All those massive trollings on innocent sites? All the death threats and verbal harassments towards the families of people who died?

Anonymous is a group that portrays itself as under a somewhat noble cause and then does everything they can to show that they are far from noble.
Anonymous isn't a group. 'They' don't do anything, members do things, sometimes together. If anon saves a burning orphanage, then a guy saved it and chose to call himself anonymous. If anon burns an orphanage, a guy burned it and chose to call himself anonymous.
And still, the group promotes free speech (allegedly) while trolling anyone who dares disagree with them.

I like to think of them as neutral. They troll the Westboro Baptist Church but at the same time they are major assholes... I guess they are neutral.

PS: Please don't hack my account

Are people forgetting what the word Anonymous means? Seriously this is getting retarded now, and I know there is one user on this site, who's name I forget, and every single time Anon is mentioned he says they should all "be hung upside with their throats slit" or something as equally retarded. Anyway it involves killing them, which is just a really dumb idea. SORRY OFF TRACK. But yeah, look up what Anonymous means, and ANYONE CAN USE IT! But that Fox 11 report is just hilarious. They were all obviously actors. LULZ!

well i always though they were behind the psn hack
why?
well when the ps3 hack guy (cant remember his name)
hacked the ps3 and sony was on his ass on a lawsuit
anonymous said they would give sony payback for trying to sue someone
that was only using what he bought and they had no right to sue him
it led in the end to anonymous DDOS'ing the psp home and taking down the site for a while
but im not sure since anonymous LOVES bragging when they do something
like a drama queen
its just interesting that they dint claim they did it whitch probably mean they dint do it

back on topic anonymous is evil
but not evil stab stab
evil in the eyes on normal people
maybe because of their methodes and their language
anonymous main role is to protect free speech and have lulz

their main source of attack are DDOS (go check what it is im too lazy to explain)
and hacking
since they have no leader (their like a flock of birds, moving together but no leader)
hope it clears the air
and also they said they wouldn't because they felt like dicks for fucking over the fans because they didn't do anything wrong, which would totally contradict the new worldwide hack.

it would be dicky to mess with innocent people who had nothing to do with psp
anonymous only attack guilty companies or people
or individuals who asked for it
or for the lulz

It depends. Them attacking PSN before those other hackers brought it down was nasty. But they've also stopped/helped find animal abusers. So, neutral.

They tend to screw a lot of good people over in their attacks on their targets, and their methods are....
questionable.

The ends don't justify the means.

I like them, I had very few problems with them before but now, I love them since they attacked the WBC. Anonymous have my support for now. From what I've heard they've also taken the dark side, I don't hate them for that, but I don't fully support it.
I like them because they hate censorship, so do I. Language/art shouldn't have limits, only requirements.

Anonymous is neither "evil" nor (arguably) an "organization". They're the chaotic neutral of the internet.

They're just random internet trolls for the most part as far as I can tell. They're not really a group with any kind of single goal, they're just a bunch of people who post under the same name.
this, pretty much. pretty much the only way to be considered "in" anonymous is to say you are.

Around here? Generally because of their methods and causes. Escapist is anti-hacking/piracy in general (and in a rule enforcement point of view). Anonymous both supports piracy and uses hacking to get their point across.

I cant wait to see what happens with this Iran thing, cause if any uprising happens, I'm solely placing the blood of whoever dies on their hands.
I'm with you, these next few months are going to be very interesting. I am behind them on OpIran, and hope that the cyber attacks on the Iranian government today achieves the goal of giving Iranians better civil rights and freedom of speech. Doubtful, definitely, but I still hope.

I just like how people talk about anon like its a singular group.

Yes, anon took down PSN. Because we don't know who did it. Making them anon. Anon also caught a guy trying to groom kids on a chatroom.

In other words, everyone, please, do me a favor and stop talking about anon like its a group. Its starting to get old.

Edit:

Also, that video made me laugh. Internet hate machine? Says the news site which uses every strawman available to them so they don't actually have to prove a point, ever?

The majority I've seen are pretentious dickwads, but if they've done some good, I can excuse some of their members' over-the-top trolling.
