We use the resources for the good of a certain few on the planet?

Erm, we use the resources to make money from others. That's it.

I don't see it ..
Their are a number of things that stand in humanities way
Religion, greed, fascism, etc
And it depends on how big the disaster is, and whether itd change peoples beliefs to be more peaceful and down to earth, share resources, grow, evolve
or to be more "the good(?) lord has shown us he does not want us here, i must take my own life and others" or some other such shit.

I'd want world peace but theres quite alot of people that don't.
Who knows though, have hope, hope in reality.

Interesting question this, will we ever get rid of the countries we know and use the planets resources for the good of all the people on the planet and not for just a fortunate few who live in a certain part of the planet.
We will never be a one planet as you describe it but I believe that one day we will be a peaceful united planet.

Let's go with "no". The UN, with all of its wonderful, horrible flaws, is about as close as we're likely ever to get.

That sounds like a half baked, poorly explained internationalist philosophy. I actually support internationalism but I know that man kind is too selfish to ever achieve anything like that; at least not for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years of evolution and war. The only way something like that could ever work is with the complete breakdown of all society and putting everyone on the planet back to stage one. Even then, it would take complete unity on the matter and require extensive guidance towards the final goal.

I suppose if we were seeded here, we were probably designed to work together. But xenophobia is a *****, and the 'my country and its shit stinks better than yours' nationalism is always going to exist.

My suggestion; we need a great social schism, a big war, and then once its finished, set the foundations for being a social community instead.

Or, you know, meteor, nuclear war, total annihilation of the human race. That works for me too.

If it does, it'll be fulfilling a pretty big part of Revelation, the last book in the Bible. So I'll be very interested to see how that goes, because outside of that prophecy, I don't see it happening any time soon.

Not anytime soon at least, but I would hope that someday we can all get along and are united... under my rule!

Possibly but not unless something terrible happens that forces everyone to play nice and get along...

But then it may just be everyone else against for example north korea and then we all fall out again after.

We're barely united within a town. Scratch that, we just had our municipal election.

Even a liberal democracy does not have the will of all its constituents. Just the biggest mob that decides to actually vote. If we ever get a significant world government, that alone isn't going to make everything better. Just because resources lie in the United States doesn't mean they're going to be spent on the welfare of each and every one of its states, towns, or citizens.

To quote from one of the clips from TF2:

"Long as there are 2 people left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead".

I think humanity will destroy eachother before being capable of living in peace.
I'd like to see the whole peace, unity, welfare-thing, but I strongly believe it'll never happen

A common threat would be needed to unify humanity, stereotypically some sort of alien encounter/ attack. Even then the various factions would remain, and once the threat is reduced everybody would go about their old ways.

Overall my answer is "Only after a disaster", but after time passes we'd just go back to being seperated.

No. Human beings are greedy, worthless, selfish dicks who would rather die before they share anything with the planet as a whole...me included.
(avoiding the wrath of Yhatzee who said everyone is shit and if you are the kind of guy who sits there and says "yes, everyone is shit but me" then they are a double shit-face with fries)
