Got to lvl 73. The quests tried to entice me by trying to keep it fresh, but ultimately I got bored.
I feel your pain. When I got Wrath of the Lich King my disc refused to work, so I spent half a day worth of browsing to find a solution, a full day downloading that solution, a couple of hours trying to figure out why I was apparently on a trial account and why I couldn't log in, 20 minutes kicking myself for downloading the fucking American version, and another whole day downloading the European version. There are very few pains as profound as knowing you've wasted that much time on a game.the protaginist said:

The cost was a key factor for me when I quit about a year ago. Also I graduated from college, got a job, and moved halfway around the world, which has left me with less free time than before. Besides I never liked the instances in the game, and since you need to go through them a lot to get any halfway decent equipment I just got fed up with it all.
If I was going to quit, it would be because of dealing with certain people in the game. Unfortunately, it almost seems that WoW is particularly attractive to that type of person. I am going to try and hang in there until Icecrown because I have this feeling that Blizzard might very well close out the WoW storyline with some tremendous bang, but I don't know if I'll make it.
I got to 70, and finally had to face the facts that my comp wasn't good enough to handle any kind of raids, or any main cities, without enormous amounts of lag. I had other complaints, but the tipping point really came when I realized I would have to pay $200+ to get more RAM and a new graphics card.
One extremely boring day, however, I had a 'what the hell' moment and waited the necessary 8 hours to reinstall WoW, BC, and all of the patches, thinking the game might have become a lot more fun after I had left for a year, and maybe I could recapture the love I had for the game. It took all of 3 minutes in Shattrath city to remind me why I had quit. Also, I had never been kicked out of my guild even though I hadn't logged in for a year and a half, haha.

It just got boring doing the same thing over and over and over and over. I can think of much more I could've done with the money I spent on that.
I got bored. It's basically the reason I stop playing most games. Sometimes I stop playing before getting bored because there is a newer, or better offer. I stopped playing battlefield bad company before I reached the "I'm bored with this" stage because a half dozen other games that I wanted to play dropped.
got a lvl 80 resto druid and an arc mage, both fully raid epics...once you don't need anything from the raids to me they were useless so i turned to pvp. Using my raid gear in pvp was extremely fun for about the first half hour, i basically used Arcane Barrage, PoMFrostfire, Arcane barrage Fire Blast Arcane Barrage which would kill people before they got too me...there was no skill needed anymore i just rotated between 4 keys so not requiring me to really think anymore i just got bored and left.
I got bored about 2 weeks into month 2. still had 2 weeks of sub left but i never used it. game just moved waaaaaaaaayy too slow for me. Also, i dont find jogging for half an hour across a virtual landscape to be entertaining.

I never thought the day would come that I would quit. But the game slowly got boring and the guild that I had sticked with for 1½ year and loved was getting corrupted by idiots. I was out to buy WotLK the day it came out, I went straight from school to the local game store where I had reserved it. But that afternoon I was cold, hungry, I needed to poop and I felt generally miserable, and then I saw the endless line of 12 year olds and told myself "No, I'm not going to be one of them, I'm not going to let WoW further ruin my life!". So I spent the money on a meal on Subway instead. Couldn't have spent it in a better way.
I've been on and off with WoW pretty much since 9 months after release. (Bout patch 1.6 when Druids & Locks became semi-decent) 3 months away and then go back for a month.
It's a great time killer and a good way to save money, imo. Play WoW for 2 months = £18. Not playing WoW for 2 months, usually buy 2 or 3 games in that time to occupy myself ~£60-£90. It just gets...boring after a while. =/

Because I got tired of the aching sucking feeling I felt as the game slowly stole my soul.
