Absolutely cool with paying for it, the value seems worthwhile and they let me have Netflix even if I don't pay. HEAR THAT, MICROSOFT? I DON'T HAVE TO PAY AN EXTRA TEN BUCK FOR NETFLIX!

Not EVERYTHING is locked off by ps plus, still lots you can do with just the free service. Unlike microsoft who lock off stuff that you can use for free or already paying for on pc and ps3/4. Only big change is the multiplayer but personaly i dont give a shit about multiplayer like cod etc and most if not all the f2p games that ps4s gonna have dont need the plus service to play online. Plus is cheaper per month too so its not a huge deal. I dont have plus atm on ps3 but im acually considering getting it once ps4 comes out. I refuse to pay for gold, i feel like its a ripoff. I bet micros gonna pull some shit and make it so you gotta pay for gold on 360 and the xbone separately just to use gold on 360 still and the xbone on its own.

Payed for gold for years. I'm just glad I don't need + to play PS2 or netflix or whatever. Even though I will have + anyway. PS+ is kinda like netflix in my opinion, its a cheap awesome service that is a great tie in with the console itself.

I don't play console games online. The only games I play online are shooters and World of Warcraft, and I hate controllers for shooters. So this requirement to pay to play online is a non issue for me.

The thing about Playstation+ though, is that although it's required to play online, it still provides you with much more than Xbox live Gold membership. Discounts, exclusive content and discounts are totally worth the 5(?) bucks a month. If you use your Playstation as your main source for gaming, it should give you it's value in all of the previously mentioned benefits on it's own.

I don't play my PS3 online, so not having an online PS4 doesn't really influence my opinion.

That said, the only reason I'd be getting a PS4 in the first place is if there are some really good games that I simply must-have-or-I'll-die.

I'm happy to pay a small fee to help maintain the servers of the games I'm going to be playing a lot on PS4, plus a free game each month? I'm interested. $5 is like £3 which is barely anything, I can't see it hurting me

As long as the multiplayer is the only thing behind the paywall, I won't have any issues with the PS4. My Xbox Live Gold subscription ran out a week ago, and I've lost access to Netflix. It's ridiculous that I have to pay a fee to access a service for which I am already paying. How do they justify that after covering the dashboard with ads?

No. It doesn't look like anything special and I like to wait till it comes into the market these days so critics can analyze it better.

If it doesn't have too many annoying features and actually has some great games coming to it then I will probably.

What do you think? Is the requirement enough to stop you from buying a ps4?
Absolutely not.

The only thing that bothers me is that I have to put some thought into what account of mine I really need/want to PS+ up, as it needs to be the one I want to use to play online, manage my save game data and be able to play my games in the most original, unaltered and uncensored way possible. So, it's obviously got to be an alt account for me. Pity, that. It really bothers me that my current country of residence does not let me officially pick 'English' as a language, so I always run the risk of games annoying me into a frenzied rage on that one.

As long as I am allowed to upgrade one of my alts as my plus account of choice, I'm a pretty happy camper. Don't forget that 360 gamers/users have been paying for online functions from day one, so, it's not really that unexpected if one put some effort into staying in touch with business reality and the costs of the whole infrastructure behind the scenes. Add all those special offers and free games to the equation and it's hardly a difficult decision. Sure, free is pretty much always better, but I prefer 'paid' to 'none at all'. Kudos to Sony for letting us freeload our interactive online entertainment needs off their backs for, what, six years now? Respect. Most competitors would have shut that down after, say, three years max.

Absolutely. I'm disappointed by the fact that it's required, but it's certainly not enough to stop me, as I already pay for the service and it's well worth the value. It looks like it'll continue to be worth it too, as you get DriveClub, a launch title, for free. I mean, in Australia, that PS+ Subscription fee of $70 is significantly less than I'd be paying for Driveclub, so it pretty much pays for itself. If they have to start charging for online multiplayer in order to provide such an excellent service, I'll support them, even if I would prefer multiplayer to remain free.

I've gotten Xcom Enemy Unknown, Deus Ex HR and I'm getting Zero Escape through PS+ this month alone.

If Sony keeps up with bringing me quality content, I'd be happy to pay $50/year for it.

Sure I'm little disappointed, but I can grudgingly accept it.

I don't really care that they are making online paid now. Xbox Live had to be paid for for years, and Sony hardly won anything despite offering the same service for free, so I don't blame them for wanting to cash in. They already did enough by not taking the easy road and following Microsoft's suit regarding DRM, and always online, and a mandatory bundled Eye gadget.

But that said, I probably won't be buying it. I don't play online that much, and don't really care for it when I do. I had a 360 for probably 6 years now, and only paid for Xbox Live for two of them. It wasn't that great, so I'll save my money. I'll change my mind if I see genuinely good things being offered for free on PS+ though.

I very rarely play games online anyways, so it doesn't affect me all that much, but say something shows up down the road where I end up wanting to play online and all that, then, yes, I'll pay for it. It kind of sucks after having it for free for PS3, but the PS4 has won me over in every other aspect that paying for a little something extra doesn't hurt too much. I've heard PS+ on PS3 is pretty good and well worth it anyways, so I really don't think I'll mind if I ever decide I want it.

It depends on the library of offline games that comes out for it. I'd like to play console games with my friends around the world, but I don't like paying for the service on a console game. I'd much rather get it without + ONLY if they give me enough games to peak my interest.

Not in the immediate future at the very least. I knew the instant the Xbozone announced they were continuing the subscription service, I wasn't gonna get it. After paying for xbox live all these years, I told myself I'm not paying another subscription service.

I recently got a gaming PC (And to all those people who say you should build your own rig, fuck you. It's been a headache and a half.), so I'm hopefully gonna ween off the consoles here in the future.

If I'm in a comfortable position monetarily, I'll buy myself a Playstation. But definitely not anytime soon.

I paid for xbox live so no big deal for me, especially since ps plus includes bonuses.

These CONSOLES are making me THIRSTY!
I love seinfeld.
Me too. Have you seen Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee? The one with Kramer is hilarious.

OT- yes Plus definitely seems like a better deal than xbl.

It was gutting, but it makes a huge amount of sense, especially since have a heavily featured online is seen as so important now. And if it's whats helping them give indie's free updates on their games, then that's not a bad thing.

Before the announcement I'd already decided PS+ was probably worth it for the free games alone, so ultimately a part of me is even pretty glad
