I really liked the Beta, had a great time wrecking teams as the monster, so I'm probably going to pick it up.

There's only 3 monsters and 4 hunters in the base game, I don't care how much work went into balancing and testing them, that's not nearly enough for a $60 game.
There are actually 12 hunters, 3 for each class. I agree about the monsters though, I think they could have had more.
My mistake, when I checked their website it looked like there was only 4 hunters, but I had to click on each class to see the others.

I know that there were only 4 hunters in the open beta, do we know if the other hunters in each class all play differently or are they basically just class based skins?
Actually, there were 8 hunters and 2 monsters in the beta. You just had to unlock them. They definitely played differently.

OP: PLayed in the open beta, enjoyed it, don't think it's worth paying ?60 for straight away. I'll definitely get it when it's on sale

From what I played of the beta I liked it. Theres a lot of fun to be had there. However the overabundance of DLC has completely turned me off from it. Ill wait a year for a game of the year edition to be released before I pick it up. However I might not because theres a good chance that by the time the GOTY edition comes out the multiplayer will pretty much be dead and that will ensure I never buy the game. Theres probably going to be other games I want to play by that point too

Its pretty much a loose loose situation for turtlerock with players like me.

Their practices put me off. Maybe I'll get the complete addition but that's only if the game is REALLY good.

To be honest though, I don't think I would have gotten it at full price even if they hadn't announced all of this DLC stuff. It just doesn't look there's enough content to warrant 60 dollars.

Couldn't give a shit about how brilliant the game is, I'm not paying full price for something that only wants to nickel and dime you straight away. I ended my loyalty to the Gran Turismo franchise for the same reason. Evolve will do really well anyway I'm sure, but not with my contribution. Not even on 80% steam sale, no this shit can go jump off a bridge.

Just hoping other companies don't try to follow this model, pretty please

I won't be buying it, but it has nothing to do with DLC (DLC actually slightly increases my odds of buying games) and everything to do with Evolve looking like something that will get old very quick (and I apparently bore slow by gamer standards, god only knows how many hours I put in Titanfall and I don't regret a second of it) and worse looks totally impossible to balance.

I never had any real interest in it, I'm not a fan of online games in general (mind you, there are exceptions to that rule, TF2 is the obvious one) and the whole thing just didn't look like it was for me.
However the DLC business is absolute anti-consumer bullshit, if I were thinking about getting it then I wouldn't be now.
I have never purchased piecemeal DLC for any game in my entire life, and I plan to keep it that way. Game of the Year Editions generally make the whole DLC thing irrelevant anyway, as I almost never buy games at launch unless they're something I really, really need (the last game I bought day one was Portal 2 back in 2011, although Bloodborne may dethrone it in a couple months), and I'd like to get my games y'know... finished.

That's the biggest problem I have with DLC as a concept, it incentivises developers to hold back on some of their better ideas for DLC packs down the line, instead of just adding them to the original game, and as a result we get games that are, for all intents and purposes, incomplete.
It's the kind of thing that you just wouldn't see in any other form of art, would you expect to buy "bonus DLC chapters" for a book? Would you expect to watch a movie, only to have a part of the story cut out until you bought some "DLC scenes?"
Games shouldn't be made as "service platforms" they should be made as cohesive artistic wholes, and the fact that they're not anymore really worries the hell out of me in regards to the medium's future.

Ever since I saw somewhere that like it was from the guys who made Left4Dead, I laughed and said, 'welp killed my interest'.

Oh, that and multiplayer focused.

They definitely play differently. I mostly tried the Medics in Closed Beta and all three of them filled a niche. Val is the continuous heal along with debuff support against the monster (crit spots and slowing it), Lazarus works on reviving without penalty and being out of harms way (due to his stealth field and silenced rifle) while Caira provides burst heals, DoT damage and party utility through her party speed buff. They all have different play styles and go well with different parties, Lazarus is an excellent choice in a team where the Assault uses abilities that does damage to the assault too while Caira is great with a Trapper that can detect the monsters movement (like Abe or Cabot) as she can quickly get the party to the monster.

Right now I am actually kind of psyched to get into the release to see what kind of party dynamics will evolve (hehe pun) with all the different hunters and how different parties fare against different monsters.

I honestly wasn't too interested in it to begin with, but with that DLC, no fucking way in hell am I buying it.

I'll see what happens, but it gives me bad vibes.

Nope, business practices on this one don't free right. Every time they open their mouths with more details they reveal yet more info on how they are basically screwing over their customers.

The whole thing has left a sour taste. I only enjoy buying games when I don't have to think about all this other shit and how it could expand.

Edit: Why did you put stupid options on your poll? Can't take it seriously.

I accidentally alt+tabbed into this thread from Darkest Dungeon...

I'll probably get the game if the reviews are positive and it's on sale with all its DLC.

There isn't a rash or any bumps but it still kinda hurts...it's like a weird pressure-pain more than anything. I've peed after eating spicy food and this pain is different than that pain and I don't know what the cause could possibly be considering I'm an ace...

I haven't been following Evolve very closely but from what I've been able to gather, I have to pre-order Evolve from several different retailers (pre-ordering the most expensive edition, naturally) if I want access to all of the monsters who are almost 100% likely to be locked on the game-disc. This isn't even counting the DLC that will inevitably launch once the game itself has been unleashed. If this wasn't a multiplayer shooter, I would probably care more but even if there wasn't a DLC controversy, this isn't a game I would be picking up anyway. Even if I had the PS4 or Xbone (shit, I'd have to buy an Xbone for that exclusive content) to play it on, I don't have a good enough internet connection to actually play it the way it's meant to be played.

Co-op shooters really aren't my thing to begin with. I never cared for Left 4 Dead and I get enough of dealing with incompetent teammates while playing League of Legends.

Now, if it was a good game (initial reviews are saying that it is), I would consider buying it, but I really, really don't like the way they're handling pre-order bonuses and DLC.

So, I'm going to let them know that I don't like these practices. Therefore, should I decide to buy it, I'll just wait for the inevitable GotY edition.

But whether or not I'll actually get it is a toss-up.

Play the beta, had a blast, but I'm not buying it until it goes on sale on a third party website.

Firstly, as has already been mentioned, the publisher is a massive cuntbag about the DLC distribution and pricing.

Secondly, I don't think it's quite worth $60 for the base release from what I've seen of the beta, although maybe it is with the other gamemodes/maps added (I'll be searching for gameplay vids after it's release).

Third, they've done the ol' "Fuck Australia Tax" and jumped the price by at least a third. So I'll by buying it through somewhere else with a deep discount or the 2spooky4me grey market. Same with the DLC packs.

It's a good game, and I think TurtleRock seem like a great dev studio, it's just a shame their publisher is an arsehole

I was never interested in another game similar to Left 4 Dead (without the zombies), because I don't usually play that many multiplayer games and I really don't have one friend that I can call upon to play together with..not to mention 3 more ontop of that.

And yes..I'm playing Darkest Dungeon and couldn't care less about Evolve.
