Hard for me to say, I always wait until at least a few of my friends get a new console and then I get the same one. If most of my friends get a 720 so will I, if most of my friends get a PS4 so will I.

Always online isn't a big deal for me either way (knock on wood) since my internet is very stable.

There needs to be another choice on the poll for "It is impossible to answer this question now because there isn't any information to base it on." That would be my vote.

This.

Seriously, people, stop overreacting over god-damned rumors. I don't care how consistent they are, until Microsoft says it themselves I will gladly sit here and wait for what they reveal.

Even if the rumors aren't true I'm not buying one. My 360 dashboard is drowning in ads, and I expect it will only get worse on the newer console.

Surely they would've said something by now if the console wasn't always online? Keeping silent about it only fuels the rumors and damages their reputation.

I bought the original and a 360. There is no reason to buy any consoles next gen though. The always-on DRM of 720 makes it crap. I saw an article that said that over 70% of Xbox users are always online anyway, but that does not matter. When I buy a console, I want to be able to roll it out in 20+ years and dust off the classic games. M$ misses the point here.

As for the other console, it is horrible too. The Ps4 specs are far too low for something that will be playing games in 2018 and beyond.

Regardless of whether the rumors turn out to be true or not I will most likely go the PS4 route for my token next gen console. I had a number of bad experiences with my Xbox 360 dying regardless of what I did to ensure it had adequate cooling. This all changed after I bought one of the newer models, but the fact that I can still play my PS2, Gamecube, N64, Sega Genesis, etc. despite the fact that they sat in boxes for years left me with a particularly bitter feeling in my gut. My 360 gets more use as an entertainment center, playing Netflix, HuluPlus, HBO GO, and DVDs than it does games and I plan on getting a PS3 sometime this year and will likely move those services over to that and not renew my Xbox Live membership come November when it expires.

All that said though, I will not be getting a PS4 within the first year or two of its lifespan. I bought a decent gaming PC and that is where most of the upcoming titles that interest me are being released on, so I will probably wait until whatever kinks the PS4 will undoubtedly come with are ironed out.

Uhhhmmm... okay. I will be sure to inform my buddies of this when we go out his weekend. Then I will still buy whichever one most of them go with.

I like consoles and I play lots of multiplayer stuff with my friends. None of them really seem to want to go PC and everybody has good internet. I'm not loyal to a particular console but I am loyal to console gaming as long as most of my friends keep using them.

And I still have all my old consoles back to the NES and I haven't touched anything but my 360 in years so that's not a big deal either, not much for retro gaming personally, unless it's ancient PC stuff from GoG or Steam.

I'll wait to hear what both consoles are offering, then make an informed decision based on the facts. To do anything else seems like an incredibly poor idea.

Eh probably not. I don't like the direction microsoft seems to be heading and they are doing a great job of fucking up all their first party games as well.

I play a hell of a lot of my games on the 360 and would love to support the Nextbox, but if this always-online rumour is true then my money is going to Sony.

Yup, could have used one of those options.

If the 720 has always online, then I wont buy it. That, along with any potential inability to play used games, are deal-breakers for me.

Gods no, I would have to buy a television set :p

Honestly, I still don't believe the always-online thing is actually going to happen, it just doesn't make any sense to me at all why they would do that.
Even if they did want to use it as some form of DRM they could just as easily put the always-online requirement in the games themselves rather than in the console and maybe avoid a bit of bad press up front, by putting it in the console they're also forcing game developers to go along with it even though that may not have been their intention.

If the current rumors are true: I myself will not get one. My brother probably will, though.

If most of the current rumors are false, but one of the two main rumors (Always on or No Pre-purchased games): No again.

If most of the current rumors are false, aside from no BC: Sure... or My brother will get one.

Really, it all depends it if requires a constant internet connection or it can allow Pre-purchased games.

so in other words, "will you buy a console without knowing anything about the games i can expect from it?" no, hell no. i dont care about always online or anything like that. the games are all that matter to me and neither of the upcoming consoles have me convinced that the games for it will justify the purchase. ill probably be sticking with my pc until they are both at LEAST 6 months old. however, since neither the xbox or 360 had exclusives that i was interested in, i think its a safe bet that ill be skipping the 720 completely
