This is both an intellectual discussion and a test to see how long before i get put on probation for this but i have to ask

Why is sex such a "cover your eyes and ears for fear of them melting" kind of topic? In movies, games, and even books rate sex as an object to be censored more then violence or anykind of unnatural drug. This is the part that complexes me, sex is a natural part of human life. It is required for survival of a species and for people to evolve to higher more adaptable states. Its way more natural then any form of decapitation or choking someone with a bag. But interestingly extream violence is more acceptable then sex is. Maybe i'm viewing this a little to practically but honestly who has NEVER been to a porn site.

I'm sick and tired of my school, my news, my everything ready to throw down the hammer on any kind of sexual conduct because they fear it will corrupt us..... I'm sorry but i can tell you 45 ways to effectivly torture someone, i've seen on the news that thousands were killed because of extreamists and i can cuss with the best of them and they fear that something as basic as sex will corrupt me? maybe (i am not trying to bash anything) if people put their misunderstood bible beliefs down (again not trying to bash anything if you really have a problem with this reference send me a message don't off-topic this discussion with a religious war) and their bandwagon politics away we can finally put an end to this forbidden fascination and satanization (probably not a word but you get it) of sex.

Heres a video link of exactly what i'm talking about (fuck fox news) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKzF173GqTU&feature=PlayList&p=E85694230F963B37&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=35

i know this is an old debate but its still a good example
p.s this might have been a topic before i missed it so i want to talk about it

Based on what I know about ancient cultures, it's taboo primarily because of Abrahamic Religion. Same applies with...well, everything relating to sexuality. Most cultures prior to the introduction of said faiths were fine talking about and engaging in a variety of sexual practices (see pre-Christian Japan, for example). [He who must not be named]/God/Allah gets introduced, that's one of the first things to go.

EDIT:
Just to clarify, that basically means that it's still taboo because it was taboo 50 years ago, and was taboo then because it was taboo 50 years before that, etc.; at this stage I think that the western world could handle open sex talk without imploding if it honestly wanted to, but humans (...and basically everything else in the ****ing universe) are naturally averse to change, so it's going to take a while before we see it coming to fruition.

Society just is uncomfortable. I think it may be left over from the highly conservative 50's era and the fact that we know nothing about it (scientifically speaking).

The main issue with sex in the media is people masturbate to it. Some people masturbate to violence but more people masturbate to regular sex, and most parents don't want their children to masturbate. Also, if fiction is too sexual people ghettoize it, you don't want that for your work unless you are Anna Rice.

Oi! Please don't go all "moral" on me. Sex can be had at any time if both members are ready and are atleast eighteen. (Or seventeen that's very close to being eighteen.)

And I think it's an issue because:
1) Kids that should not have it shouldn't get the idea of it, because people are afraid they may act on participating on it.
2) Because porn has made sex an entertainment and "stress-reliever", people don't want that sort of smut to be shown publicly. It might cause public masturbation or something of the sort, and frankly, some people don't want to stare at a d*** during a perfectly good (or horribly bad) movie.

Wait... what? Since when does science know nothing about sex?
We barely started getting into the science of it in the last 50 years or so. Not so much the sperm fertilizes eggs, more the science behind an orgasm (it's purpose and the body's response) and sexual stimulation.

Sex is only a stigma in OUR country (USA) because many settlers of the country were Puritans. The puritan ideals around sex have really followed through over the years.

Sex isn't treated the same way in many countries. Japan, France, England for example are far more open about sex both in the media/entertainment and in their lives.

Sex is really over-blown as far as how we view it here, to a stupid degree honestly.

Should children have sex? No, you shouldn't have sex until you reach legal adulthood
Should you have sex just because you are now an adult? No, have it when you feel you are ready
Should you have sex before you marry? Yeah, you really really should (IMO). Like anything in life, experience improves performance.

So you are for Wife swapping parties? What if some fat ugly woman wants me when I have a woman with a perfect body? That sounds DISGUSTING and not cool in my book.

I believe that Sex is perfectly fine between consenting individuals who understand that sex is meant to make a relationship BETTER, not just make a relationship. (I have nothing against casual Sex, it just isn't my cup of tea.)

Also, I am GLAD I have made love to my girlfriend before marriage, as it is the only way I know my love for her is unconditional, and that I am not rushing into marriage simply to get sex, as I have seen some people do...

Personally, I do not see what the big stigma is surrounding Anal sex. My girlfriend and I BOTH enjoy it with each other frequently.

Have any of you who disdain it ever actually TRIED it, or do you just assume it is gross?

(If you two take PROPER care of yourselves, there is nothing unsanitary about it at all.)
First. I believe he meant a married man and woman, not swinging.

Second. Mobius, on the whole "anal" thing. Too much fucking information, bro. I'm all for expressing your love however you want, but... really, man, I didn't want to know that.

I get this; I agree with it - why does the media shy away from it?

Shouldn't they be censoring the violence as well?

I wonder what the rating system is there for...

I think it's because parents let their 11 year old daughters fuck their 15 year old boyfriends and get pregnant. Pedo's and Rapists bro, they make it bad for everyone else.

I believe that sex must be taught to children so they have a clue what it is, but they should also be informed that both parties need to agree on it and should be morally acceptable among everyone (and by that I mean they should at least have idea of what they're doing and not be underaged).
