Current gen tech, and they're asking for £50 for Zombiu and others...

I'm not impressed or convinced. Show me something.
You know , they have people to pay right? They can't just give you games for free . I swear people are so damn cheap.

OT: within the year .once multiple jrpgs come out for it .
Well considering they are asking for £10 more than games for xbox and PS3 and £20 more than games on PC I would say that is a bit much

Oh man, I know that feel, bro.

I can see why you might come to that absurd conclusion, especially since the wii has as much shovel-ware as the iTunes app store, but that's a pretty slippery slope to go down. I can easily use the same logic and say the PS3/Xbox are for super casuals because they aren't PCs! Or, I could go a different route and say they are super casual because of their reliance on war shooters, most of which barely even register as video games at all and seem to be made entierly for the fulfillment of "Army/gun Porn". It's amazing how we can justify our opinions based on whatever absurd logic we can create.

I can't predict the future.

Maybe some absolutely wonderful game will appear exclusively on the WiiU, and I'll be forced to buy one.

But that fucking controller is making me not want to touch it with a ten-foot pole at the moment.

Yeah, so there's a lot of hate for Nintendo, I get it. They are just giving us the same over and over, but at least those titles are often good. Kirby, Mario Zelda and probably some decent RPGs. Nintendo appeals to my taste, but I understand that these titles aren't for everyone. That is why I wont start arguing with those who think the console sucks. It's your opinion against mine and thus we're both right.

I have already pre-ordered my Wii U Zombie U bundle (and received an email that they can't provide that and had to give me a special bundle because it's sold out) and I might enjoy it. While The Wii is clearly the weaker console of this generation (it's really a last gen console) and the Wii U will be the weakest of next generation The Wii gave me some great titles. I loved Xenoblade, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Super Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes and I absolutely love Monster Hunter Tri.

I don't regret getting a 360 and I will probably get a PS3 just for a few chosen titles and my primary platform is PC. However I enjoy the Wii and I am getting a Wii U.

No. I've got a Wii that never gets played and I've got a PS3 to play most of the games that are coming out for it. I might get one once the next Zelda is out and there is some decent 1st and 3rd party games out for it, but nothing I've seen of the WiiU has convinced me that I need one.

If I can get the money together, yes.

I really enjoy my Wii. But then I'm a fan of bog-standard platforming and I like to play Mario Kart when my friends come over and we're all partway drunk already. For everything else, I'm part of the glorious pc master race.

The only games I would play on the other consoles would be fighting games. Stuff like God of War. But since they're not multiplayer, I only really played them when waiting for people over at a friend's place. People playing a shooter with a gamepad must've never used a mouse and keyboard in their life.. I did however get a real kick out of Bayonetta on the PS3. And since the announcement...

Basically, the Wii U looks glorious to me. I just need to wrangle up the cash to buy it.

Will probably get one eventually I like to get all the consoles so I can play any game I like but so far the only game that interests me is Bayonetta 2 so will wait until it sees a price drop.

I dont play much on my Wii but it was definitely worth the purchase for Super Mario Galaxy, The Last Story and especially Xenoblade Chronicles alone.

Nope.

I just don't see that it has anything to recommend it.

If they suddenly come up with five fantastic games that are not available on my current platforms and are so clearly outstanding that I must play them... then I'll think about it.

Well, yes. Mario RPGs and platformer are for one more interesting exclusives for me than XBox and PS3 could ome up with (PS3 has only Lolipop Chainsaw for me and that's it, XBox... nothing). Thanks to backwards compability I could also get some of the interesting Wii games I wanted to play.
You don't really understand what the word exclusive means, do you?

Lollipop Chainsaw is not a exclusive, as it was released on Xbox as well as PS3.

OT: Nope. Maybe when some better games come out and the price drops, but nothing interests me now.

Well, apparently Monolith Soft is working on a new game for the Wii U, so that caught my interest. However, if I end up actually buying the console (and that's a big IF), it'll will definitely not be at launch. Maybe after a price drop or two.

The only problem with buying consoles a few years after their launch is that you can only get crap bundled collection. I mean, really, when I bought my Wii, I couldn't find any package that didn't have Wii Sports in it, what the hell?! In the end I settled for the red version that came with the original Donkey Kong and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

That's right, the best version possible was one with a game released back in 1981 and a shameless Super Mario Bros. 3 meets Super Mario World re-hash that shows only a sliver of progress when you get to the co-op. But you only have one controller and every additional controller costs ? 45! And then you don't even have a fucking nunchuck!! And that still doesn't take away the fact that the best damn games on the damn console are the ones that don't need that damn motion controlling crap!!!

*huff huff*

Ahem, anyhow, chalk that up as a "maybe in the long run".

I have a strong feeling Wii U will be the first next-gen console to run into hardware limitations, before too long developers will once again start having to severely cut-down visuals to get games chugging on it.

Then again, I guess none of that stuff really matters because ultimately it will boil down to Nintendo's endlessly-repeating franchises being the primary reason people still buy their gimmicky consoles. Nintendo should just print "you must purchase this arbitrary box before you can play our dead-horse exclusives" on the Wii U, to which the fans can only respond "yes please Nintendo, we will totally sink hundreds of dollars for a box that allows us to play more Mario/Zelda games! We look forward to the suspense of whether Link unlocks the boomerang or grappling hook first this time!"

And of course Nintendo will be forcing their gimmicky controls into games where they don't belong, just so 3rd party developers can release on their platform.

So no, absolutely no interest.

However I'm VERY interested in the next Playstation/XBox, we are bound to see some great future-proof hardware going in and I know they will keep games faithful to their respective controllers (with Kinect/Move still being available for children/grandparents and stupids, obviously).

What hardcore games are on the PS3?

I mean, not that the Wii U has much... there's Monster Hunter Ultimate and that's going to be pretty good. But the PS3 really just has Dark/Demon's Souls for the hardcore among us. Even then... none of those are really ALL THAT hard. They're just harder than the modern softy gamers are used to. True hardcore gamers should feel right at home playing those.

Honestly, the Wii has more hardcore games that I can think of right now. Any game "can" be hardcore if you bump up the difficulty but a true hardcore game is one that's tough on the player and never apologizes for it.

Wha? I don't understand where your reply comes from at all.

New PC game - £25-30
New Console game(this gen) - £35-40(unless it's CoD)

Where does the premium come from? Feels like gouging to me...

"Pony up the asking price, guys. Or you're cheap!" Well, we can't all be the industries dream customer, I suppose...

No.

Reason number 1: This is the most petty, but the name. Trying to seriously discuss the Wii-U with a straight face is impossible.
2: The Controller is essentially half a DS. I already have a DS. I have no need for this. Also, most of the software seems to be based around the Wiimote anyway to accommodate Multiplayer.
3: There are 3 games I am actually interested in: Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3 and Zombi-U. None of these games are that interesting I'll by a console exclusively for it, though.
4: After owning a Wii for the last generation, I don't feel like going through that with Nintendo again. The Multiplayer being poor, the third-party support being underwhelming and the gimmicky motion controls tacked onto games where they are irrelevant.

No..I didn't buy a Wii either, it just doesn't interest me. I don't mind the controller, it just bugs me a bit that they've added in things to games like Rayman Legends that have to use the controller.

I do hope that these tablet controllers aren't implemented too much in other consoles. I know Xbox recently got that Microsoft Glass or whatever, but I hope it doesn't get any further than that, like motion controls did.
