great fun.

I have a PC and a 360. The 360 I use because all my friends have them, it has a solid online service and the controllers are the best I've ever used. The PC I use to play more realistic games like ArmA 2 or RTSs like SCII.

I owned a PS3 for a grand total of 2 days before I returned it. I only bought it to play GT5 and I felt that $300 for one game wasn't worth it.
