Sonic riders is the only one in that list I like (zero G sucks). Pretty hard to choose an overall hated title, 06, rings and unleashed are all so bad it makes me wonder why I even like Sonic, but then I remember that I only really like the older games (the 2D ones that actually worked and weren't plauged with terrible controls, although Knuckles chaotix was pretty nasty)
As much as I want to stick unleashed at the top of the death list the special place is reserved for Sonic and the Secret Rings which is even worse than 06 for focusing to much on its shit storyline. Ok we had strong stories in Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles but they didn't distract you from the game they blended in nicely. If Sonic team is going to waste there time with stupid little cutscenes that look far better than the actual game, why don't they take these nice animation skills and putthem to good use in a tv show or comit the final sin of a movie.

Sonic Xtreme - should never have been cancelled!
Sonic Adventure - pretty bad
Sonic R - good idea but too short and simple
Sonic 3D (megadrive) - terrible
Sonic 3D (Saturn) - decent
Sonic Adventure 2 - great
Sonic Heroes - Worse than "3D"
Shadow the Hedgehog - Not really a "Sonic game" so gets away with the concept
Sonic Riders - pretty good
Sonic the hedgehog - very poor attempt at reviving Sonic
Sonic and the Secret Rings - Worst Sonic 3D game ever
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games - good idea, but still terrible
Sonic Riders 2: Zero Gravity - pretty bad
Sonic Unleashed - nothing special.

Remove the Werehog, strange pixie thing and all the people then re-release unleashed and I may want to play past level 2.

How is Sonic 2006 not being voted the worst?

I like this:

Don't forget to seperate the wii/ps2 version from the 360/ps3 version for Sonic Unleashed. While the cheesy anime story is still there the gameplay is a lot better in the wii/ps2 version than the 360/ps3. Plus the levels were different and it was paced a lot better with a simple leveling system that you get by just playing.

Sonic Adventure - decent
Sonic Adventure 2 - good
Sonic Heroes- average
Shadow the Hedgehog-horrible
Sonic Riders-never played but still a bad concept, sonic no longer running?
Sonic 06- horrible, too many characters
Sonic and the Secret Rings- bad. that is was only sonic but horrible controls(at least they tried something different so i respect them for that)
Sonic Unleashed(360/ps3)- so shiny but apparently frustrating gameplay
Sonic Unleashed(wii/ps2)-decent an overall good return to form and linear gameplay to ensure no chance to get lost on where you need to go.
I mostly agree w/ that setup.

I was actually thinkin the same thing.

I'm also pretty suprised that Unleashed is the one that's winning.
Yeah. I don't get it.

EDIT: I don't really mind Unleashed at all. The werehog levels are stupid, but not as bad as some people make them out to be, and I really enjoy the day levels.

Well it's a toss-up between Sonic 3D and Sonic 06, I managed to get more than half-way through Sonic 06 without completely losing my mind, but I couldn't get past the 2nd level in Sonic 3D without going crazy.

Can I vote for both?

I actually had quite a few sonic games on my gamecube, including sonic adventure 2, shadow the hedgehog, sonic heroes and also sonic riders.

Sonic adventure 2 was actually entertaining (maybe because it myfirst gc game). The sonic/shadow levels were fun ad fast paced most of the time, unless u ran into a wall. The trease hunting levels, however, were incredibly frustrating and pointless, much like the werewolf levels in the latest sonic game. Luckily there were not too many treasure hunting levels keeng you away from the next sonic/shadow level, even the machine levels were pretty fun.

Shadow the hedghog was the worst game of the four. It strayed away from any ties to sonic and seems like a sonic game with guns. It may sound good, but it isnt. I tried to play the game without any weapons and running around from pe to place, but to fully complete the game stnd a chance against bosses you were forced to use weapons.

Sonic heroes would have to be the best of the four games. The ability to chance "class" from speed to power to flight was genious. There isnt much i can say about this ame, except that it rocks...

Sonic riders is also fun, although i don't consider it to be a sonic game, i view it as a racing game. Playing it with a bunch of friends gets you very competetive, and i think that's the best bit about the game. Its great to play instead of ssbm with mates if one person just keeps on winning.

Yeah. I don't get it.
I think that Yahtzee's review had something to do with it.
That actually wouldn't surprise me one bit. I really do like his reviews, but I don't think his opinions should run mine into the ground, and then dress up like me but w/ his voice.

You missed off Sonic Heroes too, easily one of the worst ones, having to use team mates that have less intelligence than a shoebox.

But all of the above pretty much sums up the perfect answer here.
Only sonic games i've truely enjoyed are the 2 originals from the sega megadrive.

Sonic Heroes is on the poll.
Oh yeah, but i checked it twice. Oh well my bad.
Still needs to be an 'all of the above' option though. :^)

Shadow the Hedgehog. Seriously, wieldable guns & and mountable vehicles? In a game franchise that's known for super speed on foot?

the Sonic Adventure games were alright... not what I would refer to as classic, but certainly they set the bar that most- if not all- of the rest failed to even piddle on. Sonic Heroes wasn't too bad from what I played of it... sure your teammates have the intelligence of a pile of bricks, but the level designs were intuitive ^-^"

I'm going with Shadow, as:
1. It doesn't even include the azure attention-deficit woodland mammal as the main character (an instant giveaway due to the title)
2. Didn't hear a peep of good things on it.

As for the rest: Secret Rings and Riders were both unnecessary piles of fecal matter in which the money spent on them could've gone to better using making the next Sonic Heroes game (and thus hopefully improving upon the fuckups of the original), Unleashed is just another spinoff of the light/dark bandwagon that so many series seem to be falling under as of late, and the 06 Sonic the Hedgehog fails at attempted suicide in a back room with a razor blade.

Shadow the Hedgehog wasn't that bad. Granted I didn't think it was good, but at least it was playable (if only on a basic level). Plotwise, I can understand it being voted the worst just because it doesn't allow players to take Sonic's role.

On the other hand, Sonic 2006 wasn't playable. I didn't play it on the PS3, but the 360's load times in that game were long enough that it felt like an eternity passed each time, and I'm pretty patient; load times aren't that big of a deal to me. On top of that, they had a whole loading screen just to have someone say something for 2 seconds, and then another loading screen.

EDIT: Just one more thing about Sonic 2006 - whenever you die you have to go through whatever load times you did just before you died. That includes the person saying something to you. Again. And then waiting through another load screen. Which is retarded.

I've played both versions, and believe it or not, the PS3 version is worse than the 360 version.
