They represent the collective will of the internet, so naturally they can accomplish great good and great evil thus the greatest example of the chaotic neutral.

One minute they save you and your family from a fire and the next they're having sex with your wife. They simply do what they want.

I just can't get over how every time Anonymous is mentioned, all ye who hear them begin shaking in their proverbial internet boots. Why is this?
They don't.

By and large people don't give a shit about anything.

I don't think of them as Evil, but i think they don't like me very much: what they did triggered a chain of events that makes me a very sad puppy.

I'd never heard of them until they took down the PSN (the time before it really went down). So they seem like hackers who illegally disrupt a system and don't like gaming to me.

And they do that shit, then a week later (or less than a week) the PSN goes down for real. Fishy. Hackers can go jump off a bridge.

anonymous main role is to protect free speech and have lulz
That would be well and good, except for the fact that the group has shown itself to be completely hypocritical, basing their attacks on Sony on the fact that Sony was granted access to information. Information, of course, should be free for all, accoring to the bullshit that most hackers spew from their word boxes, when they talk about why they don't respect the privacy of others.

Give me 5 minutes wth a couple of these jack offs, and we'll see who's laughing at the end. All I'll need will be 5 blank cds and a loaded Swingline stapler.

For the record, I'm not angry wth Sony for my personal information being stolen from PSN. I'm angry at the fucking thieves who took it. And, well, Anonymous claimed credit on Facebook. It's clobbering time if I ever meet one of these bastards.
You do realize that there isn't a single shed of proof for your claims.

"Take a break from online gaming for a while.....it will help your skills, your health, and your emotional levels, which by the way are a bit out of order if they are being shackled by the PSN being down. We have no qualms about our actions, even though it may affect fellow anonymous or supporters... we hope they understand the bigger picture."

That's from their Facebook page, posted 10 days ago. Sounds a lot like gloating, to me. Excuse me, I need to find my stapler.

Anonymous is just that. Anonymous.

They are everyone and no one. Good and bad. Everywhere and nowhere. They do what they want, when they want, however they want to do it, for whatever reason they want to do it for.

And because of that, they're probably the strongest human force on earth.

But do I think they're evil? No. Their good deeds outweigh the bad.

They seem to consider themselves above the law.

If that's actually the case then that's my problem with it.

I must admit that they do some awesome stuff at times, though.

Look up. There are other hackers out there besides anonymous. Hell, the college board was hacked too but not by anonymous.
You don't find the timing suspicious? Is there a reason you want to give them the benefit of the doubt?

Everyone in 4chan outside of /b/ is generally embarrassed about what "Anonymous" does. Sometimes they do something kind of nice, but a lot of the time they get angry over silly things and their only real strength is that they've got a large potential base.

Maybe its cause they get their kicks from hacking innocent peoples facebook accounts and posting their private details online. But hell what do I know maybe that's the kind of action a benevolent organisation undertakes.

That said anonymous isn't really an organization is a loose affiliation of individuals some of them are good people some of them are bad people just like the rest of the world.

Thing about Anonymous, as I under stand it, is that they are not a singular group. So for you to say:

HigherTomorrow said:
Project Chanology? All those times Anonymous has saved abused animals? The group fights censorship and tries it best to keep civil rights, net neutrality, etc., all these acts of literal internet vigilantism, and everyone seems to think they're some kind of internet hate machine.
would be partially wrong. Anonymous is many things. They are both good and evil, righteous and dickish, they are many, many things... the only thing they are not is truly one. They are not a singular group, but many groups that use the same name. The thing is, when one or more of those groups do something good, only people like us really see that, and care. When they do something bad, that gets noticed much easier by the public.

So the reason why they are portrayed in a bad light is because the acts that gain notoriety are the only ones spoken about in the major news circuits. And like everything, more people know about it, the more likely they're to form an opinion around it, whether or not they have both sides of the story.
