I had a friend tell me after scouring several forums that Windows 7 is getting ripped by most people. This surprised me. I've had 7 for about a year now and it hasn't given me any problems. That's not hyperbole. I have had zero problems with my OS since switching from XP. This just made me curious, like how everyone HATED Vista when it first came out (I for one bought a brand new computer during the vista era and I asked them to put XP on it instead.) and how people didn't like Windows ME for whatever reasons (I was running 98 at the time) so I ask all of you:

Out of the three windows operating systems right now, which one do you prefer, or which one are you running?

I've used Windows 7 in classes, and I have it dual-booted on my Mac, but I haven't found any situations yet where I really have to use it yet. From what I've heard, it's what Vista should have been. New format, but faster and less crap.

Using it in classes, the only problem I have with it is the lack of keyboard shortcuts, but that's just because I'm a creature of habit.

XP > 7 > Vista
In my opinion anyway. I spend a lot of time working with all of them, as an IT technician, but I still prefer XP

I use Vista, mostly because it was cheaper than getting xp at the time and I was planning to upgrade to 7. But after 2 and a bit years of it I've never had a problem, so I stuck with it.

Still not as good as windows 98SE though.

I'll never understand people. I had more trouble with the two computers I had running XP than I've had with multiple computers running Vista and 7.

7 has been godly in my experience. Vista was excellent. XP was utter shit. 98 Was the embodiment of perfect at the time. 95 was decent enough. 3.1 was... Well, 3.1.

7 for me, the only benefit of using Windows XP is backwards capability for old PC games, but other than KOTOR2 I have had no problems running old software on 7 so far (KOTOR2 probably doesn't work due to other reasons anyway).

Edit: Although I use to like XP a lot, I still had loads of problems with it. So far no problems with 7, and thats coming up to a year now.

I have been using win7 ultimate for over a year now and i had no problems, can`t remember if it ever crashed or freezed.. BTW i don`t get all the love for XP, whenever i remember it it makes me think of a frozen screen or the blue screen of death.

I'm running Windows XP at the moment. Mostly because I can't afford Windows 7 right now.

I got a chance to try out 7 for a while though and I definitely found it better than XP. Never had any problems with it. I'm fine with both but I'd probably prefer 7.

I currently run Windows XP. I strongly dislike Windows and most Microsoft software (i.e. everything that isn't made for developers) and I'd switch to Linux instantly if it had real Direct X support, or the game industry moved away from Direct X.

The biggest thing I dislike about Windows Vista, 7, and XP is that Microsoft has a habit of including way too many features that I never use and their user friendly options make it a headache for me to solve problems or improve my system. For example, recently I was trying to connect a Windows 7 laptop to my wireless network, and though as far as I could tell it should have been able to connect easily I couldn't for some strange reason; the more annoying part of this being that when I tried to get Windows to tell me the actual error it would instead try to automatically the correct the problem and still refuse to tell me the actual problem.

I also dislike that running Windows 7 alone would take up more resources than every program I'm currently running.

I use Vista, the only problems I've ever encountered were that it is not compatible with most 3 in 1 printer/scanner/copiers, and the wireless was tempermental at connecting to my universities wireless, but the technicians just told us how to change a bit of code and that sorted that.

Windows 7 is fantastic. I remember when I installed it and it found all the drivers for everything automatically. Awesome.

7 on my gaming rig, never had a problem with it.

I have just installed Ubuntu on this laptop and trying to get its wireless working seems to be an exercise in futility. I'm getting my arse kicked :(

Win7 pro. Rocky start (drivers didn't quite work in the beginning, I got it before it was actually on shelves through school), but It's been good to me ever since. Vista was garbage, XP was excellent for it's time.

Windows 7 has been nothing but amazing for me.

It looks nice, runs great, has cool features (being able to drag firefox to the side and word to the other side and they both take up 50% of the screen, automatic driver installation, etc) and just works.

Not to mention I got it for $30 through my school.
