I'll wait a few years, like I always do.

Devs usually continue releasing games on the old platform for about a year anyways.

Besides which, since I've got Skyrim it'll be at least four years until I need a new game ;)

I think we don't need a new generation yet, I'm too poor anyway after last and soon-to-be this year.

But for me, I might for one console and get the other one later, but the only thing I care about is that they can play the previous generation games and I can transfer the former generations memory onto the next one.

Xbox720 (Are they REALLY gonna call it that!), I might buy on launch, ONLY if, they have a decent amount of memory, can play previous gen games and can transfer the memory from my previous Xbox360 onto itself...wirelessly! (or not, also if it has new features)

PS4, Maybe later or not, depends if I get the new Xbox, if has to have to same reasons as above, but has a better hub, the PS3 hub is really hard to navigate. (or just takes a long time)

WII U, I'm gonna wait until they get some good games...and a good review!

Or I might just upgrade my PC (MY WALLET. D:), but that will cost a heap and will passed within a year.

...So please don't announce/replace/rumor any new gen consoles....just yet. (WIIu excluded)

I probably won't buy any console until it's on sale for a significant discount, or otherwise if there are a few games that I really want to play that end up as exclusives. I'm more of a PC gamer these days consoles just haven't been offering anything nearly interesting enough to overshadow the benefits of playing on PC.

I'd only upgrade early if it has backwards compatibility. That way, even if the launch titles turn out to be stinkers I can still play the games from the previous generation.

Steam has shoved consoles WAY out of my price range in terms of cost.

60 Bucks for an ok game?

I dunno...I could get 6-10 games for that price on steam. Sometimes the exact same games.

If the PS4 is announced with a new Final Fantasy game, and has full PS1/2/3 backwards compatibility, I'll buy it on launch. I probably won't buy a 720 because I've never gotten into the Xbox consoles. As for the WiiU, I'll wait until Metroid and Zelda are released for it before I purchase it.
True full backwards compatibility would cause me to buy it Day 1 and then never ever look at price drops because I don't care.

But they won't do that because they don't like money.

I think I'll wait for 1. Price to drop (God kows the prices will be outrageous)
2. For all companies to fix any flaws or make any changes that need to be made.
3. For the next Gen to build a decent library.
4. For my friends to any of the consoles so I can try them out before buying any of them.

As a PC gamer I laugh at your puny console attempts to "upgrade". It makes me feel better about spending really ?2000 on my gaming rig!

If I was getting a 720 though, I wait and see what games were on it, buy more importantly, price.

My brother and loads of mates game on the 360, I think it still has plenty of life in it!

I seldom upgrade immediately as I prefer to an idea of the caliber of the unit after it's initial launch hype.

That said, it is extremely likely that I'll pick up a PS4 within 2 years of it's release, and possibly a Wii U within that time span as well so long as it either eliminates motion controls or vastly improves upon them.

I'm hesitant about the Xbox 720 because of it's history of hardware issues. If I should get one, it likely wouldn't be for another 4 years.

I should note that it's often a game that leads to my purchase of a console. Resident Evil 5 was my main reason to get the PS3 once I learned it wouldn't be released on Wii.

well, since we have heared rumours of microsoft working on a new console (which confuses me why) and we know that the wii u will definatley be released soon, im guessing that the next console gen will go the same as last time, and since the ps3 has pretty up to date hardware then i doubt they will make another console for at least another 4 years.

that being said i wouldn't want another playstation console at the moment mainly because of how this one works well and will keep working well for quite some time. the xbox started lagging behing technologically wise so i thin that it does need a new console and nintendo need to shove a firecracker up their arses to get something original out which is fun but not teidious or repeated on at least 20 different games.

right now i sound like i hate all consoles apart from the ps3 right? wrong! i think all have there merits and shouldn't go unrewarded for their attempts, like the xbox's vast and easily emmersive onine, or the wii's "we had that idea first" notion controll (please don't bother bringing up the eye toy) and obviously the ps3's ability to hold a discustingly large game on a 10th of the disc (even though we havent really seen it tested yet).

at the end of the day i think most fans will stay with their respective franchises and so will i, and don't expect another console for a good amount of time because it still works beautifully.

*prdictions*

the wii u will come out first and make many sales due to their well known game franchises.

the xbox 720 will come out second with it just being the bare bones of what it will become at a relatively low price but add-ons costing a good chunk.

ps4 will come out last with everything it will need and won't adapt much but with a bigger price tag than the other two.

my god this is getting long, and i would be suprised if anybody actually read all of that...

Won't buy it until they stop making games. That's just how I roll~! Might just wait until someone gets me one for a gift, then buy the other when I feel like it.

Hell no! I don't have the kinda money to buy a new console. I don't think anyone does. I think it's too soon for a new generation because no one has the kind of money to buy all this new stuff.

It's a definite no for me. Ever since the Xbox 360, I have always had a 2-year grace period before buying any new consoles. The obvious reasons are to prevent getting buggy systems, make necessary changes/improvements to the hardware and software, and having a much larger library of games to chose from. It will also be more inexpensive to buy the console, games, controllers, and other accessories.

The only time that I might break the grace period is if a console exclusive game that I am looking forward to is being released (either on launch day or in between the 2-years). For this reason, I fear that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be a PS4 exclusive and might be released close to the launch of the console.

But that rarely happens, so I'm not worried.

I have a backlog of well over 100 games. I think I should wait till I cut it in half before getting even bigger backlog

Perhaps some better RAM and a more recent video card...

Wait...the new consoles?

Oh....Umm...Not really...

I spent money on a newer Xbox 360 and hardly use it :(

Feels like a waste really

I normally wait a few years for it to become cheap enough for me to buy it.
However, when the next-gen is out I'll be going/at college and might just buy a laptop to use for work and my gaming needs.
I'm planning on getting a laptop this year anyways and a adapter for my xbox360 controller. ;)
