Because up until assisting the people in Iran they've spent most of their time screwing over innocent people and helping people who don't need help.

They're sort of like an internet Westboro-Church in my opinion.

'Course, now that I said that, they're probably gonna hack me. Doh.

I don't care for the most part.

From what I read and hear, they are lovers of free speech who have decided hacking their way across the internet to cause trouble is the best way to accomplish their goal.

But I don't know much so I can't judge them apart from their methods, which I do take issue with.

Sometimes they can be right. Other times they're self righteous idiots who don't know how to act correctly in society.

we forget to consider the fact that anon has no leadership, what they do is entirely based on what a given member can convince others to help him/her do

"Anonymous" isn't an entity. At all. People decide they're going to pout htemselves under the umbrela but it's nothing in reality. It's just people who aren't smart enough to come up wiht a name for themselves.

Every attack they ever do is fucking with information, never stealing it. Stealing information is an act of an independent hacker for financial gain. Look at every single operation anonymous ever did. They have documents detailing everything. Anyone who pays attention for five seconds to the internet will find that out. Want to know their "big" operation for the past week? They are putting Nyan cat on Pril. A fucking internet vote. Hell the day PSN was hacked 4chan said nothing. Without a thread or picture detailing the plan to "hack the PSN" anonymous isn't responsible.

Also "Guilty until proven innocent" only flies in Mexico's legal system. Arguments from ignorance does not work either:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance
Oh I'm sorry I forgot that if an organization doesn't claim responsibility they didn't do it. I mean it's not like the CIA preforms covert operations in foreign countries because if they did we would be able to see their documents.
Anonymous isn't an organization. Saying that is like saying Atheism is a religion. It is not. If PSN was hacked by anonymous there would be documents on it. Almost every operations they ever do has a picture detailing the goals and a thread dedicated to it. There were none.

Nice strawman argument by the way:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man
Again, your operating on the assumption that because they did it before, that means they have to do it every time, and that's just not true. And Atheism is a religion, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion, "Religion is a cultural system that creates powerful and long-lasting meaning by establishing symbols that relate humanity to beliefs and values."

Roughly 3/4 of anon activity is good and 1/4 is bad. They aren't one group of people with similar ideas, they're 80 groups of people with different ones. So let's go with bi-polar vigilante/serial killer.

What else have they done? are they behind the PSN hack?
No.

Technically anonymous isn't really an organization at all. I would consider it a loose confederacy of people who specialize in computers who assist each other in mutual partnership. As for the original question no I don't believe that they are evil however some individuals may have gone too far in their actions.

Evil. They hold others to account, but refuse to be heald in the same way.

Anon

*likes wanton cruelty and destruction
*dislikes being thwarted
*loathes helping others
*loves baiting all that is good and orderly.

We've seen Evil groups before. Though they were Evil, they were always intelligible; Some were ruthless, some were callous, some hot-tempered, others insecure. We could understand why they were that way, even if they were irritating as all hell.

But Anon? Completely different. You can see its evil from miles away and has absolutely not one single redeeming trait in all its users. Anon triumphs in random acts of inhumanity and, conversely, despises any form of kindness or compassion. Its one comprehensible emotion is probably selfishness.

Because they cant shake the fact that they've done some seriously douchy things in the past, like threating little kids or stealing everyones login info from that one website.

Possibly because they make a great scapegoat.
Anyways, I think they're not vigilantes and they're not evil nor are they good. They're just a group that does what they want to do. Sometimes it's for the benefit (or serves to the benefit) of others, and sometimes it's just a couple of anonymous people on the internet being dicks.

And if you mean 'everyone' as in Fox news and everyone who watches Fox news, you need to get out more. And they think everything is evil if they don't seem to quite understand it.

Anonymous have their good and bad sides, you have to remember it's an organization. Not just the one (wo)man. There is a variety of mixed opinions in there, and it's also not just the same people over and over either...

"I think they must be domestic terrorists"
Shows [demonstration] of some random vehicles exploding.

Wow... because that's completely inbiased news reporting. I actually slapped my own face so hard my vision is now blurred.

You do realize that you just used a pretty good definition for the word "organization" to claim that Anonymous doesn't qualify as one, right?
