I really enjoyed the last two Mass effect games but I wonder if Mass Effect 3 will be as good. Sure, they may follow the same basic format, but I can't help feeling the game could be ruined if they change too much like reintroducing vehicle systems in a crap way.

Thoughts?

Personally looking forward to the co-op, I don't know if the game will live up to expectations. But there's always hope right? Lol.

Yes.

If the story is solid, the gameplay great, the RPG elements engaging and the space suits tight, it will be a great game.

It's snug in all the right places...

I'm going to try to avoid the hype. That last two games I got hyped for were Fable 3 and Dragon Age 2.

Yeah.

I hope, but I'm skeptical

ME2 did, so i'm hoping ME3 will as well.
That's the problem, the bar is very high.
It was pretty bloody high (imo) after the first one as well.

Even with some of the screw ups over the years, i've still got full faith in Bioware to deliver an epic game.

I certainly know it will live up to my expectations, and most likely surpass them.

It's the latter of course. It's generated shitloads of hype and a lot of people are bracing for it being the game of the year even though it's development time would be considered short for a top of the line FPS, let alone an attempt at the action RPG genre. Mass Effect holds up on the amusing conversations and the giddy high of watching enemies incinerate, outside of that it really hasn't been anything special.

With this game, the bar is set so ludicrously high Bioware will need a spaceship to get there. Honestly, I think ME3 will be really good, but I doubt it will live up to expectations, unless it comes with free tickets to the ISS, a cure for all the world's diseases and cake.

What kind of question is that? We all have our hopes for the game, but we won't know if it lives up to expectation until it comes out.

I think it's looking like it certainly can. The gameplay looks to be striking a good balance between the action of 2 and the RPG elements that 1 had (but largely failed at), the co-op looks to be a far better idea than I originally thought, and this being the end of the trilogy allows them to really pull out all the stops when it comes to the story. I think it'll be great, but that is my expectation; asking whether the game will live up to it is useless until it can actually be played.

It depends on expectations but since it is Bioware we are talkig about it will be up to the most general comon expectations(and they hawe learned their leson after DA2)

but there are expectations that it is unlikly to live up for example one of my expectations that absolutly wont come true is that all tat love interest buisenes would end witf a wedding (and quoting the author of this tred "There is not a snowball's chance in hades of it" happenig)

Mass Effect 2 was a massive dissapointment for me. But everyone else seems so easily impressed, that they will enjoy whatever crap ends up being released. So yeah, it will probably suck and manage to live up to the hype at the same time.

Could it live up to it's hype? Sure, why not. Is it likely though? That I am unsure of. Mass Effect 2 is one of the best games on the 360 ATM. Following up what is widely considered a modern-day classic will be hard. I know I am looking forward to it, will probably pick up at launch, and enjoy it. Whether or not I will enjoy it more than 2 remains to be seen.

The answer to this depends entirely on whether or not you've let hype boost your expectations unreasonably.

It'll probably be better in some areas, worse in others, like pretty much every sequel.
