After stumbling over my Advent Rising OST today and realizing that I still couldn't play the game it belonged to on my 360 I decided to make this thread.
It's now two years after the last addition to the Backward Compatibility list here [http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm] and it doesn't look like there won't be anything changed to it soon.

When do you think they'll start working on it again?
and what games (if any) can you no longer play due to this?

(search bar used to find similar threads, found none)

I really want them to, i dont plan on buying any old Xbox games right now, but it would sure be nice to be able to go to any store and find a cheap arse $10 Xbox game that i can instantly put in and play....

*sigh*

Damn Microsoft

Sony is bringing backwards compatibility back with some kind of new update coming soon I've heard. I know nothing of Microsoft though. I don't think they will ever fix it.

I don't really care though, Altough its BS ofc that they dont make it fully compatible

My PS3 has backward compatibility. It's limited edition though so... I'm indifferent.

They said they would update regularly, but their last update was 2007! And the games that are compatible have more bugs than a hooker the day the troops come home.

Why would a hooker have bugs? It doesn't make any sense...

No, and neither will Sony.

Microsoft would rather sell the games as Games on Demand, and Sony, as we've seen a recent story, is incredibly lazy.

So, if you have an urge to play old games, go shell out the £25 that most of the old consoles cost.

Of course it differs from person to person, but that list only holds 2/3s of my old XBox games. That might seem like a lot, since it's most of it after all, but there were some really awesome ones in that last 1/3...

That's also a problem I've come across, several of the games just seem to freeze for no apparent reason other than the fact that you're playing it on a 360 instead of a regular XBox.

I think they've yet to offer any original XBox games on the Marketplace that weren't also BC, though it honestly wouldn't surprise me much if they did. (Even though the processes seem identical to me).

No.

Will fixing backwards compatibility earn them copious amounts of money?

No.

So don't get your hopes up.
Unfortunately, what he said. They've continuously refused to provide backwards compatability for DOS, 95, 98, CE, ME, NT, 2K, XP, Vista: so the chance of anything that you don't have to pay a whole load for is next to nothing.

i'd refer you to Yahtzee's comment about how realism doesn't necessarily mean cynacism. unfortunatly it looks like microsoft are quietly hoping people will forget about it. its clearly not a big money spinner.

I seriously doubt that, considering it is believed that a recent meeting said they were going to be releasing PS2 titles on PSN.

And what does that have to do with 360 BC?

Damn you, not even released on my continent.
Oh well, at least I got mine before they started cutting more stuff out.

I highly doubt they will. Most of the exclusives are up on the list, so if you don't have a PS2 or Gamecube, you can buy one of those.

No, because they couldn't give enough of a fuck about something which isn't really going to lose them any money. Simple and true.

I'm pretty happy with the list as is. There's only a few games I can't play, and those were ones I never really liked anyway.

Since I presume I'm in the majority, I don't think they'll fix the list any further.
