The funny thing about this question, is that when i asked in the same way. he just looked and me asked the main game never changes? or is it the anime?. and i just laugh at it.

But in all seriousness. I am talking about the Pokemon anime (don't worry the game will get it's time soon). I have first start around 1995, and i was 5 when i first watched the pokemon when it came on the WB. And me and my friends always watch and big fans of it. we always watched it ash and his friends traveled around kanto battling, getting his gym badge, we always like when team rocket always used different plans to try and catch pikachu but they were sent blasting off everytime. then we always get songs at the end of the episodes and even sang with it (the best was team rocket) everytime.

Nowadays whenever we saw pokemon, all we ask is

Why is ash still here ,
still 10 years old,
still doing the almost exact same plot for everyone season now.

It confuses me how the show keep on copying the same plot every time ash go's on to the next region? He never develop his character, and when he does it will most likely be reset when enters the next region. He will always drop his pokemon after every region except Pikachu. He will always have a rival who are even though they will have the same character development, but at-least they?re at have some vague change to them. But after the tournament they will most likely never been seen again.

Speaking of tournament, Ash will always never win these Leagues championships! He will always come to like 14-10 placement in the rank. No matter how much training. No matter how he uses his pokemon. He will lose every time! Then he?ll just say the usual ?maybe in the next region, he will win??.GAAAAH!

Don?t even get me started on the always different girl character who will follow Ash in every different region. Always be the maybe, maybe not relationship each other they give vaguely. Their character is develope (way more than ash) and some even go deep. But then at the end they just leave. Misty was around 2 seasons now and she just left. Even though she and Ash were considered close to each other, she just up left. Probably showed up about two times, but really not much.
Same for brock (way more developed than ash) and cilan (did not really notice) who basically was brook lite. Who both came off as the informants who will go around with ash for? odd/ vague reason why.

Then we have Team Rocktet who, even though they do the same plan to capture Pikachu and/or other pokemon that are with ash. They will fail there plot and blast off and be back next episode. But still they have character, they do other things to do, sure they have to capture Pikachu but at least she other things. In black and white series they made a huge huge serious character development, they were more precise, they were actually on a huge plot against the other team plasma. That was way more interesting than Ash doing the same plot.
GAAAAH

im sorry if im Ranting on. But after I heard their doing another show about ash in a new region. And since they?re basically copying the dirt sued plot over again from what I heard?.WHY??. Am I missing something when it comes to the anime, I must be missing something. Was all that plot actually getting better and I missed something??

I stopped watching around the Lapras travels for the same reasons you did. I hear Ash is still walking around, catching 1 Pokemon for every 20 he meets. It's one big vicious fucking circle that will never stop without the slightest dramatic curve. Good thing I'm out.

EDIT: And I don't mind the whole "Ash is always 11" thing. Bart has been 10 longer than Ash has been 11. You don't see people complaining about that. To complain about Ash's age is just a needlessly picky way of complaining about how the show, unlike its eponymous critters, has never evolved - probably because its target demographic hasn't evolved either. The phenomenom is still mostly marketed at kids.

I recently watched this vid on it:

Doesn't really effect me. The first season was the end of me having interest in the show way back when. I always preferred the games!

Why? It's because while the Pokemon video games are enjoyed by fans of all ages, the anime is more aimed at the younger end of the fanbase who tend to have a fast turnover: none of the primary demographic of the show would even have been born when the show started back in the late 90's. With that consider, it makes sense for the producers to just recycle the same basic plot every few years for each new generation of kids growing old enough to enjoy it.

Well then why not just change the characters every time. ash has been around for close to 20+ years now and he never changes. Why not change the main character after every season. let say ash won his tournament and then after that the story goes over to one of the other trainers that was in the tournament that lost when he battled ash. then we can simply just shift over to that character when they're goin to the new region. see! thats easy. we get ashes story is fone. we move over to a character who may have showed up in ash's journey. we now have a new trainer with a different development.

See. is that so hard.

I voted yes, now I realise you are talking about the anime I want to change to no.

It started out interesting. Now I don't even bother watching it. The show isn't funny, it's stale. Team Rocket were boring by the time Celadon came along. Ash's pokemon not evolving is stupid. I could go on. Origins is a better series and I've only watched two episodes.
