HATRED is, well... I really don't know exactly what HATRED is. From the trailer I interpret it as a realistic looking mass shooting massacre simulator (playing as the bad guy). Just imagine you take the part of a game where you can go rampant shooting every innocent person you meet on the street for no good reason, make it dark, serious and joke-free, make the main goal to shoot the innocents; and you get this trailer. The character simply wants to die violently, and the rest of the world to die with him.

Is it good? I have no idea. But one thing is sure: saying that this game will generate controversy is the understatement of the freaking year.

You know...this is the first time I've seen the Hatred trailer. I saw threads about it before but I couldn't be bothered to look into it deeply.

I'll tell you what I anticipated...I anticipated something that was really tediously "Ooooh so dark, so edgy", sort of a teeny rage made visceral sort of deal. And I expected to roll my eyes and feel very tired.

This though? I was actually laughing pretty hard. This strikes me as deliberate Swiftian satire. I might be wrong, it might just be a staggering case of a lack of awareness, but it seems too over the top, if you know what I'm saying. Particularly the opening narration. The delivery reminded me of Gob Bluth from Arrested Development.

So...maybe? If it turns out to be a very clever satire? Or if it's all brilliant in the game play department? I dunno I have a lot of games to play over the next year or so, it'd have to be pretty special, but anything is possible.

I voted for probably when it's cheap since I like the look of the gameplay, I honest'y don't care about the message or the "killing innocent people" schtick since those aren't real people and it's a video game and while I do like some of the gameplay I'm not seeing myself paying top price since it's more or less average and the only thing really going for it is the killing unarmed people thing.

That said I don't believe the game should be censored or shut down, we are meant to strive for creativity and new ideas, this isn't one of the ebst but at least it;s something new instead of you vs bad guy or aliens/terrorists.

Um... no.

All themes aside, it just doesn't look very interesting to me. If I wanted to kill a bunch of innocents I could just play like a billion sandbox games, most of which look better and have other engaging things to do. The trailer just didn't interest me.
Plus I found the over-the-top emo thing a bit silly, and I'm not sure if I was supposed to.

Nah, I'm not a fan of top down shooters. I got a little squeamish watching the trailers too, may not be in my interest to play the finished product.

Lol no. If I want to play a game like that I'll just play GTA2 or the Loaded series or Saints Row 3.

They are a hell of a lot more entertaining than what this game looks to be. Maybe if I were an angsty 14 year old, the Manhunt lover me would be somewhat interested in this.

As it stands there are more fun and interesting games out there already that have done what this game is doing. Hotline Miami, Hitman Blood Money.

No, I'm not a fan of top down shooters, or top down games in general. I'll make an exception if the story is very good, like I did with Bastion, but this game does not appear to have a good story.

No. It looks like bollocks.

What the tabloids think GTA is, this game seems to actually be. Pointless violence.

I like top down shooters and if it manages to have some good mechanics (the levell destruction and animations looked good in the trailer) and manages to be challenging then I may buy it. Not interested at all in supporting any agenda, either for censoring or promoting based on how violent the game is.

Only care about the gameplay and as a top down shooter fan I am interested.

I don't like this character for the same reason I don't like Max Payne; both wallowing in their self-righteous pity. For those wishing to defend the character by stating it's satire of sorts, so was Claptrap from Borderlands and I wanted to kill him.

Apart from that, I'm not the biggest fan of this kind of game layout, so I'm the wrong audience anyways.

Closer to Far Cry Blood Dragon or Starship Troopers?
Could be, time will tell.

Have too many games, not a big fan of shooters or gangsta games, never felt any urge or interest to play Postal, so I won't buy it (I was offered Hotline Miami for instance, and still have to finish it).
Haven't a problem with people playing it, each his own. And as long as this doesn't become a leading trend in future games, well, studios can release some stuff like this from times to times if there's a market to it (which means once every few years apparently).

Nah, or at least I have no plans. It just doesn't look like the kind of thing that would appeal to me on any level. Don't get me wrong, I can enjoy gore if it's done with a bit of style and panache, like Gears of War or any of the many zombie games I own, but this game just seems a bit tryhard and lacking in substance.

No, it looks too one-note to me.

If the trailer had been a parody (which was actually what I thought it was going to be when I first heard about it), I thought it would be a funny 3 minutes, but for a whole game it doesn't seem like there's much to it once you get past the shock factor.

Voted: Maybe if it's good.

Here's my opinion on the game from another thread about this game:

So its effectively the best parts of a grand theft auto game...

It would feel hypocritical of me to call this game out when I've let so many others go by that allows players to be complete psychos. Even games like Fallout and Skyrim let you do the same thing.

More to the point...I firmly believe that people aren't influenced by games to do acts of violence. As such, the harm that this game may cause is no more significant than the harm of any given book, tv show or other medium that depicts violence on the innocent.

The preview trailer is so over the top that it's clearly not glorifying any of the acts either. I'd simply call this game tasteless based on what little I've been exposed to. I'm as 'insulted' by this as I would be a game like Dragon's Crown or Dead or Alive volleyball.

As mentioned...it seems to be based on the best parts of a grand theft auto game. That alone makes the game at least somewhat interesting. I have very little disposable income though...so saying I'm interested in a game almost always translates to no sale. This game would have to be exceptionally good in my eyes to be among the 2 or 3 games I can afford to buy in a year (that aren't ridiculously discounted like on those bundle sites).

Case and Point: The only new games I bought this year were Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Even then, RoS was fully paid for from auction house sales and effectively cost me nothing out of pocket.

'No, it looks stupid, monotonous and shallow.'

and to that I'll add 'only exists to piss people off'. I don't buy games who's sole reason to exist is to anger the masses.

Ick, no. I'm waiting for games to come up with something other than "resolve conflict via murder", and this one is trying so hard that it looks positively regressive.
