As I said on the poll about how much of the escapist community plays WoW, I used to play it, but quit after I saw that I became a prick about bugging my friends to play. So WoW is now out of my life. Take that Blizzard Entertainment!

Initially I was banned, from trying to scam a GM hehe. I later rejoined through peer pressure from college buddies and found the game to be horribly unbalanced in the 1-60 portion of the game, of which I am HIGHLY familiar since I was banned before TBC and had rolled many 60's. Wrath just ruined the economies of the lower level of the game, I couldnt afford anything from the auction houses since everyone already had high level characters and had lost their initial sense of the worth of gold. TBC and Wrath flooded the economy with money and the new players suffered as a consequence.

I realized a few things about WoW, and MMO in general. RPGs are a solo adventure for me. I love to lose myself in a world. That's difficult with "LF2M" and all that stuff.

For social gaming I prefer Mario Kart or Rock Band with actual people, or Counter-Strike/TF2.

Quit a couple of months ago for (a) the money factor, (b) because while I was paying for WoW I felt compelled to play it as much as I possibly could, at the expense of other games and recreational activities,(c) most of the guys I played WoW with had bought Left 4 Dead, and needed a fourth person, and they'd just announced the DLC for it, and (d) winding down before Empire: TW's release.

Got bored. Just about it. I always WANT to level to the cap. Its just, whenever I get half way or so there, I get bored as crap, and just go on the forums til my time runs out.

I realized you are essentially chasing a carrot at the end of a stick attached to your back...except the longer your arm grows the longer the stick gets.

The arm - You leveling as a player.
The stick - The grind.
The carrot - That awesome weapon on youtube you can never get because only .3% of everyone actually achieves getting that weapon.

Guild Politics...pfft. I have better things to do in my life.

I'd probably still be playing it if the monthly fee wasn't so damned much.

Maybe the KOTOR MMO will have better subscription fees. And more fun. Lets hope.

I did quit because it was starting to control my life. I stopped wanting to go out with friends and what not, I realized that was unhealthy.
I hear that

it was fun, but after I swam from halfway up the map all the way to the gold coast (on accident) I realized that it could waste days of my life, and I needed to be with my friends and tossing footballs outside.

I loved WoW. Even though i was nothing but a nooby dwarf with only a rifle and ax to his name.

But my god, It took THREE DAYS for the patches to upload.

I basically quit after that.
Oh Jesus I hated those patches. 2 days for me, then realise its absolute crap after the 10 day free trial

I got bored before even the free trial expired. And I'm not sure why. I mean, sometimes I'll go back and play some Runescape - freaking crappy-ass Runescape!! Yet what is arguably the best MMORPG ever made had no draw for me. To be honest, the thing I liked the most about it was the fact that you could swim. That's pretty much it.

You seriuosly have to watch Yahtzee's review of EVE. Sums it all up neatly - including the players.
I did and, while it was funny, it was all wrong. Yahtzee didn't review EVE, he bashed it. He didn't even understand EVE, he just ranted on about how stupid he was and how much he wanted to dislike it from the start.
