I didn't buy the first XBOX because I already had a PS2, which did very much the same job - right down to mostly playing the same games.

I didn't buy the XBOX 360 because I had already decided on a PS3, which did very much the same job - only for free, and without randomly self-destructing.

I didn't buy the Wii because it looked like a dinky little toy next to the PS3 and 360. Besides, I hate the "motion sensor" - concept.

I'm not going to buy the XBONE because it's making the Wii look really, really good.

I might wait and see what Sony comes out with, but seriously, I want a Wii now.

Yea yea whatever you guys say... and I'm actually expecting nothing, therefore I can't be disappointed but at least I keep an open mind and don't judge before the fact.
That's fine but I had another point in my post. The Xbox 360 looked pretty tasty at launch, and even a couple of years later, then they dropped the ball completely for us gamers. Now they have so few exclusives with which to care about, an online service that gets worse with each iteration, laughable presentations, they've dropped Inside Xbox (which I enjoyed) and XNA.

You say "wait for the games." But even if the launch titles are simply amazing who's to say they won't repeat the pattern? It's this possibility as well as the fact I don't even expect anything good at launch (and these days my 360 plays rentals exclusively) that I can say with utmost sincerity that there is no possibility of me getting one.

If I get a next gen console, and that's a pretty big "if" right now, it'll be Sony made. I'm not saying they haven't ever dropped the ball but at least they make the effort to pick it up. Also they're launch was pretty rocky but whether it was out of improvement or just consistency, the PS3 looks much better than the 360 does now, which leads me to have more faith in them than I do Microsoft.

Wasn't going to buy one anyways. I think I'm skipping this next generation all together. I have 25 years worth of games I can play if I ever get the need. That's the keyword. GAMES. You know, those things you play to have a good time. Those things that consoles have been built around since the 70's, except now, because for some god forsaken reason, they think it's all about social media and TV. Fuck that noise. I'm clearly not the target audience anymore, and I'm not upset or angry or bitter about it. I just don't care.

Personally, the once a day connection doesn't bother me. I am connected to the internet on my PS3 at least once a day if I play it at all, so I don't mind. I won't buy it however because I am a sony user and since the XO doesn't look that great game-wise, I think I'll stick to PS4.

Long before the new generation of consoles was announced I had decided I was going to wait a year or 2 for the price to go down, the games that are actually good to come out, and to make sure that the things actually worked (I don't want a repeat of that 360 RROD fiasco) before I got any of them, but all the latest on the Xbox One has put the final nail in the coffin for me, even though most of those issues don't effect me. If the PS4 does anything even remotely as douchey as the Xbox One, I guess I'll finally completely join with the PC master race. Most of the stuff actually worth playing is crossplatform to the PC anyway.

You know what would fix all of Xbones problems? If Microsoft employees actually used the internet. I know they don't because if they did then they would have realized by now that always online is a terrible idea. Of course if they do then it just means they don't know how to read which at this point wouldn't surprise me. Honestly I don't even care (too much) about the used game protection crap. If I want a game I'm gonna get it regardless of whether I can get it used or not, but it doesn't change the fact that the entire system is just a bad, bad, bad idea. Funny thing is that if PS4 does this exact same thing I won't even care. The only games I get for the PS3 in the first place are Nippon Ichi games and anything in the Tales series and I always buy those new because I think that they are wonderful games and the creators deserve the money for being so awesome at making games and genuinely caring what their fans think.

I absolutely love the 360, Its one of my favorite consoles. But the Xbone is not going to be on my shopping list, unless Microsoft removes the online once every 24 hours, and the drm bullcrap. PS4 and Pc for me this generation.

Nope. Still not touching it. I don't want to have to connect to their servers to play my SINGLE PLAYER GAMES! I shouldn't need an internet connection to play a game like Fallout 3. It doesn't have any multiplayer component.

I don't have an Xbox, just the Playstation 1-3.
So as a natural progression I would probably get PS4.

Still, when I was buying my PS3 I was at least considering the 360. It didn't seem too bad, and there were a few games i wanted.

I don't see myself putting any time or consideration into my choice this time around.

Nope. No way am I going to support such anti-consumer bullshit. PS4 is looking really tempting about now, especially when they announced that they're looking into having the whole PS1/2/3 back catalogue up for streaming. Wouldn't surprise me if Sony were thinking about a similar idea for DRM and used content restriction though. If they are, then fuck them too. I'm still PC first and foremost, and I hope to spend my money getting a new one that can actually play my stack of 60+ games.

I wasn't going to buy one anyway. Only reason why I bought a 360 was because I could write it off on my taxes.

I never planned to buy a next-gen console anyway. With university coming this year and that I already have a rather nice laptop, I doubt I'll have the time or money, at least for a few years.

I have never owned any of the Xboxi or whatever the plural is, so I wasn't planning to buy the next one. But I do pay some attention to what these consoles offer. Xbone seems like a pile of bad ideas or at least poor marketing for ideas that would be good.

It sounds like Xbone is trying to be a solution to that whole cloud thing people keep talking about, that is unlikely to get here because it's too expensive to set up a network of cloud computing. The Xbone solves this by selling the end user their own private unit. So you can access your library on your home unit at a friend's house or wherever you are from whatever device, currently just another Xbone, you happen to be using. If they had made it so that you could access your Xbone library from your smartphone, people would be a bit more excited about this rather than bitching that it has to be always on. I haven't watched their actual presentation, so I may have to see what they actually say, but it just sounds like they had a good idea, poorly implemented and sold poorly.

Will i buy an Xbox One? Yes

Will I buy it at launch? No

As someone who can't afford to buy all of the consoles at once, I usually end up buying one console. (this generation it was the 360, last generation it was the PS2) Towards the end of the generation after the cost of the console comes down, I buy whatever console (or consoles) I missed out on and play the exclusives that I really want to.

Just as an example. I just purchased a brand new PS3 a week ago. For $250 I got a 250 GB console along with InFamous, InFamous 2, Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2. Getting that much content at launch would have cost me somewhere around $750. (incidentally I also downloaded 4 free games off Playstation Plus so bonus value there)

It's looking like the Xbox One will be the secondary console for me next generation, meaning that I'll be buying all of my multi-platform games for the PS4. When I do finally by the Xbox One, I'll be ultimately paying much less for the console, much less for the games that I purchase, buying fewer games for the Xbox than I would have, and I won't be paying into Xbox live until later. All of that ultimately means less money coming into Microsoft. I don't know if anybody else shares this approach to gaming, but if it does I feel like this will hurt Microsoft more in the long run than people not buying the console (remember that they sell the consoles at a loss)

Here's the link for where I found the deal by the way, just in case anyone is interested. (The games don't come with cases but they are physical disks, not download codes, which kinda blew me away)
