Ngarlghh... I hate myself for this, but yes, I'd stop you.
The prequels revivified SW fandom. The two SW-related things I've enjoyed most (that being KOTOR and the NJO series) probably wouldn't have existed if the prequels didn't happen, the EU would still be stuck in those godawful repetitious-ass "Luke and the Gang fight the 9,347,556th incarnation of the Empire" books where there's never any risk and nothing interesting ever happens. (Yes, if you're about to say "like 'and Luke and the Gang fight the 9,347,556th version of the Sith' is any better?", I agree with that too. But for a while there we had some genuine creativity and stuff we haven't seen a hundred times before, and that was nice!)
Also, TPM fandom was a lot of fun to be in and I met some wonderful people there. Best of all, the prequels generally brought most SW fans to the "the idea is wonderful but really, George Lucas sucks donkey dick" table and put a big hole in the whole idea that the Jedi are actual good guys. And the Darth Maul saber fights were fucking awesome.
