It's strange. I can understand why Adam Sandler can inspire such wrath, but find it hard hate him personally. Most probably because the only one of his films that I've ever watched was 'Airheads'. Where in that he fitted the role beautifully.

Matthew Fox will be a strong contender. It wasn't that obvious in Lost, cause the majority weren't exactly great. But with the Alex Cross film thing he was in, he'll have notoriety of Cage soon enough.

Anchorman was the last funny movie he was in IMO. I often decide not to watch something if he is in it.
Adam Sandler too, for the same reason: he just isn't funny.

Jack Whitehall, a british comedian

Man, I was in a good mood this morning, and you bought that *thing* up...There is nothing good about who he is or what he does.

His dad is/was a pretty important agent for a lot of actors. You have to wonder if we would even know who Jack Whitehall is if it wasn't for his dad and his connections....

Anyway, I'm going to go with Hayden Christensen. I don't think I need to explain myself there.

Huh. There are a few... interesting names mentioned here. I'd point out that there are plenty of actors who can only do a particular kind of role, but still do it well. Simon Pegg for example, really does his best work with Nick Frost, but he's not awful on his own. Better than Nick Frost. And they do work together beccause that's what most people like to see.

I could probably make that case for a few others here, but I would agree with most of them. Anyway, since he hasn't been mentioned yet, I'll do the honours.

Seriously. This guy is like a giant panda. He cannot survive outside of any movie that isn't a godawful British romantic 'comedy' and even in his own very specific genre, he's a disaster. Any time I have the misfortune of walking into the room and seeing him on the screen stumbling through embarrassingly bad lines that are always the same no matter the title, I just wish I could call in an artillery strike on his general area, and to hell with the collateral damage.

I voted for Orlando Bloom because I couldn't bother to think of someone else. If they hadn't cast him in Kingdom of Heaven, that film could have been a masterpiece for the ages.

I'll have to go with Tom Cruise, to be honest.

I beg to differ. The guy's a good actor, he's just often judged on the basis of his playboy image.

And to all of you who say Nicholas Cage... well yeah, he's pretty rubbish in most of his movies, but when he gets a good part, he's a really good actor. Just look at Lord of War, he's great in it.

I just find myself disliking Matt Damon's roles, although it could be that I came away with mostly negative feelings about the movies he has been in, as much as the actor himself. Having been made by friends to watch the Bourne series and the Oceans trilogy and not enjoying them, it's entirely possible they were just a really bad first impression of Matt Damon as an actor. But that's why, anyway.

And as for Tom Cruise, for me his main problem is that no, his roles aren't the same, but he always comes across as Tom Cruise as ___________ rather than Tom Cruise is _______ . The characters are noticeably different, but whereas with some actors in roles I think of them by their character next time I see them, Tom Cruise is always "Oh that's Tom Cruise" in any film I've seen him in. It's hard to word, but in acting I find that 'is' and 'as' are a very important distinction to make, especially for how believable I find the character. If I keep thinking of who the actor is, not who the character is, something is amiss.

Out of the list Clive Owen, such a boring and dry actor that I tend to skip alot of the stuff he is in nowadays. Sam Worthington is my overall worst actor for pretty much the same reasons, that and he seems only to pick terrible movies.

Will Ferrell is funnier in roles that arn't obviously comedy (take Stranger Than Fiction as an example)

So this 'Tom Cruise' part is simultaneously a put upon everyman asshole, a nigh-unstoppable badass or a conflicted crippled historical monster. Fucking what?

I feel the need to clarify that while Tom Cruise's parts are different in the movies he acts in, the way he plays them is always the same.

He has two different modes for acting: Manic crazy guy, and slightly less manic shouty-runny-action guy.

For instance, in the recent film Cloud Atlas, one of Tom Hanks' smaller bits is during a 2012 London section near the beginning where he's playing a rough-and-tumble writer who's being overshadowed by someone else. First time I saw that scene, I didn't realize the goddamn guy playing the character was Tom Hanks. I mean, looking back, sure, it looks like him and everything, but he plays the character so much differently than most of his other parts (in Cloud Atlas and other movies).

Whereas with Tom Cruise, I can always tell if I'm watching Tom Cruise in a movie. Because through whatever makeup he might be wearing, he's still playing the same one of two characters that he's ever been able to actually portray well on screen.
