What if one day you wake up, go out, and see a group of people, and you realize that in this group of people, you find yourself attracted to someone who is the opposite gender of what you usually prefer? After walking around a while more you realize that it wasn't a one time thing, your sexual preference has been completely reversed.

Meaning, if you're a heterosexual, what would you do if you woke and realized you are now only attracted to people of the same sex as you? (Homosexual)

Also, if you're a homosexual, what would you do if you woke and realized you are now only attracted to people of the opposite sex? (Heterosexual)

Would you try to figure out why? Would you just go with it, and continue to live not really bothered by it? Would you try and force your preference back to what it usually was?

Flame repellent/Disclaimer: This question is open to everyone, no matter what gender, or sexual preference(in case I left any out). I'm not saying that any sexual preference is better than another. I'm not claiming that this is an awful scenario, It's just a scenario I thought up that I thought would be interesting to think about.

I'd feel very bad for my girlfriend and I hope I would retain some bisexuality in there.

For the sake of my girlfriend I'd try and figure out why, but assuming there was no answer... I'd deal with it and not be bothered by it from then on.

For one thing, I would contact Guinness World Records and set myself down as the first human to ever have their genes rewritten overnight.

After that, I suppose life would continue as normal. My relationships probably wouldn't change too terribly much. I just agree with Pedro and hope that I retain some bisexuality for my current girlfriend.

Well, assuming that is somehow happens, I'd try to figure out what went wrong. Not that I have anything against homosexuals, but I personally don't want to be one, and I guess there'd be some explaining to do to my family and friends, not to mention my GF...

Well, if I'm attracted to nobody, then who would I be attracted to?

Either way, I'd probably mourn the loss of my innocence.

Hmm, an interesting question, but something that just seems odd to me. I suppose it could be fair to say that my preferences came on like a switch, from not noticing to seeing people and going 'ooh'.

Myself if it were a complete 180 flip would go from who I am now to being what I am now! I'm in the middle just to annoy the hell out of you :D.

This is an interesting idea for a videogame. You awake one morning to find that your sexual orientation has been changed by an evil organization looking to make everyone homosexual, thus eliminating sex and therefore future generations of humanity.

Me, I'd hope for bisexuality.

How is it sad? I don't have to deal with the whole, "Relationship" thing.

If I suddenly woke up gay... I'd spend a few minutes wondering why, then just get on with life. Makes no difference to me personally and I doubt it'd bother my friends and family since most of them are either (a) very accepting, or (b) gay themselves. Only change would be that I'd probably getting laid a lot more than I do at the moment because, for some reason, I already get more offers from guys than women.

As it is, I'm bordering on asexual - I am attracted to women but I'm happy being single and don't care if I never have another relationship. Partly because I'm lazy and partly because I'm still kinda hung up on my ex, but mainly because it simply doesn't interest me.

How does one change their sexual preference from nothing?
...
...
Never mind, I guess I would be Bi then... How would I deal with it? How I deal with all things I don't expect. Adapt, learn, and then neutralize to return to normal.

Hey, chances are that in this scenario she is the one that drove you to it. :)

I'd go on unbothered for a bit. Unless changing sexual preference made my personality different or changed the ways I did things. Otherwise, I'd sip a cup of tea and move on.

I'd just go alone with it, theres nothing wrong with what one's sexualy happens to be, even thou this probably will turn to be a flame war soon.

What do you have with relationships?(Besides the inherent retardation behind most of them)
