I'd like to think Microsoft is upgrading and people who use say it works fine. But then most people want it to bomb horribly and refuse to have it installed. Haven't seen it for myself so I don't know what to think.
Any bets on the next flavor of the month?TopazFusion said:http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.381407-So-Windows-8-whos-using-it

I'm glad this forum has largely moved on from feminism / gender wars / gun control debates, but sheesh ...

Alright, OT:
It will probably be best suited for the mobile devices market, since Windows 7 is still perfectly fine for the PC market.
I don't think. I know. It's on my laptop right now, and I like it better than 7.Rattler5150 said:What do you think windows 8 will be like?
Agreed. It is pretty, umm, reluctant, when it comes to setting up everything (that hidden menu on the right of the screen thing is a *****, and I still miss the Start button) but on a TV Metro works well. I won't be running it on my desktop, but on my livingroom PC where all it needs to do is program TV recording, play TV and movies, and boot games it is really quite good. As long as you don't need to dig into it to set stuff up. Also it is super cheap compared to previous MS OSes. $40 for an upgrade from XP, Vista, Win7 or even the consumer preview? That is Apple OS cheap!broadbandaddict said:Windows 8 will be great for tablets and home theater PCs. I use it on our HTPC and it is awesome. I haven't used it on a tablet or a computer with a touch screen but it seems like it would be really nice. I don't really like Metro for my desktop but the performance increases might make me switch anyways. I think that the average consumer might like it more too, my grandparents actually know how to use a computer now because of how simple Metro is (it's pretty much iPad level, one button that takes you home and one app at a time if you use metro apps).
edit: Even if it fails I say good for Microsoft. It seems like more and more companies are too scared to try anything, look at the gaming industry or the automotive industry. I may not like where it is going but I've learned something recently about technology, it's not really built for me anymore, it's built for the masses.
