Because it's not actually a bad game, actually.
It's not.

It is, however, a terrible MMO. It's much like Halo. Halo isn't a bad game, but it's a terrible FPS.
Wait, what? Shouldn't it be the other way round- WoW is a terrible game but it's a good MMO? I don't see how something can be a bad game of its primary genre and still be classified as a good game, unless its truly genre defiant (e.g. Donnie Darko is hard to define as any genre but is a good movie. Aside from that though....wtf?)

Just a thought. If you liked WoW, but hated the cost then feel free to try out Rappelz [http://rappelz.gpotato.com/]. Its basically WoW but free and has much better graphics, but still low system requirements. You can buy premium items (with gPotatoes), but only if you want to, and can be bought from other players, or can be earned through the gChips system. If you have an account from another gPotato game, then you don't need to sign up again! I used to play but eventually got bored. They often get players who quit WoW. But it's just a friendly thought, if you're not interested then just ignore. And im NOT advertising or being paid to advertise.

I remember the day I quit World of Warcraft vividly.

My story takes place months before The Burning Crusade came out. I was a lv. 55 Human Paladin specializing in sword-and-board combat. I really liked the increased PVP aspect of the game, but when I found that your rank was DEMOTED if you didn't kill a set number of PC's per week, I was really disheartened.

The next day, I found myself in the middle of the Eastern Plaguelands. I had just walked out of the Tomb of Uther, it was something of a pilgrimage moment for me. I looked around. Elite undead beasties all around, all higher leveled than me. Stratholm menaced in the distance. I looked at my watch- 2:30 AM. I sat back in my chair, staring at the screen.

"I can't do this anymore..." escaped my lips. I turned the game off. I went to bed. I never looked back. I've been MMO-free ever since.

I have conflictions with WoW, Hitting the maximum level is boring... I have quit multiple times but my friends and my cousin always find some way to convince me to come back. My main is currently a level 80 DK and Although Blizz has found a way to make the game slightly less repetitive I still get bored most of the time. If there was an option to choose if you wanted to get saved to a raid, well then lets just say I bet I would think twice before cancelling my subscription...

Well the subscription doesn't matter since it's cheaper than buying new video games (which I do for KH and FF titles, but I'll wait two months for the price to shoot down to $20 for other stuff thanks). I'd probably quit if all my friends did.

The grind just got too annoying and time consuming. When I was really "playing" the game I had a lot of fun, but the "playing" times became few and far in-between, and with other gaming options available with instant satisfaction soon won out. Every once in a while I ponder whether or not to jump back in and be more aggressive to change my experience, but between the monthly fee, my wife's disdain towards me playing games for extended periods, AND possibly a new baby on the way, I think I need to just stick with my console based games.

Made it to lvl 80- Had to grind for decent gear... I did all of that just to say I know the game when people try to argue its worth. I realized I could be spending my time doing better things. Unless you're grinding to level 80 to sell the character for great cash- the game is a waste of time.

WoW is more of a second job than a game. It is so addicting and there is so much to do that it just sucks the life out of you lol. I'm not saying it isn't fun, but i'd rather play and do more in all my other games than wait 10 minutes for my griffon to get me to another town so i can complete a quest

I can't vote in the poll here, because I've never played WoW. Ever.

Sure, I've gotten those CDs with X number of free months trial, but I figure I'd get either a) hooked, and pay $30 a month for grind I could get cheaper, or b) really mad and brick my patheticly slow PC.

I am sure that WoW offers great multiplayer and all that good stuff, but it's a little pricy for me.

Got to 70 with my Gnome Mage, Got an awesome set of gear, I went and destroyed way to many people in the Arena and Raids and the endless battlegrounds. After a while oif that, I just... quit... Got a Girlfriend and enjoyed real life instead.

Ive tried most of the them.

WoW, EVE, Warhammer, AoC, City of Heroes/Villains and it all come down to one thing.
I liked the game but didnt like paying every month to play them.

I could have bought a PS3 with the money i blew on that game.

I had played WoW since 05 and quit a little over a month ago. I was in a hardcore raiding guild, loved it, loved the game, didn't care when they nerf/balanced things about classes and what not. I just finally got tired of it running my life and not myself. When it came down to the, "Should i be on time for raid or should I cook myself dinner" that's when I knew I was done.

Still think it's a great game, time permitting. But it's just not realistic for someone who wants to raid to be able to play while having a life.

For me I got bored with it. I enjoyed playing with others, but it seemed that all BC dungeons dragged on for at least 3 hours. (I quit the August before WotLK). I mean, I enjoyed playing, but it got boring after a while of the same repetitive bull.

Hmm, because I get bored after about an hour of playing it and then the people who rape it until its sore made the whole experience worse.
