Blizzard knows that WoW is comeing to the end of its life span they are throwing in expansions to increase time but eventually no one will play it. But what if Blizzard just jumps onto a MMORPG of Starcraft i know its a bit to take a handle of but think about.Blizzard makes tons of money with WoW when WoW finishes and is no longer profitable they might just clone WoW into another of there games World of Diablo, World of Starcraft. but this is a long way away of course its just i wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

So anyway do you think they will make more MMORPG's about there own games or do you disagree?

i discussed this in Borean tundra and someone also suggested that ' What if Starcraft and Warcraft got turned into the same game' i doubt it but still you never know.

Bit harsh to say that WoW is coming to its end. MMOs don't die if enough people keep their subscriptions, and it'll be safe to say WoW will still be going for at least another decade. It's still the most popular PC game according to Xfire. There is no rush.

I'll be interested to see how anyone attempts to turn an RTS into an MMO, and End of Nations may prove to be that template.

I'd give it a maybe, mostly because you'd only get two races to choose from. You've got the terrans and the protoss and thats about it.

Zerg don't count since they're pretty much animalistic bioweapons in a hivemind, controlled by a few psychic leaders like the Overmind and Kerrigan. Allowing zerg player characters any individuality would contradict the entire premise of the zerg.

The Xel'Nage are a possibility, but the in-game story makes them out to be some kind of god-like precursor race. For the sake of game-balance, making them a player race would require a power-down.

WoW is only going to be replaced by WoW 2. I seriously doubt they would make a world of starcraft, the races are just way too hard to split up into various classes and having three different factions would probably be really hard to manage/ make it a headache to get anything done for players. I mean look at how hard it is to get any kinda of decent guild together in WoW right now with only two factions, and you want to further divide the pool of players into 3?

Warcraft was/is really adaptable into the mmorpg setting because you have real general humanoids that can take up various RPG classes, but you go to starcraft and the units are really specialized and really don't play/fit into any kind of RPG role.

Considering blizzard is still working on the other 2 expansions of starcraft 2, i dont see a world of starcraft ever happening, atleast not for 5 years or more.

Why would you even consider the suggestions of that level of stupidity? These are 2 different universes, and I don't see Marvel or Capcom as being one of their names, so no.

And, while most people think Blizzard is cheap, do you honestly think they'll go the way of their phonies?
Well, there is a Tauren Marine in SC2, and Grunty the Space MArine the murloc in Wow...
But I don't think it'd be a good idea at all.

Give it a decade, and I wouldn't be all that surprised. Maybe startled a bit, but not surprised.
Unless it appeared within the decade, then I would be surprised.

I wonder how many people will play WoW when Blizzard releases it for free... RuneScape, Club Pinguin and all that other bullshit will just empty itself.

Won't happen. They already said it several times. Their next MMO will be a fully new IP, not based on any of the previous games.

A Starcraft MMO? Sure. The way you suggested? Not a chance.

For starters, I strongly doubt a Starcraft MMO would be an RPG. I'd bet on either an RTS or FPS kind of thing.

Possible? Yes. But don't expect it for the next mmo or for the next 5 years for that matter.

Warcraft was an RTS, now look where it is.

OT: They better completely finish the SC2 episodes before they even attempt something like this, I WANT TO KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY DAMMIT!!!!

Your theory fails as people still play Ultima Online and the original Everquest to this day.

It's coming to an end?!
Dude, let's take an older estimate:
10 millions times 20 (for the game) 200 millions profit without the monthly fees. Plus circa 150 million for the monthly fees... blizzard can whipe their ass with hundred dollar bills and never have to pay for toilet paper again.

I think if it happened that we all agree that it is at least 30 years away, but that would be cool. However rather than Starcraft with the limited races, how about World of 40k?

I don't know, I wouldn't say WoW is nearing the end... in any way, shape or form...

But that being said, launching a StarCraft MMORPG would be interesting (definitely something for a little extra pocket change for Blizzard). They'd have to be a little creative with the races though...

It seems to me like Blizzard have set up a vicious circle of ruining old content by creating new stuff.
Every time they create a new expansion the expansion before it loses a massive chunk of content. And then they make it easier to level so people get to the new content quicker which messes up tons of stuff.

They can't keep up the new content or else they'll end up with leveling being ridiculously fast and buckets of unused content.
WoW has a very limited lifespan, wouldn't be suprised if Cataclysm was the penultimate expansion before Blizzard started work on something else.
