I would quit WoW because I'm bored, or because it gets in the way of school.

I've yet to quit permanently, as I just take some months off. I still find it fun, after all.

Though I was sad to do it, I quit for school. It worked as it helped me focus and the get the grades for senior year that helped me get into Tufts University. I may end up going back though. -__-

LOTR is boring compared to WoW :) The graphics aren't as good either.

I still have fond memories of pre-BC WoW, but what really killed the game for me was dailies. They sucked doing them for rep, but once exalted with all the factions, they started to really suck. Pretty much just found myself fishing on all my characters. Boring.

Lord of the Rings is a MUCH better mmo than WoW in my opinion. The lore and universe is miles ahead of WoW, and it makes you feel like an actual part of the world. Also, look at Lotro with all the graphics on high and then look at WoW with the graphics on high. Lotro's graphics are superior by far. But hey, it is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

I quit. It's hard to continue playing an online game with such a nerdy reputation when you happen to have quite a good reputation at school. My grades were also falling and it was hard for me to control my play time. I became a little to over obsessive.

how can you not have "it costs money" as an option on that list? that's why I stopped, Couldn't afford to keep paying monthly.

It got too boring too fast. Besides, I'm, not a fan of playing with other people. Hence why I don't get all moist in the pants when a game has good multiplayer, although it is a plus.

Holy crap. 394 to 36 at best. I'm not a fan of WoW but i'm calling shenanigans on that poll.
Seems all you gotta do is add WoW to the subject title and everyone starts a-clicking ;P

Oh come on... after a week tops you have seen everything such a game has to offer. There were five games which held me longer than a month: Meridian 59 (6 months), Ultima Online (3), Anarchy Online (4), City of Villains (5) and Pirates of the Burning Sea (2).

The ONLY thing holding you in that games are the people.

As a clever man once said "I begrudgingly felt that world of warcraft is about as good as mmo's are ever going to get" and I have to agree. Whilst I haven't played WoW for quite some time, I did recently go back thanks to a friend sending me a free trial for giggles. It was at this point (well approximatley 30mins in) that I remembered the reason I left in the first place. I left because I started playing before any expansion packs existed and my enthusiasm whaned in direct proportion to expansion packs being released, it just became too easy. In being made more accessible for the masses (a sound business strategy, more people = more money afterall) the challenge was slowly bled out of it until its something a five year old can play and do well in (something I've witnessed a scary number of times), this was reinforced by the achievements system, the gentle coo's of "well done" for doing meaningless things.

Yes I did play for a long time and I even tried to justify to myself the choices made by Blizzard, but when I caught myself tripping over achievements and pants on head retarded players every 6 seconds I knew the honeymoon was over for me. So to sum up, WoW was a good game but I left because as challenge drops the number of obnoxious players increases and why would you want to pay money to be insulted?

(Incidentally this is something WoW has in common with Xbox live...)

Oh and incase your all wondering yes I had a scary amount of level 80's and 70's, read into that what you will.
