Anonymous are nothing more than a pack of douchebags. They don't have "noble causes", everything they do, good or evil, they do because it amuses them. The core philosophy of their existance is "I do it for the lulz". And frankly, someone who does both good things and bad things on nothing more that a whim is a bad person to me, because while everyone SHOULD be good as a matter of course, only bad people do bad things willingly.

I take Anonymous on a case by case basis. I generally support them, especially when concerning subjects such as the Westboro Baptist Church, but some of their activities are beyond questionable.

What is it with giving a mostly neutral thread such a one-sided and (dare-I-say) trollish a title. I was almost dissuaded to check this thread out at all because a title like that implies either utter ignorance or shameless trolling. I am not trying to be rude... I've never thought of them as either the heroes or villains of the internet, to me they are neutral, and if FOX News says their bad, well that just makes Anonymous seem better to me.
"Anonymous" itself is not evil. It's a word meaning that the name is unknown. However a few people like to take it to the next level and sit (from their basements mostly) and do shenanigans. It's not some secret lair in the Himalayas with super secret technology run by an evil corporation that's dead set on destroying people via internet, like Fox news tries to depict it.
I picked "Evil" simply because the people that take the word to heart are usually pretty ridiculous with their internet trolling (taking trolling to a new level, less for fun and more for their own sick self esteem gain.) I've known many people on both sides of the anon fence, the people who were hackers (or attempted to be) were royal dicks, only doing it to boost themselves because apparently society hates them (like internet hipsters with guns) while the ones who simply use it as it is, a word, so their identities are not put in jeopardy are normal people.

Anonymous is human nature given form and an internet connection. Sure, sometimes it does what's right, but more often it does what's funny. And some other group of Anons think to do something else.theheroofaction said:

They're activities have a tendency to hurt more people than they protect. Example being the PS3 hacking issue. Of all the people that owned PS3's, very few supported the PS3 hackers. Now PSN has went down. Is it known that Anonymous is responsible? No, but the fact that they attacked Sony a short time beforehand and the fact that they have no leader that can say for sure that no one in their organization is conducting the attacks makes them rather suspicious. The same 'doing more damage than good' principle carries over to the raids they conduct as well.

I personally think they defy description, having both "members" with good and bad intents and behaving much more like a random selection of people rather than an organization. It's a banner, at least in my mind, some people with the title are good and others are dicks; sorta like how a country operates, having both bad people and good people with different ideals united under a flag even if they don't share much common ground.

I think Anonymous is kinda.... well... human. They help track down animal abusers but they also screw with the internet. I find them neutral but leaning on the good side.... y'know, like Deadpool.
