Anyone who answered yes/no based on an E3 video is just being silly. There's no way to tell for now.

I don't think the demo was that great. The presentation was amazing, the voice acting, the random bits of useless information added to the scene (in game though we aren't going to give a shit if some random passerby has type O blood and a bad credit score.....are we? are we really?) in a very nice way, the graphics were nice.......but.

Shooting. The second he stuck to cover all the tension just died from the moment. It was just another boring third person shooter at that point, and it was depressing to see such a great build up fail so horribly. I feel like this is going to be most of the game too, as much as we would hate to admit. The car being stopped at the exact intersection he was at? How scripted was that? What if the car got away? Would you get a "game over" screen? Would they make an entirely new story arc for that ONE scene choice?

I hate trailers like this because you never know what the devs want to hide. I have a gut feeling its going to be grand theft auto with a few hacking tools.

Also, they did a terrible job on the protagonist. You kill a bunch of people in an intersection just to kill some random Steve Jobs wannabe who was apparently involved in some crime thing? Was that really necessary? The motivation goes completely out the window when you casually slaughter helpless civilians. I dunno, I just got mad when he pried the husband away from his dead wife WHO HE JUST FUCKING KILLED IN COLD BLOOD FOR NO REASON and tried to tell him to get away to safety. Oh so you care about the husbands life, but felt it was entirely necessary to kill his wife and injury/kill a few more? I can sense great disappointment in this game.
Also the car was looking for him, so I think that even if he hadn't stopped it it might have just stopped at the nightclub and made the fight occur not at the intersection.

So its just a preference of where you would like to have a generic shoot out? :/

Can't say I'm thrilled.....

I was just pointing out that it doesn't require a whole new story arc. I personally am excited for the game as it is one of the few new IPs, and looks half decent. I'll wait and see where it goes before I pass full judgement on it though. That said, I'm not particularly picky about my games. I'll play just about anything that will keep me entertained for the duration. I'm even excited for ZombieU! To each his own, I guess.

I just watched the trailer today.
It seems too ambitious to be able to live up to its own promises. We see this problem all the time these days, L.A. Noire, Dead Island, I Am Alive, Silent Hill Downpour, Milo, Kinect in general all had very cool exciting trailers but for the most part, failed to live up to them. Of course there are exceptions, but I usually keep my eye on the more humble trailers that know exactly what they have, show it in motion, and have realistic expectations.

It seems so negative to discourage innovation this way, but I've seen way too many games fail due to the large scale on which they want to innovate.

But then again I'm just naturally against hype, I find it just easier to wait till the game comes out to decide whether or not to like it. So this is just a prediction I guess.

Also, a bit unrelated, but I find it a bit lame that the main character uses a smartphone for all his tech tricks. I mean I know it's supposed to be the near future, and would make sense for a smartphone to be used, but it seems a little boring that this one device does all of your technology related infiltrating and hacking at the click of a button. I mean in Deus Ex you have all kinds of cool augmentations, in Batman, you have a belt full of interesting gadgets, and this guy, has a smartphone. Eh.

I actually didn't mind the cover-shooting. Why? Because it made sense and was realistic. Sure shooting is rather unnecessary in a game like this, running away is probably more fun and provide more thrills and as the people above me said it could provide different storylines or at least different playthroughs, but since it's here to stay, the dev made the right choice.

If it has enough variety in missions and environments, I think it will work well.

Looks grate from the E3 demo, weather or not the actual game is any good well then i guess i'll just have to wait and see for my self when it comes out. All in all though i'm cautiously optimistic about this one, it could be amazing if done properly.

Calling it now: the game we saw will neither look nor play anything like that.

I was very disappointed at first when he pulled out the gun. But I guess you really can't solve any big problems without one nowadays. I loved the little bio it had for everyone you looked at, I could walk around the game for hours just thinking "bankrupt? wow no kidding."

The last demo I saw that had me this excited for a game was Final Fantasy 7. Watch Dogs looks bloody amazing!

That being said it was just a very pin pointed demo. There is a lot we aren't seeing. I think we will have to wait and see as it's too early to call it one way or another right now. It certainly has all the potential in the world to be gaming's next big thing. All we can do right now is hope for the best.

We will wait and see, they do have great ideas in there but from what I've seen of it sofar it actually looks incredibly simplistic, I fear that all the cool shit they do will be neither skillful nor thoughtful in gameplay but rather a big set of neon outlines and corresponding I win buttons.

Also the protagonist seems to be just some nerd from the dev team, bland and boring as balls.

I've seen the 10 minute gameplay trailer and I am simply blown away. This is the future of videogames right here and I am optimistic that this will be a great game.

On current gen consoles? No way.

Next gen? Sure.
I think all the consoles could handle it. (PS3 could handle it the best, as for most modern gaming PCs.)

All in all, if it has a strictly 1 player mode, yes. It could work really well. Also, if the storyline lasts a while.

I have no idea. I really hope so, but not even because I was intreaged by this concept in particular. I want it to succeed for the same reason I want Dishonored to succeed. I want developers to see what we want is not serialization, but good ideas, new ideas, that are well excecuted. I'm really hoping that publishers took note of the fact that some of the games both gamers and gaming news outlets were most exited about were NEW. Not the same game as last year with slightly different color of paint but FUCKING NEW. I don't mind a game being a series. Some games have stories that need multiple games to be told, but for the love of god, it should be pretty obvious which franchises just need to fucking die. They are holding back the rest of the god damn industry.

*pant pant*

Ok... sorry, little more ranting than I expected to do when starting this post...

Possibly. Thing is, until it comes out and people start playing it, we have no way of knowing whether the entire world is fully interactable, or whether it's only certain parts with certain things, which of course, would be what the developers will show. Perhaps when people get hands on previews, we may be able to predict a little more, for example, people will find out if the way they can complete missions is limited in any way, but they may not be able to find out whether the entire world is interactable like that, all the time. Bottom line; we'll just have to wait and see.

anc[is]Concept: awesome. Gameplay: looks boring as fuck. At least half of that trailer was just walking, and probably random factoids popping up when you hover over random npcs. It kind of reminded me of Assassins Creed actually, where that slow walking around looks kinda cool, but that's not how its going to actually go down.
I actually like the look of the slower gameplay sections. It contrasts so brilliantly with the huge explosions that it gives them more impact.

That car crash wouldn't have been as impressive if you'd driven a tank through 15 buildings to get there and then called down a cruise missile on the spot.

I must confess though, I'm a big Hitman fan, and those games were all about patience, observation and planning, and this kinda reminded me a bit of that.

-EDIT- I voted yes, because I'm stupidly optimistic about this game :D

Given that consoles are using 7 year old tec? no way. Seems like it would only work well on PC at this point.

Graphics look over the top, i suspect that will detract from the freedom of exploration and cause major lag on anything but high end systems.

Also it seems to have an over the shoulder view. I cannot stand this so I will not be playing unless I can centralise the camera.
