Im running Vista x64, i love it, but then again i dont blink at buying a new video card or 2, as i bought myself for xmas, I cant compare the 2, simply because i havent usd XP for so long its not funny, apparently theres a thing called 'vista lag' in games, ive never noticed this myself, but as i said, im currently running 2 8800GT's.

The only thing i can say for sure is, if your going to go Vista, go 32bit. Unless of course your systems runs a quad core and 4gb ram.

Personal preference, i love vista, i find it easy to use and responsive, i like the feel of the OS. Once you turn off all the security alerts and UAC (user account control) it runs very nicely.

If your system is pretty new, you'll never have to go searching for drivers again, finally windows update is useful!

Absolute bullshit. If you know anything about using software, Vista will not use more RAM than XP. Besides, with 4GB of RAM and XP 32bit, you won't have any more than 3.25 to use.

Hmm... Actually that brings about some strange annoyances... If you want to use all 4GB RAM, you'll have to have a 64bit OS, which will cause big problems trying to run old programs.

I'd say, if your computer is well configured enough, and you know how to end useless programs with Task Manager, Vista will run just as fast as XP.

I don't feel any shame in - as a PC gamer - saying that all I require from an OS is smooth stable framerate (specially in FPS-games) and nice graphics and when I get the question about VISTA I say that sadly it does not fall in to the category what so ever.

The system requirements for VISTA are higher; they are by no means insane nor monsterous but they are significantly higher than Windows XP. That in effect makes less of the system resources available for the game you are runnign hence all system requirements for PC gamers are higher in VISTA than in Windows XP.

That in return affects the framerate in Windows VISTA for the worse making the game not-so-smooth at all compared to Windows XP and that in core is what PC gaming is all about to me.

As for the graphics - DirectX 10 doesn't hold much new compared to what is already out on DirectX v9.c. As mentioned they are some games that alegedly handle better in Windows VISTA DiretX10 and even some VISTA exclusive games like Halo 2 - but after messing around with the DLLs of the game some guys found out that the game runs perfectly fine on Windows XP with near-identical graphical effects. Ouch.

So I guess here comes my main questions - if everything works with Windows XP, why "fix" it with Windows VISTA?

They are a lot of reasons why I would want to try out new OSs on my PC, but VISTA is definetly not one of them.
