No, maybe in a few years when it's cheaper depending on what gets released.

To be honest I'm quite surprised about the general lack of enthusiasm for it here.

Half of me wants one because it looks neat. And because I rather enjoy Nintendo consoles. However, the other half is still trying to recover from the disaster that was my Wii console.

*sigh* No, no I am not. I was one of the first in line for the Wii because it was doing something that seemed interesting at the time and had some great looking 1st party titles coming out. The Wii U is a PS3.5. Even the games are just ports and re-releases of stuff we already played throughout the last year, and the only substantial first party titles being showcased are Pikimin 3 and New Super Mario Bros U, neither of which I'm very big on.

So not only are there no great-looking exclusives coming out(save for maybe Bayonetta 2), Nintendo has once again dug themselves in a hole with the hardware. Yeah sure, go ahead and clamor about how third parties might finally care about a Nintendo console, but if Sony and Microsoft show their next systems as having substantially better hardware, the third parties will jump ship and the Wii U will be back on the exact same level as its predecessor.

Look, show me a really good looking new Zelda, show me a new Metroid, give me a reason why Smash Bros. Wii U will be better then its 3DS companion, and I'll get one. But right now, I'm perfectly content with what I already have.

Everyone? Really? I don't see any XBox 360 or PS3 model with 4gb ram anywhere... Or any other hardware capabilities. Oh, and don't get me started on the capabilities of running games at 1080p.
wiiu has 1 gb for games, 1 gb for OS = 2gb total ram, not 4. & because Nintendo refuses to let people know what they are buying, we dont even know if it is ddr3. & the fact that it cannot even run a 2D platformer at 1080p (new super mario u) speaks volumes about how underwhelming the hardware is.

Oh god no. Projections of next gen sony and microsoft estimate that they will be 6 times more powerful than the Wii U. I am quite familiar with console development, so I can tell you that more power does NOT just mean better graphics. A well known of example of a game that got ruined because of insufficient processing power (among other things) is Invisible War. Because it was put on consoles, the levels had to be drastically reduced in size, which greatly detracted from the entire game.

The power difference will really start to show in about a year or so when the next sony and microsoft consoles come out. You know how nintendo is trying to give people the impression that they will have ports from the other consoles with all these games being re-released on the Wii U? Well, the Wii had a similar strategy on it's release, but remember what happened when they tried making a game simultaneously for the Wii and the other consoles? The Force Unleashed on the Wii happened. Most developers just don't make games for the Wii anymore, or if they do they have to purpose build them.

The difference between the Wii U and the next-gen consoles from the other major companies will be even larger, and so I wouldn't expect many 3 console simultaneous releases.

Oh, and the controller is bloody stupid.

I'll probably get one eventually, but not at launch. Combination of no monies and no interesting launch titles. I might pick one up around mid-2013, or if a must-have game appears before then (e.g. a new F-Zero, Metroid or Starfox title).

I've been very happy with my Wii, mostly because of how ridiculously easy it is to crack. It's given me many great games to play when I was too poor to buy them. If the Wii U can be broken just as easily (i.e. without having to open the case and solder in chips) I'll almost certainly buy one.

I definitely will, but not right away.

It's not because I don't think the launch games look interesting; I do. It's mostly because it's coming out near finals time and I don't need any new distractions. Plus while I'm not low on money I don't really feel like making a big purchase right now.

But I definitely do want to get it sometime down the line, because it does look really interesting to me. Just not right now. I might possibly get it for Christmas if I can convince someone to buy it for me, not very likely though.

No. I think the controller thing will be a useless gimmick like pretty much anything else they produce, if not hindering gameplay, and I'm not interested in the games I know of at all. Even if there's a Monster Hunter I'm sort of boycotting it on Nintendo platforms. But, if almost all the shittier rumours of advertisements while playing, download-only games, universal online passes are true of both next gen consoles, I will not buy a PS4 and switch to PC. I have no interest in the Wii U.

Captcha: i'm sorry dave. Well I'm afraid Captcha that I'm not Dave and I don't know any Daves either, so you've got the wrong guy. If you're Dave and you're reading this, Captcha seems sincere.

Hopefully as soon as possible. At least in the last few generations the games on Nintendo's consoles have a unique feel that really comforts me. Also Zelda is supah cool.

I don't find that as a great example since I legitimately thought that was the best version of the game, but that's off topic XD But yes, the point still stands. I have not forgotten the horrors of Spider-Man 3 and Dead Rising, and I'm afraid the Wii U is setting itself up for the exact same type of crap.

Of course I'll buy it. How else will I play Pikmin 3? Not on day one though, I'm not stupid. I'll wait till it either drops somewhat in price or has too many good games for me to resist any longer.

So far i'm only interested in Bayonetta 2 and Pikmin 3, and even then I'll be playing them with the classic controller (or whatever they call it) as motion controls are crap and the tablet is lame.

That's just Nintendo, who have gone on the record to say that 720p is all they need for their games.

Other games will indeed run games at 1080p, From Upconverting [http://gotgame.com/2012/10/12/activision-says-wii-u-version-of-black-ops-2-not-natively-1080p/] to being Native 1080p [http://www.siliconera.com/2012/10/02/monster-hunter-3-ultimate-for-wii-u-is-in-1080p-with-linear-pcm-5-1-surround-sound/].

I have made plans.

We will camp outside the enemies fortress. Slipping onto their doorstep under cover of darkness.
There we will spend a night of planning, but I shall not sleep. For I must stand at attention, seeking the horizon for dawns first shimmering rays.
By this time, many others will have gathered, seeking to snatch my prize from beneath my clutching grasp, but hey do not know the determination they face. I will strike just as soon as the gate is unlocked by the unwary guard. Few know the passages as I do, and I will be in the treasure chamber before many have had a chance to don they're hats.
There I will claim my prize. White or Black I cannot now say, but I can say that none shall keep me from my goal.

My answer is B 1/2: I'm going to get mine but the games coming out on launch day are likely going to be good enough for me for the time being (especially since I'll be playing Arkham City and, Mass Effect 3 for the first time on the Wii-U: I am the 1%)

I don't plan on getting a Wii-U but on the off chance I get one then great! Since I'm more than likely not getting my black premium on that day, I'm more than likely going to have to either restrain myself for another month waiting for my early February birthday or just say 'fuck it' and buy one then if there's a price drop either with the hardware or, software (I don't see why B:AC or ME3 would be $60 for very long after all).

I'm very, VERY excited though and can't wait to get my hands on the Wii-U. Hopefully it won't go the way of Sega though, who released their Dreamcast too early and ended up becoming a software developer soon after. I don't see this happening to Nintendo but it could happen if the thing just doesn't sell.
