It doesn't matter one bit for the majority of the population. Oe rather, it shouldn't. Unfortunately, politics and religion has become seriously blurred in many countries to the point where homosexuals are not afforded the same rights as heterosexuals.

Many that argue the point always seem to fall back to the religion aspect, especially when it comes to marriage for gay couples. Regrettably, many governments sided with the loudest voices, which happened to be those of the religious "majorities" of last century. While the times are changing, it seems it will be a while before gay couples are fairly treated. Even in Australia with a supposedly aetheist Prime Minister, allowing gay marriage had to be put to a CONSCIENCE vote because none of the two parties were willing to ratify it outright.

But in response to the OT, no, it shouldn't matter one bit the sexuality of another person. For some retarded reason, far too many people (especially men) seem to think that they need to beat off the teeming hordes of homosexuals lusting after them, which has bred a seriously misguided form of homophobia. Regrettably, discrimination and stupidity will reign wherever ignorance can be found. No, you should not be allowed to judge a person on their sexuality, but it happens far too often.

As far as I'm concered though, consenting adults can do what consenting adults do behind closed doors. It is none of my fucking business, which is the same reason why I don't go around asking ANYONE what they get up to in the sack. Especially bearing in mind that sexuality is one of those things that is actually hard wired into your brain. YOU CANNOT HELP IT, so as far as I'm concerned, sexual discrimination is just like gender or racial discrimination. It is born out of an irrational and uneducated prejudice and is inflicted on a person that cannot in any way, shape or form alter their genetics or heritage.

I'd rather know to tell a guy I'm straight, than have to refute his advances.
See, I've never understood this mentality. I've been in bars and have been hit on by gay men and even though I am straight, I always found it to be rather easy to just say "I'm flattered, but not interested."

This sort of stuff is only as awkward as people make it out to be and gay men are no different than anyone else. They aren't out to convert straight guys when there are a plethora of interesting gay guys to choose from already.

It matters to me personally because it helps determine whether or not there's even a possibility of me dating someone. :p

But other than that it's not a big deal, I hope that in 20 years these sort of 'discussions' are limited only to the internet.

Well, technically sex-based procreation is no longer necessary thanks to modern technology. I'm sure if some kind of gay epidemic broke out and spread homosexuality to 100% of the population, we could still continue the world's population with sperm donation even after the fabulocalypse.
As long as men are willing to j*** o** in a cup then we should be fine, and I don't see that stopping anytime soon :3

In all seriousness though, there is nothing wrong with being any type of orientation as long as the other partner is of age and is consenting.

Also DeadSp8s seems like he was raised by homophobes or something, homosexuality exists in over a dozen species on the planet and non of them are in danger of breeding problems. And cizilizations for over the last 3000 years have been experencing homosexuality and all of them are ok.

Well Japan is having a birth rate crisis but thats do to hetro couples not willing to marry because of social and finacial situations.

Sexual orientation matters when

1) people let it define them

2) the person in question is completely obnoxious about it (see, bisexual high school girls, and obnoxious, in-your-face gay men.

I really don't care.
Were I live we have very few (open) homosexuals so all my encounters are abit "weird" but I try to cope.
I don't understand it but I don't judge it either, everyone to their own.

No. You'd have to be a complete fucking moron to let someone else's sexuality bother you. If you want get on that then you're free to bemoan your bad luck, but everyone else is entirely irrelevant to you.

The population has increased by like 3 billion since the 1970s, so I think we're safe there. Plus, there have always been gay people, and its never been an issue towards population growth.

some people are bothered/baffled as to how some base their entire Identity on being gay...but other than that theres no issue

because gayness is only really a recent thing and hasnt been around since like forever right? and its not like there were civilisations where it was common place right? (greece)

and of coarse the human populations right now are dangerously low right?

AND of coarse theres all that other important stuff...like hunter gathering...working out how to make fire...and fighting off those other tribes which we should really be focusing on thease days.....right?
If everyone is gay, there is no future. If everyone is straight, we're fine.
Not everyone is gay, so there's no problem.

I didn't realise "I'm no scientist" was code for "I'm an idiot".

I think it's none of my business. And honestly, if they don't make a big deal of it, it doesn't even affect me. Homosexuals who go around proclaiming their sexuality I have a problem with, in the same way that I have a problem with anyone who tries to force their views upon me. This goes for homosexuals who act stereotypically gay (talking about males here mainly), I don't hate them because they're gay, I find them annoying because they're acting like idiots.

his saying:
i don't care who you like to fuck, just don't keep telling me because i don't need to know.
it's pretty decent logic.

I personally have an issue with bisexuals, because they steal partners from both straight men and women as well as gay men and women when it's already hard enough to get a date, but that's another story for another day. /Personal bias
you do realise that straight men and women, and gay men and women, do that to other straight/gay men/women? its called monogamy. the only reason you should care is if you're bisexual. and why do you care if a bisexual male is dating gay men (if you're straight)? or if a bi female is dating lesbians (if you're straight OR gay because how could you bang a lesbian)? do you have an issue with heterosexuals (if you're straight) because they're also taking all the women into relationships.

it's not like you hear people screaming out about how they are straight.

...Because straight people haven't been actively persecuted, treated as second-class citizens, and had basic rights withheld from them because some people didn't agree with their idea of sexual preference.
That's no reason for them to boast about it wherever they go, and make you out to be a homophobe if you don't completely agree with their sexual status. Of course this isn't all homosexuals but some of the more flamboyant annoying ones, which irritate me highly.
