MICHAEL BAY KICKS ASS!1!1!one!!1...OK, now that I got that out of my system, I'd like to say that Michael Bay is my favorite director. My favorite movie is Bad Boys 2 (greatest action movie evar), my own username is inspired by him (Michael Bay Fan Club President (which I'm not, by the way)). Even my channel on YouTube (also MBFCPresident) has over 100 videos featuring Bay and/or his work. I also really liked Transformers and am hyped as hell for the next one. In regards to why a lot of people hate him, it's like Yahtzee said in his post-Brawl video, all reviews are subjective (personal). It's just not to some people's tastes. Things some of the haters don't like about Michael Bay's movies, his fans, me included, love. Quick cutting, claustrophobic action, HOT chicks and one-liners are all reasons I go to the movies. That being said, I do also enjoy deep character development and well-paced story progression but I don't think Bay's movies lack these things to any great degree. They aren't even his personal responsibility, he doesn't write his movies. Also, this is just me, now, I prefer action to story, if done well. But I couldn't watch a movie with a poor/NO story (Wolverine), that would just suck. In conclusion (wow, I have written a lot, my fanboyery knows no bounds) I'll list Michael Bay's most notable works.

Commercials: the Got Milk commercials, the Nike Alpha Project commercials, numerous car commercials, some Victoria's Secret commercials and that Verizon Fios commercial, but that was a cameo.

Music videos: I Touch Myself - Divinyls (Yeah, I know :( ), I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) - Meat Loaf (one of three music videos he directed for Meat Loaf), Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees) - Aerosmith and There You'll Be - Faith Hill (theme from Pearl Harbor) Also, to my knowledge, he didn't direct the music video for I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing (theme from Armageddon).

Movies: Bad Boys, The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys 2, The Island, Transformers, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.

I haven't ever seen a Michael Bay movie I didn't at least moderately enjoy.
A lot of people seem to dislike CGI (no clue why) I have no problem with it unless it's really horribly done, which in transformers was far from the case.

You know what I didn't pay good money to see? Ten story tall robots sneaking around a residential area while some boy I have no interest in is being lectured about masturbation by his parents.
Hey, at least Ironhide finally learned why every time he lubricates his tertiary drive piston, his head gasket blows and his ball bearing races go slack.
LOL!

I think the problem I have with most of Michael Bay's films is that have gotten so bloody formulaic. Good guy + Hot chick + Something exploding + Something destroyed + Guy and chick make out + Villain disappears = Profit! and Sequel profit!

Also, he has such an ego on him, that he thinks he makes the best bloody movies ever, and I would love to walk up to his face and tell him "Your movies are on the same level as viral videos where some teen gets smacked in the nuts." Sure security would beat the shit out of me, but it would be worth it.
Michael Bay has no freakin' ego! Didn't you see that Verizon Fios commercial where he parodied himself or that one for Commonwealth Bank? Or did you see them and take them seriously? Here, read this article if you want to learn something actually true: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2009/05/michael-bay-blows-it-up-real-good-140-terrabytes-used-for-transformers-2-effects.html

Crap, I read the poll wrong and voted no, when I meant to say yes. I personally enjoy his films.
I did the same thing, sorry, I enjoy his films, if character development is a problem then blam the writer.

The Transformers movie sucked. Take that, fanboys.

Of course, it wasn't simply because of Michael Bay's (questionable) take on directing. It's only because I dislike ridiculous movies. This includes any and all super hero movies.
wow you must be a really boring movie date.

anyway I like Micheal's special effects, transformers was awesome.
(Am I the only one who realizes that shiny special effects =! good movie?)
I'm a very tolerant person, and don't show my dislike when it would be inappropriate.
Also, I've only been on 1 movie date *cries in a small and insignificant corner*

I liked Transformers as well, but people seem to hate him for his reliance on special effects instead of character development.
Your logic fails you. Orgasmic special effects do not make the whole movie better.
It's like games these days, where the development crew spends 3 years on the graphics and 1 month on everything else. Does this argument make sense?

I thought Transformers was good, and I don't care what anyone says I liked The Island, and Bad Boys 1 & 2. How does liking giant explosions make you lame or gay?
no one said it made you gay, if it wasent for the fact that he is bullshit i might have said
freudian slip?

No...... a Freudian slip would be "No i don't wank, I mean want, that horse!"

It's OK I remember the first time I ever made fun of someone too.

So what other films has he done?
armageddon, for starters. i used to like that movie, but it didn't age too well, even if it's only like, 9 or 10 years old. it's got corny acting, some bad jokes, and some all-too-perfectly-choreographed shots (like when they come back from space and ben affleck & liv tyler kiss just as a squadron of fighter jets does a fly-by right over their heads). it's not bad, it's just kinda slow and cheesy.

bad boys II, which used that "shake ya tailfeather" song in every other scene!!. again, not a bad movie per se, but it just hasn't aged very well, even in such a short time span (i remember watching it in high school, which was only a few years ago).

transformers was pretty good, but i think--excuse me, i KNOW--it's gonna suffer from the same ills as his other films. "the boy's pheromone levels suggests he wants to mate with the female." thanks for the cock-block, ratchet. (i will admit, i thought it was funny the first time, but i see that clip now, and it makes my brain hurt)

I really like 'The Rock', I think it is the best movie he's directed.
