Microsoft = Money
If its not profitable, they wont bother, look at the original X-Box. Had to buy a freaking clip thing to watch DVDs, (And a Un-Chipped Wii is no better)

Sony is bringing backwards compatibility back with some kind of new update coming soon I've heard.
I don't know where you heard that, but it's simply not true. A while ago Sony officially said that they have no intentions of bringing backwards compatibility to the PS3. Just google it.

No, i think i heard that they actually intend to stop selling old Xbox tittles and instead focus on selling Xbox 360 games instead. I could be wrong here though, but i doubt it.
Sadface :(

Will microsoft do anything that won't earn them copious amounts of money?

No.

Will fixing backwards compatibility earn them copious amounts of money?

No.

So don't get your hopes up.
Unfortunately, what he said. They've continuously refused to provide backwards compatability for DOS, 95, 98, CE, ME, NT, 2K, XP, Vista: so the chance of anything that you don't have to pay a whole load for is next to nothing.
Are you referring to older games because I'm playing win95 games on vista no problem/modifications

I seriously doubt that, considering it is believed that a recent meeting said they were going to be releasing PS2 titles on PSN.

My PS3 has backward compatibility. It's limited edition though so... I'm indifferent.
And what does that have to do with 360 BC?
Explains my indifference and I like to brag.

Which ones? Most of the Microprose/VGA ones collapse almost instantly when you have to search for soundcards?

Actually they said it clearly.
At the beginning they worked on the backward compatibility, then they worked to port single games on demand that could be bought and downloaded on line.
Then they abandoned this too, saying that they will focus only on 360 game on line (I really can't figure out what's difficult in making that), so you cannot even buy other old xbox games on-line besides the ones that are already available.

So no. They surely will not.

Some games get lucky and still work, others don't, but the point is that there's no guarantee your game will work and nobody in the industry cares.

Just try the build engine games (Duke Nukem or Blood) on your Vista or XP machine. You need Dosbox as well as some other programs to get something working. And then you're still stuck with crappy sound. You cen forget about the mapeditor coming to life as well.

Oh, I'm late I see...

This is a very old subject, one abandoned by most 360 users when they realized original X-Box's were under $50 at their local used game store. I for one couldn't care less because the only game I bought for original X-Box was remade/upgraded for the 360 and I got it very inexpensive.

Nope. I just remember reading something about how they would fix an update so that the PS3 could read PS2 CD's in some strange elaborate science way! I know nothing else

Why should they? They don't make money on old XBOX disks anymore.

However, there is a place where you can download them to your 360 called XBox Originals.

Micr$s$ft probably won't bring it back.

I'm just glad I kept hold of my old juggernaut over the years. (Even if the DVD drive plays up on me and won't open properly... :/)

Who are these people who have time to go back and play old games? I can't keep up with the new ones they put out!

It's been said well: They won't, because it's not a profitable move. Now, releasing them on the Marketplace? That'll generate a little profit, so they're doing that. Don't blame a company for choosing to make money over losing it, that's the whole point of doing business.

I highly doubt it.

Since they have xbox origionals, they pretty much stopped, and they even stopped adding xbox origionals to download.

Hell, I really, really wish they would start making more games Backwards compatable.

Mainly Timesplitters Future Perfect, Beyond Good and Evil, Oddworld Stranger's Wrath, and Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes. And I don't think Spartan: Total Warrior is backwards compatable either, if it isn't, then that game to.

My favorite Xbox games or all time and none of them work. Hell they can get Barbie's Horse adventure to work but when it comes to an actual loved game, forget about it.

Of course they won't fix this issue. they have left the past behind and embraced the future, which makes me sad, because I miss Timesplitters and Jedi Outcast so much!
