Honest question... why?

The graphics have the potential to be amazing, they only really have to detail 2 characters. Then some partial work on the crowd.

Sure they could go deeper with it and include bigger fights like 10vs10, or throw in some lions etc, etc.

I just want to know why no one has made a true gladiator game? The only one I can remember was "Road to the Colosseum" and that was back on the PS2 and had awful graphics and gameplay.

But it was still a great game, so with that said. Why has no one actually put time into making that type of game. Sure there are multiple other gladiator games but they all fall under at least one of the following problems:

- Dynasty Warriors syndrome, also known as D.W.S (Where it is a single individual pitted to endless numbers of enemies.)

- The game is just unrealistic where people are getting hit by a freaking sword 20 times and losing countless buckets of blood. Whilst the person hitting them is wielding "The super ultra lighting sword of death +25 fire damage"...

or...

- Lack of funding... the developers of the game did not have a large enough budget to actually make a AAA game of what they were attempting to make. (Not that there's anythign wrong with that, but sometimes it's just annoying to see the small developers making the good games while the larger ones make the repetitive yearly titles.)

SOMEONE, ANYONE... MAKE A GLADIATOR GAME!!! No lightning swords, no 10ft enemies, no hordes of enemies who all die in one or two hits.... you get my point.

Why have no developers tried it? I personally as a gamer believe it would dell like hot-cakes.

But I do like the idea of realistic swordfight in games: a hit with a blade will hurt you big time, and not slowly chip away a bar...

Yeah, that game didn't look all that bad.

However, still not up to par with this generation... in my mind anyway.

Because thats pretty much a fighter? I dont think theres too much demand for a gladiator title anyway, so no devs have a real reason to make one

Btw its nice to know that if i enjoy Black Ops im suddenly a mindless sheep

So basically what you are looking for is a fighting game/beat 'em up with a gladiator theme?

Sounds like it could be cool.

You do know that the majority of the fanbase plays it because they like it right?

You hit on a good note. Why isn't there? And it doesn't have to be like most fight/beat em up games like soul calibre. A game where you have a proper story mode chronicling the life from slave to free man. You choose the physic of the fighter like in boxing sims, different arenas, fighters, gladiator schools. You train your fighter to your fighting style like a boxing game. Yeah, it would work if properly done. I think you've hit on something.

You should check out this game http://www.runegame.com/ It is quite old and unfortunately there hasn't been a new release for it was one of the best gladiator style games ever made. The singleplayer was great, the multiplayer was awesome.

It fits all your criteria, though it's not the gladiators from rome but the viking era.

haha, good one. Do you know any "knock knock"'s?
Im going to try my best to not be rude about this, but you are generalizing heavily. If people didnt enjoy Call of Duty then it would have never become the juggernaut it is today.

Think for a second before you judge millions of people

Try this game:
Centurion: Defender of Rome [http://www.abandonia.com/games/23]
There's not only a gladiator mini-gmae, but racing chariots too.

Mount and Blade Warband has tournaments and arenas, it's incredibly indepth and has a PROPER medieval fighting style, no 50 foot blades, no endless armies on your own, (You'll be with your own army if you'd like, or just a Tourny Junkee, or a Trader)

Sadly, I cannot get it to work. It says it won't run in full screen mode and asks me to terminate it, it won't give me the option to run it in a window.

Any solutions?

Yeah I know, I play it constantly. However the graphics let it down. Still an excellent game though.

If you want a good gladiator game, go buy mount and blade and play a tournament or arena match. It's alot like a gladiator-minigame, with realistic damage systems.

Seriously, try it.

Firstly, they exist.

Secondly, there are so few of them because very few people will buy them.

Thirdly, sheep don't buy popular games. Sheep make forum posts bagging them to look like 'one of the cool guys who is all anti-mainstream.' Those guys buying and playing Call of Duty? They're too busy having fun and enjoying their game to make said posts.
