Poll: Witcher 1?

I enjoyed Witcher 1. Definitely one of my favorite RPGs.

Can't say whether you need it to play Witcher 2.

As far as whether you would enjoy it, find some gameplay vids on Youtube and see if it looks fun.

I personally can't speak to whether The Witcher 1 is any good, but I can answer your question - I played The Witcher 2 without any prior experience with the franchise, and had a grand old time, I never felt I was missing out by not having played the previous game.

They are both great games so I think you should play both, however, many people dislike Witcher 1 more so than Witcher 2, since the game isn't exactly everyone's cup of tea. I loved both, 1 more than 2 to be honest.

Hey guys. With the GOG sale about to end, and my Paypal finally warming up to me and letting me put money into it, I'm wanting to buy The Witcher 2.

However I would first like to know if I NEED Witcher 1 first or if Witcher 1 is even worth grabbing anyway.

Also, what are your experiences with the games? I mean they LOOK okay, but I've been fooled before.

They are both excellent games, though Witcher 1 is a bit of a struggle. The combat will take you a while to get used too and parts of the game drag without the benefit of fast travel and other modern conveniences.

Witcher 2 on the other hand is much more fun from a combat perspective (still a little janky, though I hear one of the devs did a combat update patch in his spare time which was recently released) and the story is probably one of the finest RPG tales ever.

Short version: Get em both if you can, if for no other reason than CDProjekt Red deserve your support. Finest developer currently making games in my opinion. The fact that one of the devs used his free time to update the combat engine (new animations, new talent trees, reworked spell combat) and they release a generous amount of free DLC should speak to that.

you don't need the witcher 1 unless you're a serious completionist nerd, the second one is quite a comprehensive witcher experience as long as you do all the quests

obviously if you enjoy the whole concept of the witcher then by all means get the first one, but it's not 'better' in any way, mostly people's nostalgia for a decent game just my 2c.

I can't really tell you what's best for you, so take it with a grain of salt.
