Poll: Will you get Bioshock Infinite?

Yes, absolutely.

It is a steampunk shooter in the sky that lets you shoot a rattling gun while hanging on to a huge rollercoaster to move around while splicers shoot rockets at you.

They had me at steampunk. Hell, how could you not want this?

This sums up my thoughts and feeling on the subject matter really well.

Although I do hope there is a demo of some sorts because my computer is starting to show it's age and I really don't want to buy it and find out I can't play it. ;-;

Most definitely yes. Bioshock was pretty decent in its gameplay mechanics, so judging by what we've seen from Infinite so far, it's getting me excited for better gameplay.

I'm coming from a different mindset from most here, in that I never really got into the first game and haven't bothered playing the second. While the story and setting were really interesting in the first, i've just never been able to get into the gameplay side of things, and since the story seems to of been well and truly neutered for the second game, I never even bothered to pick it up.

Having said that, i'm actually somewhat looking forward to Infinite. Again, the setting looks amazing, and the little detail I know about the story sounds really interesting. I just hope that I can engage with the gameplay more so in this game.

Of course, I mean, have you seen the newest trailer? Have you seen any of the trailers?! How could you say no to any of them? Even if Bioshock wasn't already one of my favorite games ever, it would still be a day one buy just based on what I've seen of the game so far.

The guys with trumpets for heads are fucking scary, I don't know what you're talking about. And I already ordered the Songbird edition. I think the skyrails are a stupid idea, but hey, it's more Bioshock.

I've had it preordered for something like a year now.

Personally, I'm pretty glad they're moving away from Rapture. Staying under the sea would've just dragged the franchise on, moving to a completely new and different location gives everyone (the art designers, the writers, the programmers) a whole new leash to play around with. Everything about the game can play out differently when compared to the first one, and it hopefully won't be riding under the coattails of System Shock 2 like the first game did.

ALMOST definitely.

I say almost because I'm slightly worried the plot might get a little convoluted. I mean, we've got the songbird, the whole trans-dimensional thing, the socio-political-philosophical aspect, not-plasmids, the player-character's backstory, and this video, which talks about actual fucking ghosts.

Yeah. I'm reminded of when I was watching Lost, and just when I thought I had a handle on the plot, they'd throw a four-toed statue at me. It's gonna be tough to cover all these plot threads and still have a story that actually GOES anywhere with them.



Still, Bioshock is hands-down my favorite game of all time, so I'm absolutely willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

I'll give this an optimistic "probably." Unlike the rest of the internet, I wasn't crazy about Bioshock. It was fun, but it was far from mindblowing. The RPG elements never seemed to level up enough that I felt powerful and the difficulty curve was all messed up. I was told it was "too easy" and short by everyone, so I played it on hard and it was nearly impossible. Then once I switched back I was permanently underpowered the whole game. The last few levels and final boss felt a touch generic, too. I look forward to a different world to explore and I hope I have a lot more freedom in how I play it, rather than have to play Pipe Dream minigames every five minutes.

I never decide to buy games before they have been out for a good three months or so. Even though Bioshock (the original) is definitely in my top 5 games of all time, it doesn't guarantee that Bioshock: Infinite will be any good. I skipped Bioshock 2 for example and I certainly don't regret doing that, that game seems like an unnecessary addition to the series.

But from what we can see now, the game does look like it's shaping up well.

I thought Bioshock 1 was -okay- and far from great, and didn't play Bioshock 2.
I am, however, a massive steampunk fan, and this game's aesthetic looks right up my alley. I am guaranteed buying it.

I loved the first one and enjoyed the second one.
I think it'll be a great game, but I'm somehow not very excited about it. Not sure why. I know someone who's definitely going to get it, so I'll try his copy a bit before I make a decision.
So maybe.

I absolutely adored the first, while my interest of the second was lukewarm at best (the major selling point for me on the first was exploring rapture after all) this change of scenery looks stunning and the trailers, teasers and gameplay shown so far cemented it for me, I have very few day 1 purchases these days let alone pre-orders but I've pre-ordered the crap out of this!
